La Wis Wis Campground USFS, Packwood, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is a great place to stay for small RV's, tent trailers, and tents of course. The loops are pretty tight and I would not recommend bringing an RV any longer than 22ft. Located along the Cowlitz River, this campground sits next to Mt Rainier National Park. My family has camped here numerous times through out the last 23 years. My sons favorite thing about this place was the swimming hole about 1/4 mile up the river from the main campground. The locals call this place "blue hole". The water is very cold even in the mid August heat. We camped at La Wis Wis Campground USFS in a Tent Trailer.

Farragut State Park, Athol, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park during the historic heat wave of July 2015. On July 2nd it was 102 degrees at our site. The site we stayed in (023) is a full shaded pull-through site and made the heat a little more bearable. The campsites are very well maintained and the staff was very courteous. We found a secluded spot on the lake shore and enjoyed the cool water during the heat This park is a 4500 acre former naval base from 1942-1946. A lot of history there if you're in to that. If you bring a boat the boat launch gets very crowded about 10 AM. We will definitely visit this park again. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The registration store has ice and a few other things, but there is a little grocery store just on the other side of US 95 to the left.

Beverly Beach State Park, Newport, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at this park many times over the past 10 years. B-loop is very hard to get a reservation for as it is very close to the beach and has a very high demand. Oregon allows up to nine months ahead of time to make a reservation in any of their state parks and with some sites they are constantly booked. This park also has yurts that are available for rent, but also almost impossible to reserve unless you call exactly nine months to the day of your requested days. We have never had a bad experience there and the volunteer staff have always been courteous and helpful. we have stayed in this park in a yurt, travel trailer, tent trailer, and a tent. We camped at Beverly Beach State Park in a Tent Trailer.
