Poche Plantation, Convent, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Our big rig was very comfortable on site 80. Level concrete, fast Wi-Fi as well as 50 amp and all services functioned very well. A guided tour was free offered with our week long stay and the guide was none other than the owner. The entire staff was surprising informative as well as friendly and attentive. The delightful tour of the mansion also included a separate museum on the property, an historic grave yard and the famous architecture of the 200 year old Saint Michaels and its beautiful grotto. We hiked with our grandchildren along the banks of the Mississippi River and afterwards we enjoyed a soak in their Large Hot Springs Hot Tub in their art filled pool area adorned with murals depicting local scenery. There was a fully stocked library, a movie room, fabulous porch swings, a restaurant, cottages and recreation house with a usable guest kitchen.

I read reviews of Poche and can say with fact, our 40' coach felt well accommodated and our group encountered pleasantly to our delight only genuine southern hospitality from all in the campground. We enjoyed all the attractions, places to eat and especially music and seafood night at Hymel's just a mile from our campsite. Best Plantation was Houma House Plantation and Gardens approx 6 miles from our rig. This is my first review and what motivated me to do the review was to let all know the jewel in Louisiana between historic New Orleans and tye Capitol Baton Rouge. We took excursions to both cities that were easily accessible via day tripping in our tow car.

We will be BACK!!! We camped at Poche Plantation in a Motorhome.

Okatoma Resort & RV Park, Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We did not think this park accommodated our large rig quite so well. We found the place kind of stale and not very inviting. We cut our stay short due to parking next to a rig where a large dog barked often and no one picked up the mess when walking it on others sites. Thinking we could find better we left for Louisiana. The Internet was not working was another reason we left. We camped at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in a Motorhome.
