Rideau Acres Campground, Kingston, Ontario

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Advertise free wifi. Sure, if you want to go and sit in their store during business hours. Commuter train blasts through every hour all day and the frieghts continue on into the night. Impossible to sleep. Booked site for 1 week, left after 2 days. Only 0ne place to put garbage and thats a 5 minute drive, never mind hiking to it. Dumpsters are overflowing. Bathrooms and showers are too few and dirty. Showers have no place to sit or place soap and shampoo. We camped at Rideau Acres Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Kingston is such a wonderfull city at first blush. It is a shame that the two RV parks near Kingston has soured our view of this city to the point where we are not interested in returning or as was our original plan, to relocate to Kingston.

Sturgeon Falls KOA, Sturgeon Falls, Ontario

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Owner seemed put out that we would dare show up after 7 PM in the off season. Even though they claim to offer free wifi, we were asked for an additional $2.00 for the access code. Long trek to washroom/showers through swampy land. Very quiet though as it is 5 miles from highway. We camped at Sturgeon Falls KOA in a Tent Trailer.

Sault Ste. Marie KOA, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

One washroom, one dumpster area, too far to trek if in tent or pop up tent trailer. Showers and washrooms are always damp and clammy and cold even though newly renovated. Limited WiFi, owners seemed more interested in their show dogs than actually running an RV park. Lots of noise from highway and trains. We camped at Sault Ste. Marie KOA in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Sault is a must visit city. However, be warned that if travelling east from Thunder Bay, the trip will be long, grueling and at times dangerouse. Distance calculator claims 8 hours. Count on 12.

Thunder Bay KOA, Shuniah, Ontario

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent staff, very helpful. directed us to the right people for emergency repairs on our refrigerator and safety chains. Joined KOA because of the level of service offered by ThunderBay KOA. Turns out Thunder Bay KOA is the exception, not the rule, if you merely have a tent trailer. The highway can be heard from the RV park but it is acceptable. A freight train blasts through the area, horns blaring, around 3 AM though. We camped at Thunder Bay KOA in a Tent Trailer.

Northwestern Tent & RV Park, Dryden, Ontario

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, helpful owners. If in tent or pop-up tent railer, it will be a bit noisy from the Trans Canada, but bearable if in a site further back from highway. Kind of neat little town to check out as well. Has just about everything you need. Our site was large, gravel, with some sun, some shade. We camped at Northwestern Tent & RV Park in a Tent Trailer.

Ponderosa Campground, Swift Current, Saskatchewan

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

If in a tent or a pop up tent trailer, stay away. Right beside Trans Canada with only a short wall of empty containers to "muffle" the noise from the highway. Also at base of hill east bound out of Swift Current. Truckers use jake brakes downhill. Also has a population of feral cats that are friendly enough but are a pest and a nuisance all night. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Tent Trailer.
