I am looking for a camping destination for vacation this summer in the New England area. I don't need a specific campground as of yet, but rather a general area with lots of family friendly activities.

For the past two years we have spent time in Bar Harbor and enjoyed the area (including Arcadia National Park) alot. I thought of the cape area, but I beleive it may be too crowded for out taste.

Any ideas from those people who have traveled more than I.

I would highly recommend that you consider the Moorings, an oceanfront (honest, right on the ocean) in Belfast, Maine. This is a superb campground, with truly wonderful hosts, a beach, a playground, and various other attractions. It is very close to some really neat small Maine towns with excellent restaurants and cafes. But, if you want to a good site, you better move quickly because they do fill up rapidly. Good luck.
