Three months ago, my wife and I started using 'Fast Orange' brand hand cleaner in our rig to wash our hands. Prior to this, we had been using Grey Water Odor T/X in combination with regular hand detergents. Sometimes the sensors were okay, other times filmed. I still use the Grey Water Odor T/X, but after using 'Fast Orange' hand cleaner in combination, our sensors never get filmed since! 'Fast Orange' has pumice in it but NO petroleum solvents and is biodegradable. Found it at Wal-Mart in the automotive section.
This was an accidental discovery, but so far so good! |

We dump the remaining ice from our home freezer down thee toilet. Immediately before leaving and this sloshing around mechanically cleans things up on the inside. We fill the tank about half full. When we get there and set up the sewer, we get a whole lot of gunk out from a tank we had cleaned last time and considered whistle clean, Cost nothing.

My grey water sensors were all mucked up even when I dumped the tanks. Yesterday, I dumped the tanks, and forgot to close the gray valve. I ran some more water down the gray tank, not knowing the valve was still open. Somehow, that cleaned up my gray tank sensors!
I have used the ice cub trick, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Helps to add baking soda or borax with the ice cubes. -------------------- JJ from Pacific Northwest

We have very little trouble with the gray water sensors. I think you must also be very careful what goes down into the tank. Wipe plates off well before washing and try to keep particulates from going down the shower.

We had our Grey Water sensors begin to show full, when we knew the tank was not full. We used 2 cups of liquid Laundry Softner in a 1/2 full tank, drove 100 miles, letting it slosh and then emptied it. The sensors were back to normal. It had to be the film from all the soaps we used. We just use it perioldically now.

B.Kidd thanks for the tip. We started using counter top cleaner with orange in it recently and it is promoted as Eco friendly, it really works well too.
