Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We choose the campground for its proximity to Memphis, 15 minutes by car to enjoy famous BBQ, fried hamburgers, & a cruise on the awesome Mississippi river. We accomplished all three, stayed an extra day. The only campground on our whirl wind trip that we want to go back to just to enjoy the campground. The road that leads into the campground does look daunting as the sign says no trucks. The road is paved and very accessible for a large RV. All the riverfront sites were taken. We had a nice pull through site that had shade trees that allowed us to sit out in the evening and talk with our neighbors. When you arrive, the staff promptly greets you and leads you by golf cart to your site. You can walk or drive right down to the Mississippi River and watch it flow by. Our fur baby enjoyed the long walk through the green grass & going down the nature trails. The ten washers and dryers are free to use. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Mississippi River boat cruise. Easy 15 minute drive. Park on the cobblestones north of the riverboat for free. The cobblestones are on an angel but it is the parking lot. Informative talk and can feel the power of the river.

Tiki RV Park & Campground, Saint Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

GPS took us right to the campground, a short turn off of Route 2, up a hill, another turn into the campground and one more turn to a pull thru site near the entrance. Trees were lacking at the camp site but that was fine since the sun could shine directly on the motor home in the 52 degree weather in June. Plenty of trees in the nearby sites that were not pull through but we did not stay much at the campground because we were out and about in nearby St. Ignace. The mosquitoes in the evening were mostly in the wooded area as the open area had more of a breeze. No cable tv. WI FI was intermittent and it is now coded to access the service. Book exchange at the office. $2.00 washers, $1.00 dryers. Sites close together, mostly the pull through sites, other sites have more space. Great water pressure and electrical service. Relatively level sites. Very accommodating to our late arrival. They keep the sun up until 9pm up here and by 10pm it is just getting dark. Escapees membership saved us 50% for 4 nights. If you are an Escapees member the savings here paid for our membership. We camped at Tiki RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Timmy Lee's Pub, 748 Hey 2, St. Ignace has the best cheese burgers and fries, friendly staff and $2.00 drafts. Deer farm in town, feed new borns from a bottle. location is just a few miles from the center of town or from the casino.

Mountain Glen RV Park, Pikeville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Definitely follow the written route to campground available on their site to avoid the switchback road, as written by a previous reviewer, which was the way the GPS choose. All sites are gravel with tables and a patch of green grass. Stayed in site 40, near the entrance and had a beautiful, unobstructed view of the mountains. All sites have fire rings with grates. Catch & release pond. Lots of geese and the night skies are bright with fireflies. Take a ride to visit the Mennonite community, a couple miles away. Fresh produce, bakery goods, plants, fabric, and even 6 foot long, 1 inch diameter solid fiberglass poles for $2.50 that we just had to stow away in the basement of the motor home for a future unknown project. Close to Fall Creek Falls State Park, and if you are in a 4 wheel drive vehicle & are looking for dirt road adventure, take the short cut route on the GPS. We camped at Mountain Glen RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Leaving the park, take a right and the gas station on the left a couple miles away has breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Ask for the menu at the office & do call ahead to place order. Do not leave this way in the RV as that road goes to the switch back turns.

Little River Park, Milledgeville, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We pulled in here on May 25th at 8 p.m at near dusk. We located the camp host and he was very gracious and friendly showing us several sites that were pull through. The neighbors felt like people we had met before. Everyone was so friendly. Semi gravel sites. Water pressure was good. We had a storm blow through while we're here and the feeling was everyone was together and willing to help each other out any need. But there was no damage. There is an area to launch a boat and you can even rent a boat for $45 an hour but it was not available. We spent 2 nights here instead of one because it was welcoming. WiFi is available. Price was as listed and the price was only $30 a night. Ice across the street at the gas station for a dollar and a half for 20 pounds because the store was closed. Heidi our dog thought it was very dog friendly and she could even splash in the river. We camped at Little River Park in a Motorhome.
