Highlands Hammock State Park, Sebring, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Pros: Great bike trail & ranger-led tram tour. Beautiful oaks. Cool CCC museum. Cons: The campsites have no privacy, hook-ups are shared with neighbor so yours may be on wrong side. Narrow interior roads. No sewer. Only 30 amp. We camped at Highlands Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.

Frog Creek RV Resort and Campground, Palmetto, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Loved the kayaking on Frog Creek. Nice fenced dog area and good dog walk areas. Our site was very tight due to electric pole. Site surface is gravel and featured a picnic table and patio. We would come back. We camped at Frog Creek RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

C.B. Smith Park, Pembroke Pines, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Sites were level and spacious. We had a pull-thru with just enough room to park a car behind a 40-ft motorhome. We enjoyed the extensive bike trails and lake views as you walked around the park. Convenient trash containers--which some parks put only at the exit. All-around great park. If you are into batting, golf, tennis, etc. the park has all those and more. We used it as a base to visit South Beach Art Deco district and Vizcaya. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

Palm Beach Traveler RV Park, Lantana, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

Way overpriced for the tight sites where we parked on grass with teensy patio and no picnic table. However, staff and management were very pleasant people. They helped us back into the site (or we never could have done it--needed more than one person to watch all sides and patio. We didn't use the pool or facilities. We were there to visit with family nearby. We camped at Palm Beach Traveler RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sebastian Inlet State Park, Melbourne Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

The ranger who checked us in was very kind and helpful even though I had messed up my reservation dates. He found us a site. If you fish, this is a fantastic campground. We don't fish, so we probably won't return. We did enjoy seeing all the birds--who apparently found the fishing good also. Our pull-thru site was very long but not at all level. It took a lot of blocks and numerous attempts to get level. We camped at Sebastian Inlet State Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Louisa State Park, Clermont, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

The park is good for bike riding on paved road to Lake Louisa, lots of hiking trails, and several lakes to kayak or canoe on. We kayaked Dixie Lake. A fisherman showed us a cooler full of crappie he'd caught out here in his kayak. Good infrastructure in this park. Our site wasn't level and no sewer--only drawbacks. We camped at Lake Louisa State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Local Chef food truck is parked by the camp canteen and has good breakfast and lunch options. Best sweet potato fries I've ever had. Also good hamburger and quinoa stir fry. They seem to close around 2 so go early though they may have longer hours some days and some seasons.

Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort, Panama City Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

The park is exceptionally neat. Trash is picked up three times a day. Dog pots are conveniently placed all around. The landscaping is attractive. It is like a small town with a section of park models. It is a little expensive since it is not on the beach, so i still prefer Topsail State Park or Grayton State Park when I can get in. They also have full hook-ups and are on the beach and are less expensive. Still, this is a nice facility. We camped at Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort in a Motorhome.

Chassahowitzka River Campground, Homosassa, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Location is great for kayaking. Sites are shaded. Interior dirt road is riddled with huge potholes. If the road were fixed, this would be a much better park. Site 44 was all dirt, but others were graveled. 44 was a long pull-thru with shade. We camped at Chassahowitzka River Campground in a Motorhome.

Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park, Niceville, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

A gem of a state park! Would be a 10 if it had sewer. Nice walking trails through different ecosystems. Large sites with fire rings and picnic tables. Most are graveled, a few dirt. Four concrete handicap sites. The interior road around the campsites is narrow. We had to choose a different site (9, an ADA site) because posts alongside the road prevented us from being able to swing clear of obstacles to back into 41. So stay away from site 41 if you have a 40 foot coach. Many sites would hold a big rig easily though, despite the narrow road.

There is wonderful thick greenery between sites, giving you that feeling of being out in nature. Some sites have partial views of the bayou. The day use area is beautiful as well. We camped at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park in a Motorhome.

Three Rivers State Park, Sneads, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Nice graveled/dirt sites with attractive trees. Many have lake views. We had plenty of room to park a 40 foot motor home at our site with toad parked in front. The campgrounds are hilly and difficult to bike over to the pavilions. There are a few walking trails that are not as hilly. Our site (6) had a lot of poison ivy on the trees and ground. We camped at Three Rivers State Park in a Motorhome.

Rock Crusher Canyon RV Resort, Crystal River, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Some sites were way nicer than others. Everyone coming in for just two or three nights was sent to the same unattractive area with little shade. The plus side--easy in and out. And the site was level. But no feeling of being out in nature or of privacy. We didn't sit outside at all due to the closeness to the next site and their sewer. That said, many of the sites were occupied by long term rentals and were tricked out very attractively. They had beautiful shade trees and privacy. It would be a decent area to stay for an extended period while you visited the many springs in the area. We camped at Rock Crusher Canyon RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Manatee Springs State Park, Chiefland, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

The good: the deer visiting the campsites, Anderson Outfitters for the BBQ and friendly rentals of canoes, etc. A couple of short hiking trails. The bad: Really dirty campsites and campground roads. They could use some gravel or concrete pads. We camped at Manatee Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

Carrabelle Beach RV Resort, Carrabelle, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

The park location is fabulous--across the street from a white sandy beach that is dog friendly. The worst aspect is some of the palm trees are located right at site entrances and make it difficult to swing a big rig into a site, especially if a car is parked across from the lot. But it's a nice park, clean with concrete pads and a picnic table. If you are unfortunate enough to be assigned a spot in the adjacent park across from the entrance, it is not nearly as nice (no landscaping). We camped at Carrabelle Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.
