Lakewood Camping Resort, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here with 5 grandkids (ages 10-12). The kids definitely enjoyed the water park, putt putt golf, daily kids activities and putt putt golf. Each of these are maintained and operated safely and are maintained well. The actual camping area and full hookups are a bit tired. I.E., sewer was at least 8' away from our coach and literally in our neighbors site, electrical control boxes are very weathered and worn, water connection stand are very loose and wobbly. As we said, the kids had a great time. A great value for our large crowd of grand kids. Campground facilities are becoming worn. We camped at Lakewood Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Huntington / Fox Fire KOA, Milton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA is at a very convenient point along our route back from North Carolina and we have stopped several times. The staff was very friendly, check-in was smooth and we were lead quickly to our site (as is the KOA way). Wish we good say lots of good stuff about the campground beyond that but we cannot. In our experience, the campground is older and is beginning to show signs of wear. Most, if not all sites are gravel/dirt. As a consequence when it rains, sites and roads are muddy. Some of the occupants appear longer term and the sites are a bit cluttered. We camped at Huntington / Fox Fire KOA in a Motorhome.

The Campus RV Park, Independence, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Most of comments have been made. Park is older but reasonable condition. Staff was helpful. Residents (short and long term) were very friendly. But trains, trains, trains.

While I am a confident and experienced Class A coach operator, the large curbs were very pronounced while backing into our site. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.

Twin Fountains RV Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Pulled in just for an overnight stay on the way south based on the ease of getting to the park. WOW - very nice park. As the DW said "this is the first RV 'Resort' that is really what I'd consider a resort". Well run, personable staff, fairly priced.

This park is on a side hill but very well laid out. Only issue we had was a very sloped approach into our site. Doable but our towed sat at a very steep angle while the coach was level. We camped at Twin Fountains RV Park in a Motorhome.

Corral Drive-In RV Park, Guymon, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

What a great little park in the middle of Oklahoma. Park has wide internal roads, wide and long sites and good utilities. Everything about this little park is a "10" except the 'lonesome train whistle' at 6:30 AM. There is a faint whine of traffic on US 54 but it is faint.

Considering the remoteness of the little town of Guymon - a real gem. We camped at Corral Drive-In RV Park in a Motorhome.

Route 66 RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a brand new RV "resort" as a part of the Route 66 Casino. We stopped here due to 50+ MPH winds on I-40. Good decision. The park is brand new, well laid out, with extremely nice amenities (workout room, computers/printers, lots of space, pool/water park). Given all of these it might be considered a destination park vs a casino park BUT it is 20 miles from Albuquerque. So unless you gamble it runs a little thin on destination things to do except gamble and watch a limited show venue.

We were glad to be there considering the alternatives on I40. There is no shade - it is Brand new. Great site - might be a bit pricey when the park comes off there "grand opening" pricing. We camped at Route 66 RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Meteor Crater RV Park, Winslow, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park - not much here other than the Meteor Crater but the park was well run and had tight key code access. Showers/restroom were very modern and clean. Only comment is that the handicap restroom/shower was locked and key was needed from front office. I can manage in a standard shower but much easier for me in a facility with bars. We camped at Meteor Crater RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Stockton RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here as an overnight stay off I-10. Wasn't sure what to expect in the middle of West Texas. What we got is a solid park that is a bit worn, but extremely friendly and easy to get to. From check-in to a bite to eat at the on site Roadrunner Cafe, to the roving host - everyone was down home friendly. While the park is a bit dated and the restroom could use an update, overall a nice surprise in the middle of nowhere. Easy access, yet no interstate noise. We camped at Fort Stockton RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sunset RV Resort, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is a solid RV park with a few drawbacks. Turning in off the Hamilton Pool Rd is a little tricky simply because the traffic is fairly heavy. I would recommend better visibility for their signing. Our site was a bit uneven, causing one of our front wheels to be off the ground. Not a serious problem for a 3 day stay. The restroom/shower is clean and okay but not handicapped equipped. There are several tighter turns, got half way a turn and had to stop and unhook our toad.

One of the other reviewers mentioned the host - he is a real bright spot for any RVer. Accommodating and eager to help in anyway he could. We camped at Sunset RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Gulf Coast RV Resort, Beaumont, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for just an overnight. What a pleasant surprise. The park is very well maintained with lots of room to pull through spaces. On the way to Gulf Coast RV, we became a bit worried looking at the various mobile home parks that were a very worn. Then we made the turn onto Brooks and over the RR tracks - even more worried - and bingo bango bongo - Gulf Coast RV Resort. VERY NICE surprise.

The park has a pool, a breakfast buffet and small store. Again very nice. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Three Flags RV Campground, Wildwood, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very handy to The Villages. Easy off I-75 and quiet. Entrance is well marked and the staff is very friendly. Most sites are graveled and grass. The park is well maintained. The overall park is a decent value but is dated. Restrooms were very small without doors - just a very flimsy draw curtain. This is an okay park - a bit dated but orderly. We camped at Three Flags RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Mayberry Campground, Mount Airy, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

The park is very convenient to find and get to from I-74, just be careful you find the entrance straight ahead at the intersection. No road noise from the interstate. Once in the park, check-in was easy and quick. We had a pull through site that was very narrow. All roads and spaces are gravel. Our site was a less than level: not bad, but front to rear was more than 3 degrees off.

The park is very large but quiet and orderly. We camped at Mayberry Campground in a Motorhome.

Sun Valley Campground, Chillicothe, Ohio

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Check in was a bit of challenge. We'd called on the way to make sure we could get a site - yes we could and told the office we'd be in about 5:30. We were told if there isn't anyone in the office call. We got there at 5:25 and called. It took a couple of minutes for the person to come get us but they did. Note: this is a cash only park.

The site we were assigned was gravel but easy enough to level our coach on. Hook ups were easily accessed.

Overall: Sun Valley was easy to find - fairly priced. Restrooms were adequate but just adequate. Lots of bare wood very open layout. Some turns were a bit tight. This was okay for an overnight with a pretty view of a local lake. We camped at Sun Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Moon River RV Resort, Mohave Valley, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is reasonable easy access off US 95.

The rates were very reasonable.

The swimming pool is a bit small but adequate for our grandkids.

The check in was very easy.

Spaces were long and easy to get into.

Layout of the park was considerate for longer units with toads.

The reason for the overall lower rating is the park is well worn. The pool looks nothing like their literature and there seemed to be several long term residents. Picnic table are heavily worn.

If you are staying overnight or visiting to use the casinos or river attractions - go for it. We camped at Moon River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Orange Grove RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a well laid out park. Easy to get into with 38' Class A with a toad.

Very handy to Route 58 for easy access but not to close for noise.

The pull throughs were very well organized and more than adequate for total unit.

The centralized restroom/shower/laundry are very well maintained and coded entry pad. It helps insure that the facilities remain that way.

The pool was medium sized but adequate.

THE issue is sugar ants!! Apparently the dry spell that Calif has been in has increased the sugar ant population. As a consequence the staff sells and recommends using something to deter the sugar ants from invading your coach.

We try to be cautious of "hitchhikers" coming in via anything that might be touching the ground. However, we were not made aware of the issue until AFTER we paid.

We'd probably would have stayed at this park anyways - just would have like to have known beforehand. We camped at Orange Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.
