The Riverside Ranch (formerly Riverside Resort & RV Park), Hatch, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Just off Highway US-89. Level pull-thru sites, quite wide. The setting is beautiful - the red rock bluffs provide a stunning backdrop - and a creek wanders through the property. The electric worked well. We had full hook-ups with 50 amp service. Got satellite reception easily. The park staff were very pleasant and helpful. The park was quiet. Road noise from US-89 is not bothersome. A perfect location for seeing the incredible sites in the area. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at The Riverside Ranch (formerly Riverside Resort & RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Red Canyon Bike Trail is a great ride! There is more to do in the area than time permits. We were here a week and left knowing we wanted to return at some point. Easy day trips to Zion, Bryce, Kodachrome and Red Canyon. Cedar Breaks is a beautiful park without a lot of visitors. Great hiking.

Page Lake Powell Campground, Page, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Wonderful stay here! The sites are level, long and wide. We had enough room to park our truck, fifth wheel and car. The park staff kept space between the sites until it got too busy. We got satellite TV from our Winegard dome on top of our rig. The laundry room has plenty of machines and is inexpensive. There is a large dumpster for all recyclable items. The tent sites looked very nice too. The park employees are very helpful and pleasant. The park was very clean. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Page Lake Powell Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The Page area has so much to offer! We were only here a couple of days, but managed to pack in a lot of fun. Must see attractions include Glen Canyon Dam, Upper Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River. We hope to come back to this area again.

Salome KOA, Salome, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Very level, gravel pull-thru sites. The power worked great and we had full hook-ups. We stayed here when it was not busy, so there was lots of room between RVs. If the park had been full, we would have had neighbors very close to us. As it was, we had lots and lots of space. We stayed here as part of our Thousand Trails upgrade. The employees were very helpful. BLM land is just on the other side of the fence and you can walk out there. We would stay here again. We camped at Salome KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Salome has a history and is small, but interesting. The Post Office does not accept General Delivery without completing a form. Easy access to Phoenix, Quartzsite, Lake Havasu City, etc. Lots of hiking and history to explore.

Seligman Route 66 KOA, Seligman, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Long, level, fairly wide pull-thru sites. Full hook-ups with 50amp. Easy to get to on Route 66. It happened to be very windy when we were there. The office has a gift store with Route 66 items, ice cream, some food items. Nice pet area with agility obstacles. We camped at Seligman Route 66 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Jones High Country RV, Nephi, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

A very basic, gravel park. The sites are fairly close together, but full hook-ups with 50amp. Power worked fine. Easy stopover on I-15 for an overnight. There seems to be a lot of long term leased sites in the back part of the park, but sites were available in the front park.

I did self-registration when we arrived. Later that day, I found out they gave a Good Sam discount. I called the manager and she told me to come by the office. She honored the reduced rate, giving me back $5 cash and was very gracious about it. It is an easy 1.2 mile walk to town. We camped at Jones High Country RV in a Fifth Wheel.

We enjoyed bicycling around the park and walking on part of the Oregon Trail. Nice displays of covered wagons. Large trees and lots of grass. The park rangers and camp hosts are very helpful. Be sure to make reservations. Glenn's Ferry is a quaint and friendly town. Don't miss Smith's Hometown Hardware Store. Really fun!

Earp & James Hitching Post (formerly Lottie-Dell Campground), Snowville, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access off I-84 and far enough off the highway so there is no road noise. Self-registraion, I did not know what the Good Sam rate was, so paid the full $30. Pull-thru, gravel, very level site with beautiful vistas of the surrounding area for miles. Wonderful ranch theme, with lots of rusted tools and ranch paraphernalia. Can walk for miles. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Earp & James Hitching Post (formerly Lottie-Dell Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We experienced a tremendous thunder and lightening storm. The broad vistas made the storm even more spectacular. The park's new name (Earp & James) is a result of the owners' names - Wyatt & Jessie - thus the reference to the historical characters. The owner is full of good information about Utah, the roads, places to go, etc.

Alpine Country Store & RV Park, Hayden, Idaho

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Tucked back off Highway 95, but easy in and easy out. RV Park is behind the gas station and mini mart. Fairly level sites, but tree branches hang down in some areas. The employees keep the park very clean, including emptying the trash on a daily basis. The train noise is loud and fairly frequent. The laundry room is small, but inexpensive and clean. We would stay here again. We camped at Alpine Country Store & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Hayden Lake area has lots to do. Great bicycling from the RV Park, through farmlands and country home neighborhoods. The Centennial Trail in Coeur d'Alene is wonderful - over 20 miles of designated bike path along Lake CDA and the Spokane River. The Farmers Market in Hayden is small, but interesting. The RV Park is an easy drive to Silverwood Theme Park.

Emigrant Springs, La Grande, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night here on our way to Idaho. It was an easy on/easy off from I-84. The park is very close to the highway. The road noise was not that bothersome, although it continued all night. Two issues came up for us. The one-way road for the A-Loop is reversed. I spoke to the ranger who told me to drive against the one-way signs, so we could access our site from the correct orientation. That was easy enough. Second, some of the trees could use limbing up, so just be aware as you park. especially with larger RVs. We camped at Emigrant Springs in a Fifth Wheel.

There is a service road that winds through old growth forest and is a nice 2 mile walk with a dog. We had a reservation. Although spaces were available, it was easier to be able to choose the right size site for our rig by making a reservation.

Hacienda RV Resort, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this park as we wanted to be walking distance to some restaurants and the shops in Old Mesilla. The park is very clean and well maintained. FHU with 50 amp, pull-through, fairly level site. Utilities and WiFi worked well. Clubhouse has a warm, comfortable feeling. The fitness room was so cold, no where to turn heat up. Privacy fence on one side is a nice touch. Felt it was a bit pricey for being in a more industrial area. Area merchants offer discounts via coupons available in the clubhouse. We would probably stay here again. We camped at Hacienda RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Desert Willow RV Park, Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Perfect overnight spot. Easy in, easy out. Pull-thru, very level, graveled sites. 50 amp worked great. Did not use septic. The manager is very friendly. The grounds were very basic, but very clean. Very little noise from I-10, but the train is close by and quite loud in the middle of the night. We would stay here again as a stopover place. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Thousand Trails Lake Whitney, Whitney, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The campground was hard hit by the spring storms, but the staff is working hard to repair and reopen all the facilities. There are a good number of sites, but some are small and uneven for larger rigs. Small trailers seem to fit just fine. The electrical hook-ups have had some problems, be sure to test before settling in completely. The water pressure and septic systems worked fine. The internal park roads are terrible - potholes everywhere. There are two pools which are well maintained and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The park is pretty, quite wooded, serene and great for walking. We camped at Thousand Trails Lake Whitney in a Fifth Wheel.

Tombstone Territories RV Resort, Huachuca City, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here seven nights. The staff was friendly at check-in, although very slow, and we really didn't see or interact with anyone after we checked in.

The sites are quite large, level, smoothly graveled (the rake them after each use) and pull-through. Since the park was not too busy, the staff did a good job of leaving sites vacant between each rig. The utilities worked as expected and the park cable was in good working order. The park was clean.

Dog bags and trash bins provided at the entrance to the walking trails.

We did not use the pool, but it looked well maintained.

We thought it was a bit expensive for what it offered, but our Passport America helped for three of the nights. The reason we would not stay here again is that we enjoy a more rustic setting and the state parks. We camped at Tombstone Territories RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We took advantage of the three month option and it was a great place to "winter" this year. The staff is very friendly and competent. The park has hiking trails, lots of activities and plenty of sites. The new dog run is a nice addition. Issues or concerns are addressed immediately by the manager and staff.
