Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort, Port Angeles, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2007 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Not as much as a campground as it is a parking lot (and not really laid out well for campers). Sites are close together too. Unfortunately, if you want water and electric, its the only campground in Sol Duc. There is no bathroom either. The National Park campground just up the road is very nice, but too small for campers much over 27 ft and there is no electric or water hookups. On a positive note, the falls at Sol Duc and the trails are great. The hot springs were a nice afternoon distraction as well. There is also good fishing in the Sol Duc river and some nearby lakes. We camped at Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Worden State Park (Beach campground), Port Townsend, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2007 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

One of the nicest state parks we've visited and would definitely go again. Plenty to see and do and good for kids too (especially if they like to explore). Full hookup sites with plenty of space between them. Bath facilities were older, but looked like they were in good condition. We camped at Fort Worden State Park (Beach campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Fort De Soto Campground, Tierra Verde, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Our second stay at Ft. Desoto and it is an excellent park. Some sites are huge and most feel isolated due to dense brush between sites. Water pressure was good despite FL drought. Kids had great time at beach and in the park. Make sure you keep food inside at night. Many raccoons and they are not shy. Book early, because weekends fill up fast (people make reservations and then don't use them). I had to get in line at 4:30 AM to ensure I got a weekend "walk up" site. After June 1, you can't get into line before 6:00 AM for walk up. Overall, one of the best parks around and the only decent one in the St. Petersburg, FL area. We camped at Fort De Soto Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Perry KOA Campground, Perry, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

I guess it would be a "typical" KOA. Nice people and clean facilities, just the sites are tight and the price is high. A good overnight stop on US 19. We camped at Perry KOA Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Torreya State Park, Bristol, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

A nice FL state park, but not as nice as others I've stayed at. Some sites are narrow due to overgrowth. Also, some sites have electric and water on opposite sides (due to sharing water hookup with neighbor). Water pressure was low, possibly due to drought. Sites are mostly level, but could be difficult to back in with trees depending on type/length of rig. Not much for children to do and park is out of the way (approx. 15+ miles from I-10). A good place to go to relax (without kids). Other FL parks nearby are nicer. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Travel Trailer.

St Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA, St. Petersburg, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Overpriced and getting that run-down look. Employees were nice and facilities were mostly clean, but it would be a over priced at $30 a night and it is double that now. Sites are packed together and the full time mobile homes/RVs are getting to look unkempt. Not a good value even with a KOA discount. We camped at St Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2007 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

I can't imagine a better RV park then Fort Wilderness. Another great visit. Bikes or a golf cart are a must for traveling around park. We went boating and used the pool. We also went to the campfire/movie. Facilities are very clean. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Florida Caverns State Park, Marianna, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2007 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice state park and this was our second trip. Really enjoyed the bike trail (even our 6 year old could ride the trail). Wish we could have stayed another day to swim or canoe. Only wish access road wasn't so dusty. It would help if other visitors would slow down. Some were not considerate or just plain ignorant that they were creating big dust clouds. A good deal of wildlife to observe. Overall, another great FL state park. We camped at Florida Caverns State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lakepoint Resort State Park, Eufaula, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2007 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

A nice, but dated state park. Alabama should visit nearby FL state parks and learn from them. Sites were paved, level and in good shape. Many pull throughs. We stayed in a circle campsite that had a lot of space. Campground itself is kind of boring, but there are things to do in the park (fish, golf, hike, bike, etc). Some updating would go a long way to making this a 8 or 9. We camped at Lakepoint Resort State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Blue Springs State Park, Clio, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2007 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, small Alabama State Park. Most sites did not appear to be level. In general it was in OK shape and I think our children would have a good time going again, especially if springs were open for swimming. We camped at Blue Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Manatee Springs State Park, Chiefland, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2007 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We had the pull through spot next to the spring and playground and it made our second stay much better. Abundant wildlife and many things to see and do. If it only had sewer or at least paved access roads and sites. A great value and we really like the park. We camped at Manatee Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

St Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA, St. Petersburg, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2006 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

Clean and courteous, but overpriced. At $40 I would rate higher. Sites are close together, so you better like your neighbors. Unfortunately, not many other parks to choose from in this area. Would only stay again because of its proximity to family. We camped at St Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park close to I-10. Good for an overnight stay, wouldn't stay more than that. Staff friendly. Would rate higher if it had paved sites/roads. We camped at Tallahassee East Campground in a Travel Trailer.

An excellent park that we would definitely stay at again. Easy to pull into, well cared for sites, and friendly staff. Approx. 30 minutes from Magic Kingdom. Nightime sky is terrific. We camped at Lake Louisa State Park in a Travel Trailer.
