 New to RV'ing from Manitoba Canada! We are currently in GA, and are heading to SC! and are intending to head to Florida.....we are just a tad worried about availability during the US Thanksgiving! Are there problems? Do we need to book ahead?  |

You shouldn't encounter any problems getting a site on Thanksgiving because it is early in the winter season. Later on things start to get full. Just be sure and provision food and gas before T-day because many stores and shops will be closed for the day although convenience stores (many have gas) should be open.
Some non-state park campgrounds have potluck dinners so you might want to see about finding one of those. Great way to meet people and share a meal. You could make/bring a dish unique to Canada (what's the one with french fries and gravy?). Avalon Land RV Park in the upper panhandle FL area (Milton) near Pensacola did this one year but we weren't there on the day so didn't participate. Many restaurants will be closed because almost no one goes out on Thanksgiving. It's a great time to drive around and see places that have too much traffic on normal days, the other great time to do this is SuperBowl Sunday. Have fun! |

If you have a campground in mind, it probably would not hurt to reserve just in case. We always go out to eat on Thanksgiving. Have never had a problem finding open restaurants. |

The French fries and gravy (plus) curd cheese is called Poutine. You could also get our southern cousins to try Naniamo bar or the most famous of all Canadian food and beverages, the "Double Double".
