QUOTE(napria @ Jun 1 2005, 08:38 PM)
sad.gif We stayed at Twin Creek this April 2005, and didn't really care for it.  We have a puppy who was 3 months old at the time and learning to be crate trained.  When I checked in, I was shown my site was to be at the far back corner of the park, and the pet area was across the park at the entrance.  I told them that my puppy was too young, and never would make the walk to the designated area in time to do her business and asked for a site closer.  They told me that I could not have any other site.  In the entire 5 days that we were there, there were multiple sites much closer to the pet area that were never occupied.  Additionally, the day after we arrived three families that were camping together each in very large class A's (we have a fifth wheel, not that it matters) were put on either side of us and directly across from us.  Their kids were constantly on our site, playing, riding bikes and talking.

I didn't find the owners/managers to be helpful or friendly in the least.  Also, we were under the (mistaken) impression that being situated at the foot of the Great Smokies, Twin Creek RV park would have access.  We were hoping to be able to leave our 5er and walk some nature trails.  Unfortunately, to go into the Great Smokies, it would have required a drive of at least 20 minutes, from what I recall.

I was very disappointed in this RV park, in part because it consistently gets such high ratings.  Perhaps if the person who had checked us in had accommodated our needs, we would have had a better time.

napria,

Wow sorry to hear of your bad experience at Twin Creek. As I said ours was quite the opposite, in fact the owner every morning was out blowing the leaves from the roads, restroom area and your site if you wanted him too (It was in October). He even offered to blow the leaves off our slides and awning on the day we were packing up to leave.

When we arrived, he jumped on a golf cart, escorted you to the site, and helped you back in. Most of the folks (fellow Campers) were really friendly, and the only problem we could ever say we had... which certainly was not Twin Creek's fault, was the trolley was never on schedule. I guess maybe they had a bad day or week? while you were there... sad.gif However, that being said, If I felt I was mistreated or mislead, I certainly understand you not wanting to go back. We did meet some friends there and it was in October, most of the children were back in school, not that that would make any difference.

There are a lot of nice campgrounds in that area, this just happens to be one I really enjoyed. Hopefully you will have a better experience on your next visit to the area.

We love Little Rivers campground just out of Townsend. The bike trail goes all the way into town on both sides of the road and makes for a leisurely day. Campground is clean and quiet and watched closely. We go there at least once a year to chill.
