Fort Boonesborough State Park, Richmond, Kentucky

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here while visiting friends in Richmond. The campsites are closer together than in any state park we have seen, also noisiest. Concrete factory and busy road with truck traffic nearby. Large unavoidable mud hole next to RV door. Water access is on the right, far off, and power on left. Site barely fit our RV and disconnected toad. On the good side staff are friendly and bathrooms are clean. Overall it feels like a city type KOA, not a state park. Bring lots of water hose, and earplugs if light sleeper. We camped at Fort Boonesborough State Park in a Motorhome.

Elkhart County Fairgrounds, Goshen, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is an extensive fairgrounds area. Our campsite was simply an open grass field with water and power poles. Staff were friendly. Our water faucet stem had such a leak it would have flooded our site if left on overnight so we turned it off. The 50 amp plug was defective but the 30amp worked. Our site was almost level. Fairgrounds interesting to walk around. Close to Lippert and most RV companies so this park is convenient as a utility type RV stop. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Bon Echo Family campground, Cloyne, Ontario

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Registration and check in were easy. The park was half empty during the week but almost filled up on the week end. Our site was level and easy to access, pretty and quiet. We did not have hook ups but some sites do- these are sold out. Mixture of pit toilets and flush. Beautiful and geologically interesting hikes. They have a nice gift shop in the park. Worth the drive. We camped at Bon Echo Family campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The canoe rentals are a lot of fun. Mazinaw rock is awesome to see by land and even better by canoe The hilltop trail is accessible only by canoe or ferry. Steep climb plus an improved stretch with 150 or so steps lead to a jaw dropping view of the lake.

Montreal South KOA, St. Philippe de Laprairie, Quebec

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Registration was easy. Arrival staff friendly and helpful with planning or Montreal city visit. The sites are open and you are close to your neighbors, but the park is mostly quiet. The roads in the park are bumpy but not a problem. WiFi free but logs you out every 30 minutes without warning, a pain. Bathrooms are spotless. We camped at Montreal South KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The closest Metro station is 15 minutes north and there is a Walmart and grocery store 7 minutes away. Traffic to the Metro is not bad, but awful if though Terry to get into the city. We used the Metro which was fast, cheap and has lots of convenient stops. The botanical gardens in September was wonderful. Also highly recommend the cathedral Aura show.

Lake Carmi State Park, Enosburg Falls, Vermont

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We called the morning of our arrival to verify they had spots open. The rangers were helpful and knew the park well. Good instructions when we arrived. They have 100 sites but only 20 or so would fit our 33 ft motorhome. Roads tight but adequate for our rig. Roomy sites. Very quiet. Great view of the lake but not swimmable due to algae bloom. Pretty park but not a lot of hiking trails. Easy access to water and dump station. No hook up at sites. We camped at Lake Carmi State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a Vermont state park. It does not have hookups but is quiet, spacious and private. Very beautiful. Tight drive in with our 33 foot class A. Great service from the park ranger when we had to change sites to fit in. Lots of nature. Dump station and water station easy to access. Would return. Mohican State Park, Loudonville, Ohio

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Our assigned spot was directly next to a construction site but they moved us to a pretty spot on the water. The site was fairly level and the river is scenic. 50 amp service but no water at our site; they have other sites with full hook ups. Staff very friendly. It probably gets busy in the summer but in April only 20% full. It rained heavily our last day so the non-gravel areas of the camp site were boggy but the RV site itself was gravel and the roads are paved and so not a problem. Excellent hiking trails. We camped at Mohican State Park in a Motorhome.

Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area, Ellicott City, Maryland

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The registration area is away from the camping area and if arriving from the East is hard to access due to a 11 foot underpass restriction. RV sites use the inner loop which has 30 amp power but no water. Sites are about 30 feet apart. Residential housing is visible behind the campsites but we did not have noise problems. Only one place to take on fresh water or dump waste but we did not have to wait. Overall functional but not scenic. We camped at Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area in a Motorhome.

Staunton River State Park, Scottsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Easy check in. We were here in mid April and there were only 2 other campers here. Sites are close together but made no difference. Sites are level and gravel. Lots of tent sites. Rigs > 37 feet would have trouble with the interior roads. Great hiking trails. Small gift shop. Park rangers very friendly and helpful. We camped at Staunton River State Park in a Motorhome.

The park belongs to the International Dark Sky Association. We rented a telescope and enjoyed the night view free of interfering City lights. They have a nice pool but too early to use in April unless you're a polar bear. The River trail is pretty.

Easy reservations and check in. Our site was level and clean, close to other campers but not claustrophobic. Pretty hiking trails of various lengths and difficulty. Lots of kids but quiet at night. Rustic Sands RV Resort Campground, Mexico Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived late but management left a note with our site clearly marked. Sites are crowded and not screened by vegetation at all. The camper next to us was 7 feet away. No problems with utilities and WiFi signal was adequate for low quality video clips. No picnic table or firepit at our site but some had those. Tiki bar part of the campground with pizza and outdoor live music 100 feet from our site but they shut down at 9:45 and were not uncomfortably loud. Site very level and easy to access. Roads were fine. 1/2 mile from beach. We camped at Rustic Sands RV Resort Campground in a Motorhome.

Stone Mountain Heights Mobile Home Park, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We were here for a month while receiving medical care at Emory. The managers are pleasant, kind and easy to deal with but work on a limited schedule. The park is a mixture of full time mobile homes and RVs passing through. No bathrooms, store or playground. Pool closed in Sept. The roads were recently repaved. Our site was level. It was quiet even up front. Water pressure is high but we always use a regulator so no problem. WiFi good at our site. Lots of restaurants and shopping in walking distance. Not scenic but clean, safe, tidy and pleasant for walking. Thankfully they enforce poop scooping for pets. Would stay again if in the area. We camped at Stone Mountain Heights Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Deep Bend Landing, Waynesville, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

A more rural and rustic type of camping experience but terrific if that meets your needs. The owner/manager is exceptionally friendly and helpful, the best we've seen. Our site was 30 yards from a pretty river, shaded with pines and oaks. Easy access for swimming, boating and fishing. Very quiet, had deer near our site one morning. There are no running water bathrooms (has a Port-a-Potty) and the water is sulphery though safe. The owner has to "pilot" you in with his truck since the access road is one lane. We camped at Deep Bend Landing in a Motorhome.

Pinch Pond Family Campground & RV Park, Manheim, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We did not have reservations but called same day and got a site. They have two campgrounds about a mile apart and our GPS initially brought us to the wrong one. Very easy pull through sites. Unlike other reviewers we had no problems with the gates, the sewer, or noise from the shooting range. However the neighbors were a bit noisy until midnight. They have cable hookup if you want that. Convenient to the Renaissance Fair - 5 minute drive. The kind maintaince guy let me use his compressor for a low tire and even helped me set it up. Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived without a reservation but they had a site available. The park ranger was helpful. The campsites are roomy but not private. We had to move after day 1 to a different non-reserved site. Some sites are laid out with difficult back-in access but no problems if nose first. Quiet. Very close to the town but still feels remote. Electric only.
