Aloha fellow campers! We have just returned from our family Memorial weekend camping trip. This year instead of the mountains it was the coast of California.

I am writing to complete the Blog I started on the product “Sewer Solution”. I spent a bit of time reading all the threads you wrote. Thanks for your ideas and input.

In the end I went ahead and purchased the “Sewer Solution” for 2 reasons. First was the price. I got a great deal using an email coupon for $20 off plus I happen to catch it on sale at Camping World. So for around $70 I had to go for it. The second reason was practicality. I was going to have 60 feet of 3” sewer pipe laid into the ground at my son’s home so I could stop by and stay a while. This was going to be big bucks!

Instead after receiving the Sewer Solution kit I took the hose around to a few retail/wholesale hose companies in my area and found the exact hose in a 50 foot role for $1.10 a foot. This 50 feet plus the 10 feet that came with the kit reached the cleanout at my son’s place and it took 4 minutes to dump a completely full tank, Unbelievable! Everything down a ¾” hose. So I cut the 50 ft into 30 ft and a 20 ft section. Now with the 2 extra metal hose connecters I order, I have 3 different lengths, 10-20-30 ft, that can be make into several different lengths of hose to fit any situation.

So the real test came at the camp ground this Memorial Day. We were staying in a back-in site, which meant that my sewer dump was right next to the next campsite’s sitting area and picnic bench. Not the place to make a stink! Waiting for the neighbors to go out exploring I took the opportunity to dump the tank. Again it was quick and odorless. The only indication of action was the muffled sound of spraying water inside the connection and the change in fluid color from clear to cloudy and back to clear. Very nice. No one in the busy campground was disturbed.

Final note. A few of you mentioned powered units like FloJet would do the trick. And being familiar with pumps and pump heads I came very close to plunking down the $400 and getting one of these because they most surely would work. I still may. But for now I am happy with my choice.

Thanks for the report. I never occurred to me to look for alternative sources for the expensive SS hoses. Were you able to find the slip connectors as well?

No, the OD size was close to 3/4", but not close enough for me. I think it may be a metric size. anyway I ordered from SS and paid $22 for two.
