Nascar Rv Resorts????

Can't find original post----so here I go again... sorry if it shows up twice
My brother went to the RV convention in Orlando two weeks ago and I can't believe what he told me was announced. There are going to be campgrounds banded NASCAR RV Parks. Has anyone else heard about this????

From what I understand they plan on creating a track experience at the park. Some of the thing they plan on doing, I have to admit they sound amazing. Here is a couple things I can remember---
Everyweek the race will be shown on a 40'40' mega Screen. The scanners that we use at the tracks will work. I heard a rumor that they will also be showing the driver - team prerace meeting. Not sure if that is true. We can only hope. Everyweek you will be able to buy that specific races hats, shirts and other stuff.
Please respond if you have heard about this!! I have not seen anything on the net about it yet. I am new at this posting thing and forums any other ones I should check for this news?

Is It Ok To Charge Of Wifi

Should Campgrounds charge for Internet access?

I would like to get other opinions on this.

My opinion is no! I have two reasons for this.

First, as a consumer. Having free internet access is actually one of the things I look for in a campground. It's a 'perk' if you will. If I have the choice between two, somewhat comparable, c/g's then I will choose the one with free WiFi. Heck, I'll even choose the one with free WiFi over one that is slightly nicer with fee for service.

Second, as a business owner (of which I am one). It does not cost more to allow the whole campground access to your broadband service. The only additional expense is the addition of the hardware. In some cases this might be more expensive if additional antennas are required and installation requires an expert. Also, a higher than basic internet subscription is needed. However, if the c/g is going to charge for its WiFi service, then all of this has to be done anyway. Therefore, consider it a marketing expense to drive more people to your c/g. Why do you think that places like Panera Bread and even McDonald's are offering free WiFi? I know I choose to eat there when I need a place to surf while I eat. In my case, I want more people to come to my place of business, so I make my wireless service available to all. It costs me no more, but brings more people to me.

What do you think?

Family Friendly Campgrounds

Why do some camp grounds advertise that they are family friendly then charge a per child/per night fee? Twice I was suckered into staying at camp grounds that charged for kids. We were camping with a group and I wasn't aware of the extra charge since I didn't place the initial reservation. You would think that they would at least give you two kids for free. At both campgrounds I had to pay for the children but the DOG was FREE! It's very irritating because I see one price ($35) but end up paying up to $10 more for my girls. It might be psychological but I hate having to pay extra for my children. At a "family friendly" camp ground my children should be acknowledged as being part of my family! What are your thoughts?

KOA

I am relatively new to owning an RV and I was wondering if KOAs as a whole are nice or if it better to stay non-franchise cg s. I f have stayed a few KOAs and I get the feeling that KOA does not monitor the cgs that are not in the more tourist areas. I plan on doing a lot of traveling and KOA has a great website to locate a cg. I hope that my poor experiences have been the exception rather than the norm. So, as a whole are KOAs to be avoided or enjoyed ?

Reviewing Older Visits

After using the reviews for years to help in selecting our RV parks, I have finally decided to contribute back to the website. As longtime fulltimers we visit many parks each year, but what I am wondering about is some of the older visits we have had to parks.

Specifically it is when our visit might be months old, but the specific park has as its most recent review, one that is far older. Looking at it from the perspective of someone perusing the reviews, I would rather have something that is from 2008 rather than the one from 2005 or 2006, figuring it is definitely more meaningful.

I don't propose posting anything older than 2008, and then only if it would be the three newest posts. I hope I'm not out of line with this as a first post, and if this has already been discussed, or the process is set up to reject anything that old, I apologize for plowing old ground, but my searching the forum did not turn up anything.

Bob

How To Question Posters

I saw a post on a campground i was planning on staying at and decided not to because of the post. The poster said that the manager wanted him to sign a waiver that if he left and there was any damage to his site his credit card would be billed and there would be no way to dispute the charge. I have never even imagined anything like that as that would give the park the ability to rebuild the park on other peoples money as most people would leave and then find out there was damage to whatever the owner said. I cant believe that the owner still has any business left as i know i wouldn't stay there. Sure would like to find out more of the details of that comment.

Looking For Luxury Rv Resort In Phoenix Area

We have been looking for a high-end luxury rv resort in the Phoenix area. We don't care what the cost is as long as it is very nice. We have stayed in several "Outdoor Resorts" throughout the US and like them very much. Most of the Resorts that we have looked at have "Park models" and rv's mingled together. We also would like to have a golf course in the resort. Also, all of the ones we have found are 55 & older and we are a couple in our late 40's. Thanks for you help.

????? Ok, This Is Funny

[quote]We were here just one night. This campground is really too far from the I-95 or the Florida Turnpike for just one night, but I would not camp here any longer than that. The pull-throughs were really just "pull-overs" on the entrance driveway. They were not really even long enough to get into with our 40' motorhome. Thank goodness no one else was using one of the 5 pull throughs that night. When the drivers side slide was out, we worried about being hit if someone drove in the entrance. The camp ground had about three pages of rules. While I do not think we broke any of them in our 10 hour stay, that is just too many rules to follow. The major problems were distance from the interstate and turnpike, about 6 miles with city traffic, and lack of secure and safe pull through spots. We camped here in a Tent [quote]

I have 2 acres (at least) of property tha I am thinking about putting concrete pads for RV's to park with picnic table and maybe grill(in time).

At this time there would be no electric, no water, no dumping, no washer dryer....nothing but the pad...and maybe big trash bin.

Just a special place in the trees along the river....I don't want more than 10 spots.
I want it intimate and private for the RV's

Since RV's are self contained, do I need electric and water and ?

How much should I charge for such a place?

They would have the river to fish and 3 lovely country restaraunts to walk too, skiing in Big Sky and Yellowstone Park to vist and snowmobiling and biking outside their door...

I am in the beginning stage of this process and needing information to know whether this is worh such a step.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Swimming Pool - Open To Public Or Close To Public

Should the swimming pool be open to the public or just to the people camping? My personal feelings are that if I go camping, I don't want to see half of the townies show up at the pool with their loud children. I like to camp during the week, when the park is less crowded. I like to sit at the pool, relax & read a book. I'm curious to see how others feel & I'd like to hear from park owners to see how their liability insurance is.

Numerical Scoring On Reviews

This is Posted as a Topic for General Discussion.
I have noticed that on this Forum and several others I participate in, there have been several Posts regarding the numerical score given to CGs by reviewers.Reviewing the same CG the scoring range among reviewers ranges from very low to very high. Since the numerical score is totally Subjective, basically, all Subjective scoring reflects an individuals personal feelings
(nothing is perfect, nothing is totally bad) and personal preferences (paved roads, pool, WIFI).
The normal way to evaluate this scoring is to look at several reviews from the same individual and establish a trend line for his/her scoring. The same holds true for the written review, if the same items are discussed in several reviews this provides both a second trend line for the numerical score as well as the amenity impact.
Based on the above, bottom line, from my personal point of view, is the numerical score of a review has little or no impact on my decision on staying at a CG.
What say you?
