Overland Trail Campground, Fort Davis, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Water pressure is 70psi Electric 121 volt, but only 30 amps No over the air tv, but they offer cable. Not sure how good it is as we did not hook up to it. Had a covered picnic table at the back of the site, but the table really should be replaced. The campground has three entrances. If you are a big rig I would enter the campground from 5th St. If you read the other reviews, they are correct about the management. Think of him like the soup nazi of Seinfeld. He questioned the way I entered the park and parked. Not knowing how tall and long I was and how far my slides went out. I was almost at the point of leaving. As he states "he had been there for 25 years and this is not his first rodeo." And he did not know that I have been a full timer for over three years. So I am not a newbie at this and know my rig. I would not stay there again. Regular rate is $25.00. We camped at Overland Trail Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Poverty Point Reservoir State Park, Delhi, Louisiana

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

I think this is the best state park that I have stayed in. Everything was in good shape and working order. It was clean and well maintained WiFi was 1-3 Mbps and that is with only a few campers in the park. We camped at Poverty Point Reservoir State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a public golf coarse called Black Bear Golf Club, best looking public coarse I have seen. There is a Mexican restaurant down 80 to the left that was very good.

DiamondJacks Casino and Resort, Bossier City, Louisiana

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

All of the hook ups were in good working order. The park was clean and all concrete roads and pads. Good location with easy on and off I20. My site and all of the other sites were not level. Rigs were either jacked up or slammed to the ground on one end. Most of the trees drop some sort of acorns. We camped at DiamondJacks Casino and Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Palestine RV Park, Palestine, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in site #27. The road going to the CG had low branches. The paved road in the park was narrow. Had lots of grass burs, kept our shoes outside. Lots of red ants. Water pressure was 80-105 psi. Many OTA channels. 2-3 bars Verizon and ATT. The new owners were friendly and said that they have made a lot of improvements since they bought it. We have a 40 ft 5th wheel with 4 slides. We camped at Palestine RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Safe Harbor RV Park, Riverside, Alabama

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice view of the lake. Owner and staff were very friendly and kind. My two complaints are, The water spicket is below ground level. We had a LARGE black ant infestation. This was the main reason for my low score. We camped at Safe Harbor RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Casa Blanca Intl. State Park, Laredo, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Good over the air TV signal. Water pressure is a little low at 60 psi. 2-3 bars on Verizon. Each site comes with a fire pit and picnic table under shelter. Most of the sites are un-level. This is a large state park. It is the only place to stay in the area. Centrally located. The staff is friendly but they are under staffed causing LONG lines to enter the park. On Sunday the back up to the enterence of the park was .4 miles long. It was that way for a couple of hours. We camped at Lake Casa Blanca Intl. State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Green Gate Grove (55+ park), Mission, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

This is our first stay at a 55 plus park. LOVE IT!! This park has a mix of houses, RV's and park models. Every spot is owned by a person, so you need to own or rent from the owner. Water pressure is good, but it tastes a little funny. Only 2 bars from Verizon. OTA Tv is good as we get all the major networks. Nice pool, hot tub, bathrooms and clubhouse. It is clean and is well maintained. Lots of activities to do here. My only complaint,is that the wifi SUCKS st the clubhouse. I would stay here again with out hesitation. We camped at Green Gate Grove (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We are staying on there newly opened part. It just opened up 2 weeks ago. Brand new laundry and bathrooms with showers. Large sites large, level and gravel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if I am in the area. My daily rate was based on the weekly rate. We camped at VFW Post 6873 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

City of Throckmorton RV Park, Throckmorton, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is the worst campground I have stayed in. We stopped here traveling through TX. The sites are long but skinny.

Positives :

1.The $15 nightly rate, but I would rather stay in a Walmart

parking lot

2.Great Verizon signal

Negatives :

1.The pace is covered in those tiny thorny balls that stick to EVERYTHING! I forget the name of them.

2. ZERO over the air channels, but they advertise basic cable, but all of the outlets are broken.

3.90psi of water

4.my site, 11, is not level. R side wheels off the ground when level.

5. Nothing close by. We camped at City of Throckmorton RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Marina Bay Lake Cove RV Resort, Dickinson, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed there for a month (4 weeks), not 30 days for $525 including power.

PROS:
1.Very clean and well maintained campground
2.The hosts were very kind and wanted to help you out in any way that they could
3.All concrete roads and pads

CONS:
1.We could not get wifi at our 5ver
2.Driving through the CG can be tight at times as several of the campers have several cars/trucks at there site and will block about half of the road around the CG.

I would stay there again with out hesitation. We camped at Marina Bay Lake Cove RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Stayed for 30 days
PROS:
Large sites with lots of room
Good OTA tv
Good Verizon signal
Very quite and wildlife come through the park
All hook ups in great condition
Close to town but not in the middle of it
CONS:
No wifi, but for $12 a night it is a GREAT place to stay.
You can only stay for 30 days. We came to avoid the cold and joined the local gym to get back into shape. We camped at Victoria City Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Circle W RV Park, Rockport, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for a week

PROS:

The staff was friendly

The cable worked well

CONS:

The sites and the roads through the campground are tight. (Their new section K are large back in spots)

The grass was long and had spiky things

They have a lot of people living there, with children

THINGS THEY CAN NOT HELP:

The OTA tv sucks, only two Chanel's

Verizon only gets 1-2 bars

I would stay there in a pinch, but would try to go elsewhere. We camped at Circle W RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hope Village Inn & RV Park, Hope, Arkansas

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

I only stayed there one night.

PROS:

?

CONS:

They say there is wifi and it is non existent.

Had to use a 30 amp connection as the 50 amp was broken.

Good for an overnight stop if you could not go any further and need power. The small park seems really sketchy and has a handful of run down campers.

I would not stay there again. We camped at Hope Village Inn & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

I stayed there for a week.

PROS:

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Great wifi.

Clean.

I noticed that they were actively maintaining and improving the campgrounds.

CONS:

Shopping is not close by.

My wife REALLY loved this CG. Because of them, we try to find smaller campgrounds.

We would stay there again with no hesitation. We camped at Wagon Train RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pecan Park Riverside RV , San Marcos, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate was based on staying there a month. I know that they have been hit twice within a 7 month period from MAJOR flooding. But within that month that we were there, I saw no repairs happening. They even had to change my electric meter out as it was not working because it was packed with mud. The site we stayed at was like a mud bog after it rained and the through road would be under water. It would take about a week of dry weather to start getting better. There is a lot of silt as their top soil.

They advertise standard sites as low as $400 a month, but that is for people staying there for months. The washers and dryers were not replaced after the floods and you can tell as they sound horrible. Wifi is hit or miss. The hot tub was fixed after we were there for 2 1/2 weeks.

The staff was friendly.

I would not stay there again unless they made repairs and upgrades. So sad as I read that they were voted within the top ten RV parks in the US in 2014. We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV in a Fifth Wheel.
