Wireless Backup Camera, Costco has these for $80 Options

Ok, $79.99.

Anyone tried it? I bought one. You plug it into the 12v outlet. Fortunately, my RV dashboard has two, one for cigarette, and one "extra." This way, I can still use my Magellan and the backup camera. It's also supposed to have "night vision."

I'm not planning an RV trip for a couple months, but if anyone has tried this, let up know! If not, I'll give my review.

We have a camping buddy who has had the wireless unit for sometime now, and he claims it works to his expectations and does a good job. The unit is used in a fifth-wheel with the camera located inside the back window, to protect it from the weather. Good luck with yours.

The package is somewhat misleading. "EASY INSTALLATION." "WIRELESS." "JUST BOLT THE RECEIVER TO YOUR LICENSE PLATE!!!"

Opened the package. Easy, right......... Step 1. "You need a voltage meter to find the positive and negative wires."

Ok, I'm going to make a trip to my RV dealer to let them install it, if they will....... I don't have a volt meter! And I wouldn't know how to figure out which is the positive wire and which is negative.

[b]I would not put a lot of stock in these cheap rear view cameras. They are not waterproof, and I know of several that have failed due to moisture. Inside of the coach is a different installation and is probably the only reliable way to use it.

I've heard that these wireless backup cameras are good for a distance of only 20 feet. How true is this? We own a 34 ft Class A and if this camera works with the extra distance, I'll buy one.

negative is the frame on the vehicle---

any way-My lady friend from West Va has a 28 ft Sunline Travel trailer she drives a huge ford super duty F350 diesel truck she bought a wireless back up camera to aid to her hookups---she loves it---I was with her recently---wow---I would buy one just seeing hers---OH by the way

I am curious to see more thoughts on this. I have thought about a wireless unit seen advertised for $99.00 to $110.00, but have read they have a very limited range. I would like the type that uses the license plate frame seeing how I don't want to drill any kind of holes in the fiberglass

The one I bought at Costco supposedly uses the license plate frame.......

Haven't installed it yet.

Biggest complaint with these cheap cameras is the waterproof issue. Most will fail within the first year if mounted outside the coach.

Volt meters are pretty handy to have around, especially for testing the pedestal before plugging in.
Maybe your new camera is the perfect excuse to buy one. They're not prohibitively expensive and much
more accurate than relying on the little light-up testers.

And, yes, please do let us know what your opinion is of your camera. We are considering
getting one, too.

A volt meter will be a lots cheaper that a trip to the RV dealer. ($15 at Wal-Mart). Ask a handy guy at the campground to help you and he will do the whole thing and enjoy it.

My initial post was from 2008, and I no longer have that RV, and I never installed the camera. I now have an RV with a backup camera, love it.

Foot is healing slowly. Ankle feels fine, but am having trouble walking. Going to doctor tomorrow.
