Sesquicentennial State Park, Columbia, South Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

A State park within the city limits is rare. The sites were placed so no one saw anyone one else's door so privacy was achieved. Great hiking, kayak rentals, water & electric with a dump station. Fills up on weekends, while we were there it was camping and football fans. We camped at Sesquicentennial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The ballet in Columbia was surprisingly top notch. Rossi Casual Italian in Forest Glen uses local current produce and designs the dishes accordingly while also having the sat by Italian fare.

I also rented a kayak for $15/day on the man made lake here.

Peters Pond Park, Sandwich, Massachusetts

A beautifully kept property. Many summer residents but people were nice if you wanted or left you alone. It was pleasant sitting on the beach of their lakes. We camped at Peters Pond Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Being right at the tip of Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard ferry is near by. Chatham beach was beautiful, Hyannis appeared spent. We also travelled to The Battleship yard near RI to tour the USS Massachusets, the WWII workhorse of a ship!

Meadowbrook Camping Area, Phippsburg, Maine

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Loves the fresh lobster at $6.95/lb. Had it cooked with corn on the cob,and potatoes. The staff went above & beyond. We had to leave early and did get a refund for the entire amount. The proximity to LL Bean made it very attractive too. The site was fine for a couple of days. We camped at Meadowbrook Camping Area in a Travel Trailer.

Popham Beach is free to Seniors and Veterans. Beautiful beach. And the proximity to LL Beans 3 block outlet was great, besides Portland being a fun and charming city.

Lost Dutchman RV Resort, Apache Junction, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stay there for 6 months every year. If you are not friendly, this park is not for you! It is so reasonable. There are so many activities if one isn't busy it's your own fault. The closeness of the units causes a community feel and a neighborhood of winter birds and small % of full time residents. We camped at Lost Dutchman RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Some very good restaurants are starting to open up in Apache Junction. Hiking in the Superstition Mountains is priceless. Busiest times are Jan & Feb...every other month is quiet.

Green Acres Lake Park Resort, Lake Mllton, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Unimproved and poorly constructed pads. The sewer was too far from the sewer hose and the electric connector was too far from the hose too. Too near the freeway. Extremely low water pressure. Everyone is right next to each other, no trees in between. There is a clean laundry room, no pool, but a water lake. The people were nice enough but that doesn't make up for the site. We are fulltime RVers and it's one of the worst we've been in. We won't be back. We camped at Green Acres Lake Park Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory, Benson, Arizona

Overall Rating:

With a pool & hot tub, the chaise lounges are very nice & clean. The water itself is clean. Lots of activities if you are here during the winter months. Easy access to the I-10 and state hi ways: 80, 90, 182, 183. It is centrally located for many attractions. The whole town is clean & friendly. We'll stay again. Sites offer some shade. Site surface is asphalt and features a picnic table and patio. We camped at Butterfield RV Resort & Observatory in a Travel Trailer.

AOK Camper Park, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

We didn't expect any frills but decided to stay to catch up on laundry & get ice & some things at the convenient store across the street. There were no open spots with shade, the laundry wasn't working & the convenient store hasn't been opened for a while. No note on the door about no working washers/dryers, the door was just locked. No people on site so I had to call to find out the status. Won't stay again. We camped at AOK Camper Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Panama City Beach RV Resort, Panama City Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $83.00

This is one of the nicest parks we've been in. It sounds expensive but it's right in the heart of the activities and the beach. Very clean, mostly pull through spots, palm trees, and very accommodating hosts. We would return. We camped at Panama City Beach RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

A recommendation for Caption Anderson's restaurant proved to be such an excellent choice. Exceptional seafood at a reasonable price and a very festive atmosphere.

All Star RV Resort, Houston, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 6 weeks while working the floods of Memorial Day 2015. Owners are consistently grooming and cleaning the sites. There are a lot of workers of various occupations, but it's very quiet, people are friendly but not in your business. The laundry is clean with several options of cycles so the $2.50 seems fair. We kept a clothesline between the trees in the back of our RV for line drying and that was readily acceptable. The pool was treated 3 X/day for bugs and the most I saw using it were 3, including me. An exercise room, a computer room, and pool table rounded out the community hall. They recently added TengoInternet, have cable, and Wi-Fi works great. Very close to the 59, the 8, the 610 easy to get to any place in Houston. Found it to be a utilitarian city but lots of wonderful places to eat. Close to La Porte, Galveston, and Beaumont. Would come again anytime. We camped at All Star RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Only a few sites in Houston proper, mainly historic/military, but Galveston has a real island feel to it. La Porte is a beautiful lake community too. Quilters should visit Tea Time quilt shop on the I-10.

Calloway RV and Campground, Hammond, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We needed a place for access to Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Lafayette. This was very adequate for staying a month. Several overnight spots in front for just that. There is a nice pool, dog park fenced in, and a nice laundry facility with a very long folding table and AC. It was during rainy season so there was mud. A week before we were to leave, a new owner took possession and was willing to do all the deferred maintenance the former owners were not willing to do. Should see a cleanup. But the managers couldn't have been nicer. Would stay again if we needed to be in the area. We camped at Calloway RV and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
