A rule of thumb is that any road named parkway needs to be looked at to see if you can take a truck or trailer or MH on it. THe GW parkway in VA is the same thing. THe belt parkway in NY is as well. Usually designed for cars and have low bridges. Now thruways are usually open to all vehicles. I will say this may not mean every road named that but many and if it is then you need to check before you go on it, especially in the North East.
The Taconic Parkways is restricted to passenger cars and non-commerical licensed pickups with vehicle weight of less than 5200 lbs that are not used in a commercial business. Most "Parkways" within the northeast have rules that only passenger type vehicles are allowed to use them. Note: In New York State motorhomes are registered as a passenger vehicle as they do not have a regisration class of their own. Does that mean that a motorhome can use the "Parkway" ??? I would say "NOT", but would prove interesting to try it...less the low bridges of course...........
