Hi all,

I've known about the Canadian site for looking up names for a about a year:

http://geonames.nrcan.gc.ca/search/search_e.php

Today I bumped into the same sort of site for USA:

http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic

WOW! I put in some "little known, except only by locals" landmarks near the area where I grew up, and they were all in there! Even John Wayne Trail! WOW!
