Mountain Pines Campground (formerly Mountain Pines RV Resort), Champion, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

The sign for the campground was easy to spot. This place is Very WELL MAINTAINED! The office/Gatehouse is at the front entrance! The lady who checked us in was super nice and friendly after check in two workers got into their golf cart to show us our site. Nice site (the lanes were a little tight for a 41 ft 5th wheel but do able). They helped us back in like a pro's! Site was great! This place is I would say 75% seasonal sites. I like that there is not a turnover of campers. The seasonal camp owners we met to said they had been here many years. The seasonal campers take pride in here their sites and make them look amazing. The staff.....SUPER AWESOME! I think the outside pool is the biggest we have ever seen!( It is like 1/2 of a football field in size. The inside pool could be a litter cleared. Lifeguards were on duty when we were there. The arcade was nice as well as the jump pillow and mini golf. Our kids had a blast. People have fun cruising the campground in their golf carts. We would and are planning on a return visit! PS: the fireworks were AWESOME as well as the Saturday night entertainment. ( Which was all included in the cost.) We camped at Mountain Pines Campground (formerly Mountain Pines RV Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

Wytheville KOA, Wytheville, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This park is off the interstate a bit so it's quiet, very well maintained and the staff offer true southern hospitality. Good stop over location and a reliable source for overnight campers. The location is convenient from both I-81 and I-77. We stayed in a FHU, 50 amp pull through site. The site was level gravel with Concrete patio, a picnic table and fire pit. We had good cable TV reception. We had good Sprint cell/internet reception. This KOA has a fun center that includes a 6-lane bowling alley, batting cages, a good number of amusement games, fresh made to order pizza, boneless wings and hand dipped ice cream We highly recommend this park and will stay here again as we travel. We camped at Wytheville KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountain Lake Campground & Cabins, Summersville, West Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very family friendly campground with activities every weekend. The campground roads are gravel. Most sites are large and level in areas 2 and 4. Area 4 has lakeside as well as lake view camping sites as well as cozy cabins and yurts (the grass and shrubs are growing in this new, 6 years or so, lakeside addition). A new addition to area 4 is Serenity Point, a beautiful amphitheater located on a cliff point overlooking the lake. About half the sites in area 1 are somewhat small and unlevel. They have a nice pool and jumping pillow. Soapy foam slip n slide at the camp store area and a playground in each camping area. The camp store has a pizza parlor as well as soft serve ice cream and other snack items. The private beach on the lake is very nice and also a boat tie-up area, The putt putt course has been redone and is very nice. The on site restaurant is a smoked BBQ place with awesome food; the smoked ears of corn are out of this world. We camped at Mountain Lake Campground & Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Jim's Campground, Milton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great little campground, not a destination camping resort or a KOA but it is clean, well kept, quiet, peaceful, large sites (in lower camping area). The full hookup area (upper area) seems mostly for permanent/ transient workers, but the lower area has 30 and 50 amp power sites as well as water. We camped at Jim's Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

St. Albans Roadside Park, Saint Albans, West Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small roadside city park that has 3 or 4 overnight spots with 20 and 30 amp service. There is a water fill station and a dump station. There is no charge for use of the campground or fill and dump stations, but donations are accepted. The restrooms are in the public park area and have no showers. The campground sits between the main road and the river, there will be road noise and well as river boat vibrations, but for the price it is a bargain. This is a great stop over campground. We camped at St. Albans Roadside Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a small shopping mall across the road that has a Kroger, K-Mart, McDonalds, Family Style Restaurant ( Mayberry's) Pizza Place, Chinese Restaurant, Goody's , and several other little stores. Also many other restaurants within 1/2 mile. GREAT STOP OVER CAMPGROUND.

Beech Fork State Park, Barboursville, West Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

WE love this park. We stay in old orchard which has 50amp full hookup sites. Great bike riding areas and dog walking paths. Sites are mostly level and good power and water. Nice lake, tennis courts and swimming pool with children's splash area( requires additional small fee). Bathrooms are very good. Downsides: limited cell service ATT or TracPhone (GSM) only, the road in is somewhat narrow, sharp curves, mailboxes and guard rails right on the road you just need to take your time. We camped at Beech Fork State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
