We are looking for a recommended campground close to
Savannah, GA. How about it????

We live about 100 miles from Sav'h and visit frequently because we have friends there. Our favorite campground is the Skidaway Island State Park. We prefer the state park-type camping over the more commercialized/parking lot stuff. It is very rural, can be buggy and hot in summer but beautiful. It is near the marsh with lots of animals - don't leave any trash outside - racoons and opossuums will help themselves. Most other campgrounds in the area do not get good reviews. Georgia State Parks are the best - of course I'm a little partial!!!

We stayed at one on Tybee Island, it was not too bad as I remembered. We were in a new section close to the street but quiet. It provided all services, cable tv as well. We rode our bikes around the island which made it fun.

You will like Skidway Island. Savannah is a great place to visit. Stay away from Bellaire Woods Campground. Read reviews under Savannah and you will see the place is a bad problem.
We stayed at Fort McAllister State Park while visiting Savannah in April. The sites were large and wooded - very pretty park. Our only complaint at that time were the "no-see-ums"! ohmy.gif
