Grand Oaks Resort & Museum, Lady Lake, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

A great place for weekend getaway. The RV resort area is not too large - but all the lots are big. Most have concrete pads and picnic tables. Many of the lots over look the horse riding and training area which is a really great view. The resort boasts 7 miles of paved walking/bike trails. The only downside is that there is no Wi-Fi or cable TV available at any of the RV sites. For as much as they charge and as nice as this place is - that should a standard amenity. We camped at Grand Oaks Resort & Museum in a Motorhome.

Must go to the Bistro to eat - great food and reasonable prices. The nicest thing is that there are horse shows, dog shows, etc nearly every weekend and they are completely free to attend and watch.

New Green Acres RV Park , Walterboro, South Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

For most, this would be just an overnight stop while traveling I-95 because not much touristy things are available in this immediate area. That being said - this is a really nice location. They have clearly set this up with 'big rigs' in mind. Probably the widest and longest sites we have ever stayed at. The entire campground is shaded with tall pines. On interesting feature - the owners here have set up the sites with Digital cable rather than the analog that everyone else uses. REALLY makes a difference in the picture. Nice place and we would stay here again. Another big plus - they are very fairly and reasonably priced. We camped at New Green Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Harvest Moon RV Park, Adairsville, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Used this as an over night spot while traveling I-75. Staff was friendly and helpful. The interior roads are dirt - so it would not be fun in the rain. Did not tour the area so unknown what attractions might be nearby. But, as a convenient location to I-75 when traveling - we could recommend it. It is only about an hour or so North of Atlanta. So it is a good place to stop and get up your courage to drive your big rig thru Atlanta - LOL A little pricey for what it is. Nothing special as far as amenities - it is just a convenient place to stop. Grocery and restaurants are nearby. We camped at Harvest Moon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Eagle's Roost RV Resort, Lake Park, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This was a convenient spot as we traveled South on I-75. We did not visit the area so can only review it as a suitable over night stop. After a rain, it can be a bit muddy. All the sites were under trees so there is no satellite service. However, there were ample OTA TV stations. That is good because there is no cable TV. WiFi and water pressure were good. Interior roads are paved but it is better to unhook your towed vehicle before navigating them to avoid any problems with tight turns. It is right on I-75 so there is highway noise. We camped at Eagle's Roost RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Renfro Valley RV Park, Mount Vernon, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped here while traveling south on I-75. Perfect place for an over night stay. The Passport America rate of $17.50 made it an easy choice. It is only about 1/2 mile from I-75 but there wasn't much road nose at all. Cable TV, and water pressure were very good. True - this is a bare bones location, but easy in and out makes it worthwhile. We would stay here again when traveling I-75. We camped at Renfro Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Wayne County Fairgrounds & RV Park, Belleville, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We were not really expecting anything great - but found this place perfect as a base camp for visiting the area. The staff are very friendly and helpful with directions and etc. The RV section is set apart from the main activity area of the fair grounds - but only a very brief walk away. Plenty of OTA TV stations and great satellite reception. Water pressure was good. The only negative is the driveway spacing. While the lots are generally ample size, the width of the driveway makes it very difficult to get in and out of your site if you have a large motor home or are pulling a big 5th wheel. If the site in front or in back of you is vacant - no problem. Otherwise ....... good luck. We camped at Wayne County Fairgrounds & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Elkhart Campground, Elkhart, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We were here visiting RV manufactures and etc. Our section was okay - but it appeared that other sections of the park the lots were very closely spaced. Some interior roads would be a little difficult for large RV's. Our section was open so satellite worked great. However, they charge $2/night for cable. Did not realize that until bill was paid. What a rip-off. And, only a small amount of their sites have cable TV available. Definitely need some trees trimmed to make it safer for large RV's. Overall - good place, with many of the sites shaded. Only negative - seems overpriced. But, with not much competition in the area, they can get by with with it. We camped at Elkhart Campground in a Motorhome.

Lake Haven Retreat, Indianapolis, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here several days while visiting Indianapolis. Its location is convenient when you want to be close (but not to close) to the city. A 17% total of city/state taxes really impacts the nightly price for a lot. Water pressure is Fair, cable is Okay and the WiFi was out due to a lightning strike. Big negative is the interior roads and site spacing. Depending on where your site is - affects the path you have to drive. Many of the turns are tight and many have large boulders placed around them to keep people from driving on the grass. The site spacing is another strange setup. Coaches are parked Driver side to Driver side. When both have their slides open - there is only a few feet between them. On the passenger side - there is about 20 feet between the coaches. We camped at Lake Haven Retreat in a Motorhome.

Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf, Park City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This was just an overnight stop while traveling on I-65 so we did not get to see all the caves and etc that the area has to offer. The setting is very nice and the campground is in a hilly area. This place is 'big rig friendly" - sort of. The roadways are tight and the lot spacing and driveways are close. Do not attempt to drive thru here with the towed vehicle still attached. Seemed pricey given that there is no OTA TV available, no cable and only spotty WiFi. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Motorhome.

Manchester KOA, Manchester, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

As KOA's go - this is better than most. The site spacing was good you could actually get a large motor home in there. All the sites are shaded so satellite service is not available. Water pressure was also very good. The only big downside is the pricing. $53 - even with KOA discount, is way out of line. And that was NOT their most expensive site.!! We camped at Manchester KOA in a Motorhome.

Parnell Creek RV Park, Woodville, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small family owner park about 25 miles East of Huntsville. It has direct 4 lane access to the Space Center and all of Huntsville activities and sights. There is no cable and supposedly there are several OTA stations available, however, we were never able to get even one. Satellite reception is good. One really different feature is that this park has a satellite dish at nearly every site and will rent you a converter box to use during your stay. The owners seem very diligent in trying to improve their park. The only negative we had was highway noise. Hwy 72 is a busy 4 lane highway 24/7 and the park is adjacent to it. We camped at Parnell Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

McKinney Campground COE, Cartersville, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

As is typical with many COE parks - the setting was heavily wooded and beautiful. Reportedly there are 7 million visitors a year to this park - it is easy to see why. It is quite large and spread out over a big area. It is heavily wooded so satellite signals are not likely to get thru. There area few OTA stations available. We camped at McKinney Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Lake Oklawaha RV Resort, Fort McCoy, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

First off - this is now a KOA Park so the listing title is a little bit off. We visit KOA's often when we travel. This location is definitely different. The sites are much larger than normal for a KOA. However, this location is in the Ocala National Forest and the nearest town (Silver Springs/ Ocala) is over 20 miles away - so come fully stocked with supplies. This KOA easily supports big rig RV's. This appears to be a 'go-to' destination for ATV enthusiasts since it joins into well over 100 miles of ATV trails in the National Forest. The only downside is the location of the water, sewer and power hookups. Whom ever originally laid out this park clearly had some weird ideas. Nearly all the sites have sewer on one side and power and water on the other side. Most modern RV's have all hook ups on the 'drivers' side. Therefore, make sure you have sewer and water hose extension with you. Other than that - this is a really nice park and worth the drive. We camped at Lake Oklawaha RV Resort in a Motorhome.

If you have an ATV - this is the place for you. All the roads are paved and they adjoin to the trail system of the Ocala National Forest. Make sure you bring and necessary supplies (food). There is not any major grocery store for over 20 miles. Wi-Fi - this place has really good wifi - there is no cable TV but you should be able to get some OTA stations. Satellite works great.

We have stayed here several times while traveling I-75. Excellent location. Some sites are a little tight and navigation is a little tricky in some spots. Recommend Hooking and Un-hooking the tow vehicle at the front of the park by the office. Other than that, all is great. Never had any problems with service. Clinton / Knoxville North KOA, Clinton, Tennessee

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We only stayed one night while traveling. The sites appear to be mostly pull thru and are advertised as Big Rig friendly. We would have to dispute that claim. The site was barely long enough for our 42 ft RV. If the park had been full - it would have been very difficult to navigate thru it. Leaving in the morning was a challenge. If there is someone equally long next to you - or across from your site, there is not enough room to turn out from the site onto the driveway. Fortunately for us, the site across was empty so we could pull thru it to the next driveway and then turn out. We had to wait until we left the park to hook up the tow vehicle. Overall it is a nice location and the staff is very friendly. We camped at Clinton / Knoxville North KOA in a Motorhome.
