D & W Lake Camping and RV Park, Champaign, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This was our third stay at this beautiful park. It is a great stopover for us either on the way down south or back up to Wisconsin. They have a fishing lake with a beautiful walking track around it. Park is well taken care of, friendly staff, sparkling clean bathrooms, showers and laundry room. Pet friendly also. Staff is friendly and attentive. Trash picked up right at your site several times a day. Quiet park and great for an overnight stay or longer. Will stay here again. We camped at D & W Lake Camping and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Clarksville RV Park & Campground, Clarksville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We only stayed here overnight on our way home to Wisconsin from North Carolina. It was a very nice park with sparkling clean bathrooms and showers - in fact the cleanest I've ever seen in a campground. We didn't use the laundry room but that was spotless also. We had a pull through site and it was easy to navigate. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. Staff was friendly and helpful. We camped at Clarksville RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Persimmon Creek Campground, Murphy, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for the whole month of October. It's a small family run campground in a beautiful setting. There is a catch and release fishing pond and also a pay by the pound trout pond. They have a small farm with goats, chickens and pigs and we were given a tour. The owners are friendly and attentive to your needs at all times. Numerous trash cans that are emptied multiple times during the day. Restrooms and showers clean. Located close to lots of activities and things to do. We highly recommend this campground and love the area. We camped at Persimmon Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to Tennessee and also Georgia. Whitewater rafting nearby and lots of good places to eat and shops in Murphy to browse. Don't miss the Burger Basket in Andrews for scrumptious made to order burgers. Also a trip to the Nantahala Outdoor Center is a must. Beautiful winding road along the Nantahala River.

Old Stone Fort State Park, Manchester, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We only spent one night here but it was satisfactory for our needs. Seemed to be a lot of tent campers and families but it was quiet at night. We had a site right across from the restroom and shower. Park could have been maintained a little better, but did see a ranger come by occasionally. As others have stated there is a narrow one lane bridge when you enter the campground but it wasn't a problem. We camped at Old Stone Fort State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful COE park. Restrooms and showers very clean and grounds well kept. We didn't have a lakefront site but it was a short walk to the lake. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at South Marcum Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Buffalo Lake Camping Resort, Montello, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful campground with everything you could ask for. We spent 3 nights with 2 of our grandsons and our dog. It is a pet friendly park. Heated pool, game room, snack bar and wonderful fishing lake right across the street. You can rent a rowboat, kayak or canoe or just stand on the pier and fish. My grandson and husband caught at least 50 fish in 3 days. They also have bike rentals available, one seater, two seaters or four seaters. Our site was clean with nice picnic table and fire ring. There are a lot of seasonal campers here but we stayed during the week so most of them weren't even there. The owners are friendly and want to make sure everyone enjoys the campground. They were having a "Christmas in July" this weekend and were starting to decorate when we left. I would highly recommend this campground for families, couples and anyone that loves camping. Will definitely return next year. We camped at Buffalo Lake Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Indian Creek COE, Monroe City, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful COE park. We had site 110 which had an amazing view of the lake. Plenty of room for our 27 foot trailer and truck. Level and paved site. We were there during the week and there was only one other camper in our loop, but it was supposed to fill up for the weekend. There is a marina for boat rental with a convenience store. We had an electric only site which wasn't a problem. Quite a ways from the interstate but worth the drive. The bathrooms could have been cleaner. In 5 days only saw one person pressure washing. No liquid soap or dispenser to wash your hands in the bathroom. Literally thousands of gnats flying around (not the campground's fault) because of the standing water from the pressure washer. But all in all a great campground. Oh yes, the tick problem is bad this year. We camped at Indian Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

Devil's Lake State Park, Baraboo, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We were in site #171. It was an open area with only 3 other campers while we were there. We had originally booked site #210, but it wasn't a good site so we were able to switch. Most of the sites aren't very level so we had a bit of trouble getting it to level. However, we loved the large grassy area that our dog was able to rest in without laying in gravel or dirt. It is a beautiful park. My husband caught quite a few fish so he was happy. We left the Thursday before Memorial Day and I'm sure it will be full up for the weekend. We enjoyed the relatively few people in our section of the campground. We stayed in the Northern Lights loop. Bathrooms and private showers were spotlessly clean. We would stay again. We camped at Devil's Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Governor Dodge State Park, Dodgeville, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

A beautiful park with breathtaking scenery and a beautiful waterfall. Lots of trails to hike and fishing opportunities. Site was spacious and shaded, 30 A with water nearby. The park itself was wonderful. The camp hosts could have done a better job of cleaning the bathrooms. In the 3 days that we were there I don't think they ever cleaned them. We would return though just because of the park itself. We camped at Governor Dodge State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Dam West Recreation Area COE, Carlyle, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in site #49 which was right on the water. Spectacular view of the lake. Literally just steps from the water. My husband caught lots of fish, so he was happy. Sites are a little close together, but not bad. We had an electric site, so had to get water, but not a problem. Bathrooms could have been a little cleaner, but are old, so maybe not the easiest to maintain. Had to go outside the park to buy firewood, but it was reasonable where we bought it. We would definitely stay again and plan to next year. We camped at Dam West Recreation Area COE in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful park with lots of shade trees. We had water and electric hookups. Just a very short walk to Lake Michigan from our site.
