This campground is easy to find, just follow the Garmin. Check-in was quick and easy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Interior roads are paved, but narrow. Our site was long, but narrow and not very level. Sites are also kind of close. Full hookups worked as expected. WIFI worked well. Verison had four bars. OTA TV worked great. This is a great place for pets, lots of dog walking room. This is an older campground with a few extended stay guests at the upper end. It's also a really pretty park with lots of grass and mature trees. This is a decent place to camp, but we probably wouldn't stay here again. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Good Place to over nite or spend a few days in the area. 3 miles off of I-40 easy access. It is an old KOA but is in excellent condition with paved roads and gravel pads that are mostly level. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The campground was not terrible if it was operated better. The bathrooms were updated and clean. The pool was not so much. It was swim-able but with bugs in it. The older man who checked us in was, in a word, crotchety. I asked what time the pool closed and he said "you can do what you want, you can drown, you can catch a cold, I don't care. I am leaving." I had no response. If pressed I would stay here again for a short amount of time but hope I am not pressed. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

My take: A former KOA. Quaint. Secluded. Safety: no concerns - peaceful. Access: Off I-40 exit 13 go north about 3 miles. Good signage on left. Municipal road needs resurfacing. GPS took us directly to the CG. Office: Token store with food items and snacks, a few RV equipment items; closes at 6 PM. Facilities: Sites are a mix of back-in and pull-through; tent area and cabins. Pool, no spa or fitness room. Laundry room not inspected. Restrooms/showers look very new, clean, modern (score "A"). Nice playground. Tons of open space for your dog to run. Lake with pedal-boats to rent. Campground: Roads are narrow, new asphalt with tight turns. Watch for hanging tree branches. Electrical pedestals with FHU-20/30/50; no meters. Sites are dirt and grass with a sprinkling of gravel and very close together, grass landscaping, level with pedestal at mid-rig. Some sites have sewer; others use dump station near office but the (aging) sewer is on the wrong side of the road so go "in" the "out". Some sites have concrete patios; not all sites have picnic tables. Good satellite views. Ground fires not permitted. Adequate water pressure and taste. Propane sales on site. Free cable TV. OTA TV found 18 channels. Free Wi-Fi but with sporadic coverage and weak bandwidth. Verizon phone at 4-bars; 4G at 4-bars. No railroad, traffic, or aircraft noise. No recycle bins. Bug Report: Ant mounds but no activity noted. Runners: CG roads good for running, no fitness room so no treadmills. Yoga: lawns were well mowed; place mats anywhere; watch for ants. Conclusion: Overpriced for minimal amenities. We only stayed 1 night per our travel plan. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Alma, AR, has fast food restaurants and some local shops. No RV stores. Didn't see any hardware or automotive stores (like Autozone or NAPA). There's a convenience store/gas stop about 2 miles from the CG with diesel at $2.349.

Well, this ex KOA still has KOA prices. The roads are a bit tight, but navigable. The cable is not provided for overnighters as it is too much trouble to set up a comcast box for each rig. (really?) Over the air is spotty, but we didn't need it. Owner tries to be friendly.... problem was he charged me $35 for a non sewer spot - then put me in a sewer spot - then came knocking on the door when he realized his mistake and wanted his extra $10 or to help us move to the site he intended. I paid the 10 as I was all set up after a long day driving. He should not have even asked. We won't be back. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Motorhome.

The speed bumps are a bit of a nuisance. They have a nice pool. We stayed toward the rear of the park in a 30-amp site w/ water and sewer. Not all sites provide a window through the trees for DirecTV but E-5 (our site) did. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are 3 grocery outlets (WalMart, CV's, Harp's) all of which offer a reasonable selection (no Whole Foods type stores anywhere around). There are several fast food outlets, a Cracker Barrel, Merle's Steak House among others at the intersection of I-40 and US-71.

We stayed here one night on our way back to Florida from Alaska. The site we were given at the end of the park near a side road was ample enough for our 5th wheel and tow truck so we did not have to unhook. The supposed concrete pad was very uneven, broken up and chunky at best. The site had a concrete patio with patio furniture that would have been nice to enjoy had we made a longer stay. The advertised WiFi was not available from our site at all. The staff member that helped us was friendly however let his political views known in no uncertain and not politically correct terms. Taking into consideration the present political climate with this election we did not take offense. I am not sure that all customers would feel this way. Overall the park is very nice for a family stay but we found it extremely pricey even with a GS discount for a one night stay. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Site A8 was narrow and close to site A7. If I had a slide out it would be real close or touching the slide out in A7. WiFi was pretty good most of the time. Verizon service was 3 bars. Nice open field next to the lake that is good for walking the dogs. Roads are narrow but passable with large rig. Some Highway noise from US 71 that runs near the park. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stopped here for one night and would stay again. The weather wasn't very nice but if you could get outside, the park would be enjoyable for a longer stay. We had a concrete patio with picnic table and a set of outdoor table and chairs. No Fire Rings but Level site, Good utilities, Decent size lots, Friendly owners. Satellite was no problem and good Verizon signal. WIFI speed is poor as in most parks. Your GPS will send you in the exit but its not a problem as the exit road used to be the entrance. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice folks at the office. They were very helpful. Despite the rain and wet grounds the campground is lovely, but perhaps a bit pricey for location and amenities. There are clusters of campers spread around open space and treed areas. There is a small pond with paddle boats. Although there isn't a dog run there is plenty of space for walking dogs. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Motorhome.

Use to be a KOA but no longer is even tho the sign is still up.

Was parked among a bunch of mobile homes even though they had other sites we could have fit into better. I called in advance to asked for a site. Owners are nice people. Laundromat is a rip off far as the wife's experience. Dryers cost about $3.oo a load, wash machines $1.50 and stole .25 like a slot machine. Every 5 minutes it wanted a quarter. Park is run down. All the family lives there and there they make the most noise. Every one of the people start leaving at 6am and it's like a race track. Our camper was right on the road. I mean right on the road. I was so close to trailer next to me I had to crawl under it to attached water. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We reserved on line and upon arrival we were told they had given our site to another rv-er. The only other spot available was ten dollars more! Listen ten bucks will not affect my world...but it was the principle of the deal. They would not budge and we had no were else to go. Horrible business practice. The power box in only inches off of the ground, so your power cord is crimped when plugged in. With my slides out and the motor home slides next to me, we could not walk in between our rv's. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cute park. Restroom facilities, especially the showers, need updating. Mildew is a problem as well as loose floor tiles in the shower stalls. Nice laundry facility at the office. We liked the concrete pads but watch for the boulders located at each site at night. They're meant to keep poor drivers off the corner of the pads but the lighting is low and when you're unpacking a few things you could topple right over them. We stayed one night. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

It was like a trailer park you could hear people late into the night. We were camped in the back next to all the trailer homes. We had to walk to the other side of the campgroud to use the bathroom or bathhouse. Very dated playground. If you get there late in the evening pool closed at 8pm so we had 1 hour to swim. Most expensive campground we stayed in on our 3 week trip. We usually stay at koa but we definitely will not stay at this one again. With small kids a long hike to bathroom at night with little lighting. Campground needs some updating and more kid friendly. We camped at Fort Smith / Alma RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
