Sugarite Canyon State Park, Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Camped there on May 6th and departed on May 9, 2016. On each hydrant there is a Boil Water Advisory E-Coli notification not mentioned on the website this notice dates from June of 2015, so if you go be sure to fill your water tank. Also there is no fire notice except for propane and white gas cooking devices. The overall campsite is well used and the sites vary as to how level they are. The shower is about 1 mile down the road at the check in, we did not check them. If I were to camp there again I would take site #4, even though it says on the Reserve America site that it was limited to 20'. The actual site was much larger and would take our 27' TT with ease. The dump site is on unlevel ground and does not have water there to rinse down your hose or tank. NM seems to under fund this park it could be a great place. We camped at Sugarite Canyon State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Mountain Views at Rivers Edge RV Resort, Creede, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Mountain View is just a short distance from Creede almost walking distance if you are fit enough for 8800 altitude. All the campsites are large with tables, gravel surface that are level, with full hookups. My only complaint would be that the sewer hook up was locatated near the back of the lot and required an extension for sewer drain. Our site was 128 and we had the afternoon sun (facing west) so the awning didn't help much, you might want to check and see if you can get a site that puts your awning and door facing East.

Great views from any spot in the park, no hiway noise. We camped at Mountain Views at Rivers Edge RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Repatory Theatre in Creede has great shows. Drive around Bachelor's Loop Drive around the old mining sites is easy and takes about about an hour 17 miles, great views. Kip's Bar is good bar food and drinks on Main St.

Royal View Camp Resort, Canon City, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Great park about 1/2 mile off Hwy 50, some highway noise but not bad. Campsites are clean and fairly level with a majority of pull throughs, lot of tree shaded lots. Camp ground is a few miles from Royal Gorge and 10 mile west of Canon City. Our trip to Pikes Peak was about 60 miles +/-. There is a short trail behind the office that affords a great view of the Royal Gorge Bridge in the afternoon sun. Pool was well maintained and nice for an afternoon swim . We camped at Royal View Camp Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Canon City is 10 miles east of the camp ground, many eating places and shopping if you need something. Royal Gorge Railroad there with trips though the gorge along the Arkansas river. 60 miles west to Salida Colorado along Hwy 50 great views of the mountains and river on good road.

South Fork Campground, South Fork, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is laid out strange. We had a river side site and to get there you needed to wander around the park. The roads are not well defined. Our campsite #40 was anything but level, and since it was a back in it took some attempts to get in the right site.

We booked for four nights, we had to leave early because of unforeseen reasons. We asked about a credit for our next visit, but they don't do that. I didn't expect a refund, but a credit would have been a good will gesture. I guess that they don't expect you to ever return. I will not disappoint them on that. We camped at South Fork Campground in a Travel Trailer.
