[size="3"]Deciphering Campground Reviews

I have my own way of reading and deciphering campground reviews that I read online and I thought I’d pass along what I read into the reviews.

“THE KIDS LOVED THIS CAMPGROUND.”
My interpretation: The kids were allowed to run wild at this place and no supervision was required.

“THE SITES WERE TIGHT.”
My interpretation: This place is a voyeur’s dream, you can look through your window into the window of the camper next to you.

“THE BATHROOMS WERE OLD BUT CLEAN.”
My interpretation: The toilets may or may not be attached to the floor, the pipes are rusty and the water pressure is probably low. It really doesn’t matter to me, that’s why I have a fifth wheel with my own bathroom.

“LOTS OF TREES”
My interpretation: This is a good place to damage your trailer if you don’t pay real close attention your clearance both high and to the sides.

“THIS CAMPGROUND IS A 10 OUT OF 10 IN MY BOOK.”
My interpretation: This review was written by the campground owner or one of his friends.

“THE OWNERS/HOST WERE RUDE.”
My interpretation: The person writing the review made so many requests of the owners or violated so many of the rules that the owners wanted them to leave. When I arrive at a campground I pay my fee, and that is usually the last time I see the owners or host.

"CLOSE TO EVERYTHING"

My interpretation: Right on the main highway in the center of town.

"WITHIN SIGHT OF THE OCEAN/LAKE/RIVER"

My interpretation: No more than a three hour drive.

"GREAT FISHING"

My interpretation: Someone caught a carp here just a few years back.

"PEACEFUL"

My interpretation: No one comes here anymore.

Very humorous. Here are some more definitions:
HIGHEST RATED PARK IN THIS AREA: "Of course, this area only includes seven blocks."
LEVEL SITES:"For probably two or three feet, then whuuuupppps."
FIRE PITS:"We've got some areas where grass won't grow and........"
PETS WELCOME:"We're Korean and we just looooooooove Dogs."
PHONE HOOKUP AVAILABLE: "You must furnish your own cans and string.
ACCOMODATES LARGE RVS: "Anything up to 30 feet."
HOT TUB: "The tub in the bathroom is stolen."
GREAT VIEWS: "From the top of the office."
PULL-THRUS:"Is that the same as a drive-in?"
GOOD WI-FI: "A wi-fi system that has never been arrested."
AVAILABLE TV: "The owners have a tv set for sale."
WALKING DISTANCE TO....." "If you are a marathon runner, that is."
MILLION DOLLAR VIEW: "An excellent view of the town's new million dollar sewage plant.
HEATED POOL: "Provided the sun is shining on it that day."
50-AMP: "Yep, a 20 amp plug and a 30 amp plug. It all adds up!"
RIG STORAGE: "We've got this empty field we didn't know what to do with......"
ON-SITE RV WASH: "Our irrigation system sprays everything when it comes on."
EASY IN AND OUT: We've put rocks, trees, signs, poles, etc., where you turn out of your site."
RESTAURANT ON SITE: "Go to the park entrance, turn left, go four blocks, turn right..........."

See. Once you speak the language, RV'ing is such fun.

What can I add? Not much! I guess we have all been to the same parks. I also like the photo shots of lakes and creeks near by, but in what park did the shot come from? We need to be very good at reading comments other people have wrote up from the past and add post as we travel around to help other RV people find a good place to go.
