Golden Isles Vacation Park, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 2 nights at this campground while passing through town. First impression upon pulling in was poor. Tons of very old and dilapidated campers scattered every where. Check in was easy and the staff were very friendly. The sites are super close. Like awning almost touching neighbor close. We couldn't sit comfortably outside as we were literally up against our neighbor's rig. This place is terribly junky. Broken down campers, old junk cars, just overall not what we were expecting at all. The only positive that we found were the friendly staff and the decent bathroom facility. We didn't use the showers so I can't speak to the cleanliness. This campground is majority seasonal guests. If i ever stayed again, it would strictly be for an overnight stay and place to sleep. Would not recommend for any longer of a stay. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Travel Trailer.

Washington / Pittsburgh SW KOA, Washington, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

KOA was very clean and seemed well maintained. Very simple. Staff were friendly and helpful at check in. We did not use bathrooms or bath house. Sites are extremely close. The site picnic table was the exact width between our camper and our neighbor. Our site was relatively level, but we did notice sites that seemed very unlevel. As previously stated, the roads are curvy and the campground is elevated, located on a large hill. We were able to maneuver fine with our 36' travel trailer. Overall, campground is clean and works for a night stay if traveling through the area. We will not be returning due to the proximity of sites. We camped at Washington / Pittsburgh SW KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Norris Dam State Park, Norris, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We originally booked a site in the East campground. Upon arrival, the east side was not suited for us. The sites are extremely close with no type of screening in between sites, only provides 30 amp electric and is situated right underneath high tension powerlines. The East campground just wasn't for us. After calling the front desk, they happened to have a site available on the West side campground and happily assisted us in changing our reservation. The West campground, hands down, is the nicer side. The sites are a little closer than we normally prefer, but much more spacious than the East side. Also, the park wasn't very full which allowed us to have open sites next to ours. Wonderful, shaded sites with natural screening between sites. It was lovely. No complaints with the hook ups, all worked wonderfully. The playground is a great asset for families. We also enjoyed just walking the loop and enjoying the scenery. A nature trail head is found just off of the loop and was a fun excursion for our family. The bath houses were clean, but a little outdated. Paint peeling from the ceiling and tons of spider webs, but it is a $20/night natural state park and seemed to be decently maintained. If you like wooded, natural camping with a few modern amenities like we do then this campground is for you. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back if we are ever in the area! We camped at Norris Dam State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Happy Holiday RV Village (formerly Happy Holiday RV Park), Cherokee, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This park didn't have any recent reviews, but we decided to give it a try while in the area. First, the location is great with close proximity to downtown Cherokee, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Now for the park review. The staff was nice during the check in process. Loved the escort to the site. The sites are CLOSE. The closest we've ever had. Tons of permenant residents, but they do keep it well kept and clean. Thankfully, one site beside us was vacant or it honestly would have been miserable. If this park is full, be prepared to be on top of each other.

We had a premium site with full hook ups. No complaints with any of that. We did not try the cable, so we can't speak to that. Cell phone reception is non existent (verizon). The wifi they provide is terrible. You cannot stay connected because it continually goes in and out. We are an outdoor family, so this wasn't a complete deal breaker for us, but do not go expecting to have internet via their Wifi because it truly is horrible. They do have a small swingset for the kids with a couple of swings, although very basic and small. We did not swim in the pool because it was always crowded, but it too was small. The streams running by the property are a nice asset, but in our case, the park was full and all creekside spots were occupied making it impossible to enjoy the creek without being rude and imposing onto another camper's site. The organized activities mentioned on their website were no where to be found during our week long stay. Overall, it's not a bad place to rest your head if you dont mind really close sites. That's not our preference so we will do better research and stay somewhere else on our next visit to Cherokee. We camped at Happy Holiday RV Village (formerly Happy Holiday RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

WoodSmoke Campground, Unicoi, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This park is clean, well maintained and simple. We stayed for 2 nights. Did not use the bathhouse, but did see them on site. No on site laundry. No activities for children, but my kids enjoyed just being outside. Sites are gravel and well spaced. Roads are a bit tight, as stated previously. Our travel trailer is 36' and we found some of the turns to be tight, but doable. The real gem here is the staff. They were amazing. Very knowledgeable, helpful and hard workers constantly on the move bettering this park. The scenery is nice being this close to the national forest. The park is wooded and natural. If you're looking for a quiet, simple place surrounded by nature with full hookups- this would be for you. I would stay here again! We camped at WoodSmoke Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Bull Run Regional Park, Centreville, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is well maintained. Beautiful in spring. Our site had no water or sewer hook ups, which we were a little apprehensive about upon booking. They have a potable water and dump station at the entrance of the campground, so it worked out perfectly for our 2 night stay. Sites are pull off, meaning that your door will face the woods. We really enjoyed this set up. The sites were adequately spaced, but having the pull off set up made it feel extremely spacious and private. Again, we love this configuration. We camped on Memorial Day weekend, so the park was completely full but it was still quiet and pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful during check in/out process. We found the roads easy to maneuver our 36'. No issues there for us. We did hit the water park for a few hours and our 4 year old had a blast! It was smaller than I originally expected, but it was an amazing value with the camping discount (only $4 entrance fee for the water park). Kids also enjoyed the playground. We didn't use the bathrooms or showers, so can't speak to that. Overall, great weekend retreat if you prefer a campground close to nature. We would probably stay longer next time if we were able to get a full hook up site. We would gladly camp here again. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Short drive to the Jiffy Lube Live Amphitheater. Great spot to stay if you're heading to that arena.

Lake-in-Wood Camping Resort, Narvon, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

This campground was awesome! I can't say enough great things about it. Very clean, immaculately maintained, amazing staff with the best attitudes. This place is beautiful. Staff was so understanding and eager to assist us after we ran into terrible traffic and were late for check in, which required them to stay 30 minutes past close. They were still so welcoming and took time to escort us to our site and see that we were hooked up and ready to go. We didn't use the showers, so we can't speak on that. The laundry was clean and relatively cheap ($1.75 to wash) compared to other campgrounds we've camped. Our site was a "red carpet" site. Site was level, spacious, hookups were great, Internet was strong. The amenities of this place were amazing. Small putt putt, shuffle board, volley ball, organized activities, on site cafe, walking trail, lake (no fishing license required), playgrounds, golf cart rentals etc. This is truly one of those campgrounds that is so enjoyable, you hate to leave. Very few places get it all right, but this was one of them. We will definitely be staying again! We camped at Lake-in-Wood Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Hospitality Creek Campground, Williamstown, New Jersey

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

Staff was super friendly and eager to accommodate our last minute, same day reservation. Peak season pricing is a little steep. We camped during their "off season", which grabbed us a 40% discount off of their general prices-well worth the money. Site had full hook ups. Bathrooms and showers were well maintained, clean, with endless hot water. Lots of seasonals, but well kept and quiet. The lake is gorgeous. The pools were closed during our stay, but looked fantastic (especially loved the splash pool for small children, it looked super fun!!) We would definitely stay again for the off season price. We camped at Hospitality Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.
