Indian Mary County Park, Merlin, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Gorgeous campground. Lots of meadow areas. Great areas to walk around and explore, although not too many areas to get down to the river. Great playground and disc golf course. Weekend ice cream cart provides an opportunity for a great treat. Our site was level and, although we were on the opposite side of our trailer doors (fire pit, picnic table, etc), we had a lot of room as it opened up to a meadow area. Most sites are very close together so privacy is not real great.

Campground is very close to a busy highway. One side has a fence between the campground and the roadway but the other side of the campground (Umpqua Joe side) has no fence dividing the busy roadway from the campground. Some of the campsites literally butt right up to the road. The highway can be very busy and fast at times. Would be very cautious if camping with young children on that side of the park. Campground is beautiful but I am unable to rate higher due to my concern with the proximity of the roadway to the campground, with no fence. My children are old enough to know to stay away from the roadway but I am concerned for others that may have smaller children. I worry that a small child could easily wander into the roadway and be hit by a car. We camped at Indian Mary County Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

SWIMMING HOLE: RAINBOW (1/2 mile past campground)

River is very swift and great for kayaking, rafting, etc. but we did not find very many good swimming holes nearby. There is a great sandy beach and little swimming area about a half mile past the campground called Rainbow but be cautious as there are occasional jet boats that come flying up the river as well as a little more of a swift current offshore. Rainbow is a great place to take kids as long as they stay near the shore.

Sunset Campground, Klamath Falls, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

WOW!!!!! This place is AMAZING!!! Excellent campground, friendly camp hosts, beautiful lake, great hiking trails, and gorgeous views!! Campsites are well maintained. Bathrooms are very nice. No hook-ups but well worth "dry camping" for all of the pluses this campground has to offer!! Water and bathrooms are nearby all sites. Sites are semi-private and the distance between the campsites makes it feel like you're not camping with a bunch of people you don't know. There are trails that go near the campsites (between the lake and the campsites) but even that was not a bother. A short walk/ride/paddle/drive will get you to the main Lake of the Woods campground which offers a general store, marina, restaurants and more. There are also a lot of scheduled movies, bands, etc. throughout the camp season. Our children LOVED the wooded areas and found many little adventures between the woods, the lake, and the hiking trails :-) You can bet we will be visiting this campground again very soon!! We would definitely recommend this campground/lake/resort!! We camped at Sunset Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lake Siskiyou Beach and Camp, Mount Shasta, California

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here to try out our new trailer before traveling a long distance for Memorial Day Weekend. We stayed prior to "camp season" (before Memorial Day Weekend) so there were very few people staying when we stayed and a lot of the amenities (restaurant, beach rentals, outdoor movies, etc.) were not open yet. The campground was clean and the people at the front desk were very helpful. Although the campsite that we stayed at was not near the water, the beach and marina areas are within short walking distance from the campground. There were also cute little cabins onsite. We did not go inside but they looked like they were really nice. Cabins/yurt are always a plus for us, since we often camp with friends/family that do not have a trailer/RV and may not want to camp in a tent. The cabins are located near the water and electric sites and near the lake. We would recommend this campground for all types of camping (RV, trailer, tent, and cabin rentals). We camped at Lake Siskiyou Beach and Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Glenyan RV Park & Campground , Ashland, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We booked this campground online. The website looked great and this place definitely has potential, however, there are quite a few "residents" living at this campground. There is junk, cars, old RVs and trailers all over the place (mostly toward the end of the campground just before you drive out). We were reserved for 3 nights and only ended up staying there for one night, due to the fact that we did not feel comfortable having our children at this campground. The camp grounds were actually not bad (clean and seemed somewhat maintained) but the people that were "hanging out" and "driving around" the campground made it terrible. We will definitely NEVER stay at this campground again and do not recommend it to anyone!! We camped at Glenyan RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.
