My wife and I are going to Florida in February as first time RVers, we are planning on staying in the punta gorda or port charlotte area. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I winter in the Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte area. There are several very nice c/g's in the area. I particularly like Riverside RV Resort on CR 697, 4 miles east of Port Charlotte. It is right on the Peace River, well managed, all the amenities, great sites, pools, paved streets w/lights. It is a place where you can join an activity every day or just rest in peace.
Encore has two c/g's there, one in Punta Gorda, one in Port Charlotte, both are nice. The Encore in Port Charlotte is huge, close to shopping centers, Wal-mart, and not too far from the gulf and beaches. One I would not consider is Watersedge RV Park. It is totally taken up by long term lessee's and has had several management changes not to mention owners. It is also the noisiest c/g I have ever been to. The airport is less than a mile away, dump trucks running all day, a stock car track within a mile, and a sheriff's gunnery range close by. Any of these c/g's will require an advance reservation in the months of Jan-Feb-Mar to get in. Good luck on your choice and vacation. Hope this helps.

My husband and I are also going to Punta Gorda in February. I've been trying to get information on the Sun N Shade RV Park, but can't seem to find anything out. Sure hope the place does exist!!
We're traveling in February to attend the Gene Cusic Collegiate Baseball Classic and are certainly looking forward to the warmth. Here in PA it's been hovering around the 10 degree mark!!
