Camden Hills State Park, Camden, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

I wish I could give this CG a higher rating but the slope of many of their sites prevents me. We were treated so well by the park staff (they should get a "10" rating) and they worked out the uneven site issue with moving us to another site that fortunately had no last minute reservations, but be careful when booking a site here--the slope may make it incapable of leveling your motorhome (we have a 30' Class A). We camped at Camden Hills State Park in a Motorhome.

Boston Minuteman Campground, Littleton, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Our time at Boston Minuteman was very pleasant, and their customer service was top-notch. This is one of the bigger CG's we've stayed at. They handled all of our requests with courtesy and prompt professionalism. This park is willing to help you with many of your on-the-road needs, plus take care of any issues that may arise with your site very promptly. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Boston Minuteman Campground in a Motorhome.

Meadowcrest Campground, Marshfield, Vermont

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Although there was a little mix up with the site, and one guest had already unsuccessfully tried a site that had become too muddy, the campground host worked out an alternative site, and the site owners took care of the muddy site in the next day or two. Wi-fi is good at this campground (compared to others), but I wish the laundry area was a bit more tidied up. The grounds were very clean and scenic. Also, very convenient to north central Vermont cities and attractions. Some road noise at some of the sites adjacent to Hwy 2, but hey that's why ear plugs were created. Level sites with mostly shade and friendly owners. Who could ask for more? We camped at Meadowcrest Campground in a Motorhome.

West Branch State Park, Ravenna, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

I would like to give this state park a higher rating, but the lady in the office neglected to find our reservation, causing an undue panic for us. We later called her with the reservation confirmation number, but hey, with the dates and our last name this shouldn't be difficult to find. Furthermore, I like kids, but there were kids running rampant everywhere. Maybe preventing children from biking near high traffic areas would be helpful and more safe? And if you have a tow vehicle unhitch it prior to entering the campground because this loop is a busy loop with some not so patient. We were a little late on check out and starting getting angry phone calls from the CG host. I called and explained the situation to the "manager on duty" and she took care of the situation. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Four Mile Creek State Park, Youngstown, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

I don't think there could be a more convenient CG to explore Niagara Falls and the surrounding communities and attractions. Others state to take the shuttle from Ft. Niagara Park to the Falls, but you get a pass for free parking at the parking lots near the Falls. Just get the lot ticket validated at the Visitors Center but be sure to show them your state park pass. The sites were level and spacious. Dual dump stations plus some throughout the park. Very quiet and oh...what incredible views on some of the sites! We camped at Four Mile Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Barber Homestead Park, Westport, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

The campground owners did an excellent job in reserving our site and making sure everything was to our satisfaction. There are various full-timers and seasonal folks, and they were the friendliest I've ever met. Had a great time at their community bonfire (nice small gathering). This CG is next to Lake Champlain so it has some beautiful views from nearby trails, has very little noise from children (no offense to parents), and is very clean and well maintained. They've been around 21 years! Sites were level and spacious, and easy to get in and out. Perfect place to stay to explore the Adirondacks! We camped at Barber Homestead Park in a Motorhome.

Natural Chimneys Regional Park, Mount Solon, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We were immediately greeted by the campground host upon arrival with friendly offers to help in anyway. The site was firm ground and grass, and was very level and roomy. We also had some shade and noticed many sites with shade. The drive to and from this campground consisted of very scenic country roads through the Shenandoah Valley. Great for the tow vehicle, just go slow in the motorhome. And try not to too distracted by the beauty of the pastoral scenes around you! We camped at Natural Chimneys Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Pohick Bay Regional Park, Lorton, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived during a rainstorm, but even bone dry it was nothing but impossible to level out our 30 foot motorhome. One of our leveling jacks was thrown out during this. The camp staff moved us to a site near the comfort station that contained much more gravel and much less mud. The bathrooms had mud tracked throughout on consecutive days, and were generally dirty and not maintained. To his credit, the campground manager helped me fully retract my damaged leveling jack. I very much appreciate his level of customer service. We camped at Pohick Bay Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Pocahontas State Park, Chesterfield, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

The sites had a lot of space between them, but you're not gonna find any shade on any of the back-in sites. So be prepared to run your AC. Also, for some reason this campground had a lot of ticks. A lot of the sites were level, but many of the pull-thru's seemed to not be that level. We had a back in and had our choice of level sites. Water/electric were very well-positioned. We camped at Pocahontas State Park in a Motorhome.

First Landing State Park, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

The state park gave us easy access to the beach, the Eastern shore, and the Chesapeake Bay area along with a very roomy site. It was well laid out, but had some standing water in one or two roadways. Also, some trees at the site could've been trimmed better, causing some scratches near the top of our motorhome, and the soft sand wasn't the easiest to maneuver around with the site. But overall, a great campground for visiting this area. We camped at First Landing State Park in a Motorhome.

Givhans Ferry State Park, Ridgeville, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

The park was clean and the sites were level. Phone coverage was non-existent. Had to drive 2-3 miles away from park to resume coverage. Didn't have the visitor station manned most of the time, so not sure why hang tag was issued for our car. The "code" to the gate is really a lock combination, so if you arrive with the gate closed, don't look for a key punch--you will need to open the lock. Very quiet and clean. Stay away from the sunny sites! We camped at Givhans Ferry State Park in a Motorhome.

Charleston's plantations are much more convenient than Charleston itself, but hey--Charleston's worth the drive! Country highways guarantee some uneven sloped, bouncy driving for RV's, so slow down.

Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of those campgrounds that you just say "wow" as you drive into it. Live oaks line the road, giving it that special sense that this is going to be a special stop. Very shady sites that are very level and roomy. You can see all of your neighbors but you still have the sense of your own space. Check out the nature trails and the interpretive center. Very friendly and professional staff. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Blue Spring State Park, Orange City, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This state park packs a big "wallop" when it comes to enjoying the nature and beauty of its natural spring. Manatees, river otters, mineral spring water to swim in (if you don't mind the beware of gator signs). A very friendly staff and great sites make this a must-see campground in Central Florida. Ochlockonee River State Park, Sopchoppy, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

I had a mix-up in my schedule related to the camp site, and Jonah the Park Ranger, took care of it professionally and courteously. This park is one I would consider a "hidden gem" because of its under-stated beauty, peace and quiet. Saw my first baby gator when we were driving to the campground, snake in the wild, and some deer on an evening jog. But overall, just a really great campground that is a fine alternative to the over-crowded beach-side campgrounds along the panhandle. Facilities were some of the finest I've ever seen at a state park. We camped at Ochlockonee River State Park in a Motorhome.

This was an incredible beach side park, with great views of the sunrise at certain sites. The boat tour to Shell Island left early without us, and if we didn't call the CG store, we wouldn't have known that they had over-booked and would be swinging back for more passengers. Maybe a sign on the dock explaining this would help? Otherwise, great site--level, very clean, great experience! We camped at Saint Andrews State Park in a Motorhome.
