Mohican State Park, Loudonville, Ohio

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Our assigned spot was directly next to a construction site but they moved us to a pretty spot on the water. The site was fairly level and the river is scenic. 50 amp service but no water at our site; they have other sites with full hook ups. Staff very friendly. It probably gets busy in the summer but in April only 20% full. It rained heavily our last day so the non-gravel areas of the camp site were boggy but the RV site itself was gravel and the roads are paved and so not a problem. Excellent hiking trails. We camped at Mohican State Park in a Motorhome.

Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area, Ellicott City, Maryland

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The registration area is away from the camping area and if arriving from the East is hard to access due to a 11 foot underpass restriction. RV sites use the inner loop which has 30 amp power but no water. Sites are about 30 feet apart. Residential housing is visible behind the campsites but we did not have noise problems. Only one place to take on fresh water or dump waste but we did not have to wait. Overall functional but not scenic. We camped at Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area in a Motorhome.

Staunton River State Park, Scottsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Easy check in. We were here in mid April and there were only 2 other campers here. Sites are close together but made no difference. Sites are level and gravel. Lots of tent sites. Rigs > 37 feet would have trouble with the interior roads. Great hiking trails. Small gift shop. Park rangers very friendly and helpful. We camped at Staunton River State Park in a Motorhome.

The park belongs to the International Dark Sky Association. We rented a telescope and enjoyed the night view free of interfering City lights. They have a nice pool but too early to use in April unless you're a polar bear. The River trail is pretty.

McDowell Nature Preserve, Charlotte, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Easy reservations and check in. Our site was level and clean, close to other campers but not claustrophobic. Pretty hiking trails of various lengths and difficulty. Lots of kids but quiet at night. Close to town but feels somewhat remote. Faint traffic noise. We camped at McDowell Nature Preserve in a Motorhome.

Rustic Sands RV Resort Campground, Mexico Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived late but management left a note with our site clearly marked. Sites are crowded and not screened by vegetation at all. The camper next to us was 7 feet away. No problems with utilities and WiFi signal was adequate for low quality video clips. No picnic table or firepit at our site but some had those. Tiki bar part of the campground with pizza and outdoor live music 100 feet from our site but they shut down at 9:45 and were not uncomfortably loud. Site very level and easy to access. Roads were fine. 1/2 mile from beach. We camped at Rustic Sands RV Resort Campground in a Motorhome.

Stone Mountain Heights Mobile Home Park, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We were here for a month while receiving medical care at Emory. The managers are pleasant, kind and easy to deal with but work on a limited schedule. The park is a mixture of full time mobile homes and RVs passing through. No bathrooms, store or playground. Pool closed in Sept. The roads were recently repaved. Our site was level. It was quiet even up front. Water pressure is high but we always use a regulator so no problem. WiFi good at our site. Lots of restaurants and shopping in walking distance. Not scenic but clean, safe, tidy and pleasant for walking. Thankfully they enforce poop scooping for pets. Would stay again if in the area. We camped at Stone Mountain Heights Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Deep Bend Landing, Waynesville, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

A more rural and rustic type of camping experience but terrific if that meets your needs. The owner/manager is exceptionally friendly and helpful, the best we've seen. Our site was 30 yards from a pretty river, shaded with pines and oaks. Easy access for swimming, boating and fishing. Very quiet, had deer near our site one morning. There are no running water bathrooms (has a Port-a-Potty) and the water is sulphery though safe. The owner has to "pilot" you in with his truck since the access road is one lane. We camped at Deep Bend Landing in a Motorhome.

Pinch Pond Family Campground & RV Park, Manheim, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We did not have reservations but called same day and got a site. They have two campgrounds about a mile apart and our GPS initially brought us to the wrong one. Very easy pull through sites. Unlike other reviewers we had no problems with the gates, the sewer, or noise from the shooting range. However the neighbors were a bit noisy until midnight. They have cable hookup if you want that. Convenient to the Renaissance Fair - 5 minute drive. The kind maintaince guy let me use his compressor for a low tire and even helped me set it up. We camped at Pinch Pond Family Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Watkins Glen State Park, Watkins Glen, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived without a reservation but they had a site available. The park ranger was helpful. The campsites are roomy but not private. We had to move after day 1 to a different non-reserved site. Some sites are laid out with difficult back-in access but no problems if nose first. Quiet. Very close to the town but still feels remote. Electric only. We camped at Watkins Glen State Park in a Motorhome.

Don Carter State Park, Gainesville, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new park but there is lots of older vegetation as well as new. Mixture of back in and pull through sites. It was not crowded midweek and we have no trouble finding a nice site. Other campers are visible but well spaced. Gray water trap at each site is convenient. We had 50 amp service. Drive to the park is also very pretty. We camped at Don Carter State Park in a Motorhome.

High Falls State Park, Jackson, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Check in well marked but not on same road as campsites. Lots of pretty sites. The roads are curvy but passable with big rigs. We had water and 30 amp but no sewer; the dump station is handy on the way out.The 50 amp sites are pull through and less private. Friendly staff. We camped at High Falls State Park in a Motorhome.

Lazydays RV Campground, Seffner, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived late but they have an efficient security guard. All sites are paved. Ours was back in. Sites are tight but about average for city type RV park. Big ant pile by the water spigot - the ants used our hose to gain access to our kitchen. Very nice pool. It's a big park right next to their RV sales lot but it was quiet. We camped at Lazydays RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access and check in. You have to pay the entrance fee to get it on the first day even if you are camping. Site was reasonably level but very tight. Difficult to find space for our towed car. Quiet place and nice view of lake. Expensive but you are paying for the location. I would stay again because there is not much else to choose form in this area. Otherwise I would look elsewhere. E.G. Simmons Regional Park, Ruskin, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Busy place but quiet evenings and nights. Sites are on grass and sand, most along the salt marsh mangroves. Most are level, a few trees, about 30 feet between sites, easy access. Great playgrounds, canoes for rent, dock, walking trails. No reservations. Bugs were not bad for March and we did fine with standard DEET spray. We camped at E.G. Crystal Springs COE, Royal, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

The park was only 1/3 full this time of year but probably busy in the summer. We had a level, scenic site overlooking the lake. Most sites are back in and we had no trouble handling with our 34 foot motor home. There are 3 loops all of which have good sites. 50 amp service, water, no sewer but dump site available. Nice fire pit. We had Verizon cell service. The attendant was a great guy and went out of his way to help us with an emergency RV repair. We camped at Crystal Springs COE in a Motorhome.
