Raton Pass Camp and Cafe (Formerly Cedar Rail), Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night on our way to Colorado. Sites are close but being perched atop the hill is great. Little noise from hwy but the surrounding scenery and sunset is worth it. Level sites, good hookups, clean bathrooms and the camp host was helpful. Generally quite and friendly people around. I prefer the top sites but if your last minute minute you may not get the best spot. Filled up the Friday evening we arrived. We camped at Raton Pass Camp and Cafe (Formerly Cedar Rail) in a Travel Trailer.

Angel Fire RV Resort, Angel Fire, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

Maybe I'm not used to the finer things in life but awesome place. Pristine site, facilities, on and off site activities...what more can you ask for. Good proximity to exploring Taos and Red River areas. Felt like royalty living among the big boys in my 18 footer. Definitely will return. We camped at Angel Fire RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Childress City Fair Park, Childress, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped while passing through to our destination and needed an overnight spot to rest. Self pay, felt safe and some lighting from the park area. Good 50 amp electrical connections. Kids had a blast using the older playground in the morning. It's older but city seems welcoming to RVers. Back in grass sites were fairly level and had picnic tables. Rating is because site is basic but for $15 and electricity you can't beat. If you are an RV resort type person you will want to pass.......but if you don't mind it will work for you. We camped at Childress City Fair Park in a Travel Trailer.

Garden of the Gods Campground, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

First off do some reach about town and area it's end. Although this is one of the nicer parks in the area you may be surprised about the area. Due to Colorado Marijuana laws there are dispensaries in the area. In addition the type of people may not be in your comfort zone. Some may not mind but it was not desirable in my opinion. Spots are very close to each but i expect that in a city setting. moderately shady in most spaces. My space did not have much in regards to parking. I had to squeeze my truck next to my trailer and the bumper was right on the crub of the first turn down the interior roads of the park. Would I return? It Depends. If I needed to be in the immediate area then yes. If I was just passing through, the. No. If your picky this probably would not be a good fit for you. However location to The Garden is great and staff is friendly. We camped at Garden of the Gods Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Oasis Resort & RV Park, La Marque, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Ok considering this is not a destination location (in my opinion) and more of a stop over area it was more then adequate. We made a reservation for two spots as had travel companions. Called two days prior to make reservations. We advised of a late arrival but they said they could not guarantee someone would not take our spot. They indicated many ppl come in throughout the night and will take a spot if available. In any case we gave it a shot. Arrived at night but only one spot reserved. Luckily they listed other open spots and we found another for our companion. Site we spacious put not table, fire pit, etc. All spots all pull thru that I could tell. I would of rated 8 but knocked down due to reservation mixup and they are really first come first serve as someone can take your spot during late arrival if they are selfish. Trash bins were also overflowing but maybe it was a trash day. All in all good stopover spot with good pricing and adequate sites. Bathroom/showers were clean. We camped at Oasis Resort & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pilot Knoll Park & Campground, Argyle, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Great place for a weekend gateway. 5 minutes from town but feels like your away except for airport traffic. Highland Village is a very safe Dallas suburb. So if you are travling through and looking for a safe spot this is a great option. 50 amp electrical and water hookup. Excellent pressure as I had to turn down my regulator. Utilities are dedicated so no sharing a utility pole. No issues running AC. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Snake River RV Park & Campground, Idaho Falls, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived at 1130 AM and previous guest had already checked out so we were able to get our spot. Had a pull-through site which was relatively flat. Only used a small block to bring one side up. We could of left alone but the wife is very sensitive to slope.

Full hookup site and all were fully functional with no issues.

Bathrooms were a bit dated but relatively clean.

Overall it is a decent place if you need a place to stop near the interstate. Yes you can hear freeway traffic but since I come from a metropolitan area it didn't bother me.

Park is a little dated but than again most are. Spots are tight if you have a big rig. Luckily I can whip our little 18' trailer around with ease so navigating side was a breeze.

Mad dash during checkout time. Don't dawdle around. They do come out daily to make sure people are vacating their sites. I don't mind this but just be prepared. This is not a leisurely exit. Entrance and exit is fairly tight. They have a dump station but it's in an odd position as an island near the entrance/exit. Lots of people and activity. Dirt interior roads.

Would we be back? Sure if needed to stop in this area. However I would rather be in a state/national park type setting. We have kids so those work better for us. We camped at Snake River RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Massacre Rocks State Park, American Falls, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

My ratings are for comparable state/national park campgrounds. I'm not comparing to RV Parks or Resorts.

This is a Idaho State park with a magnificent views. We staying in the upper section which offers views over the Snake River that excellent. Our spot did not have the view but a short walk took us there. Some spots along the ridge would be excellent except we have small kids and I'm sure one would find a way to tumble down. The lower loop is down in the river bottom. We might choose one of those spots on our return.

Bathrooms/showers are dated but kept clean and stocked.

Staff was friendly and helpful. They offered programs for the kids regarding Oregon Trail, crafting etc. The kids enjoyed this part. Hiking trails are present....I can't rate this one as we only took one quick trek. Rattlesnakes are in the area. One was found that day near campsites. However it was removed by park personnel quickly upon being notified. They ask to report such matter. Firewood avail for $6 from concessions.

We will return again if traveling through. We camped at Massacre Rocks State Park in a Travel Trailer.

New Frontier RV Park, Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived late night. Booked online and left message which the promptly they called back to confirm late arrival and paid balance. They texted door codes to bathroom and laundry.

When we arrived someone was parked in our pull thru spot. So we just selected another figuring we will get things resolved in the morning as they don't mark spots as reserved as some parks do. The people parked their were from a group so I figured they saw and open spot and wanted to be together. No big deal in this case as plenty of similar spots avail.

Full hook up sites with picnic table. No fires allowed. It was nice and felt safe arriving late and through next morning. My site was flat so no need to level. Hookup connections were in good condition.

Bathrooms were excellent condition. Shower stalls spacious with bench and curtain within the stall separating bench area keeping your new clothes draw. Hooks on doors are helpful especially when wrangling little ones.

IMO site is very nice considering your in the middle of the desert. No grass but gravel between sites.

I drove by two other rv parks on the way to this one and New Frontier definitely won for curb appeal.

My only complaint was we left at 11 and office was still closed. Thus if they were more full and someone was in our space we would not have been able to speak to anyone about it.

We will use it again should the need arise. Knock on service was only because no one was avail next morning. We camped at New Frontier RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
