About ArizonaHappyCamper

This is our first camper and we are loving it. We love to travel and this is the best way to enjoy nature, be outside, and bring our dogs. Wish I would've thought of it years ago!

Assateague State Park, Berlin, Maryland

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Most sites have no hookups, and some don't allow generators. We were on a no hookup, generator allowed, pet friendly site. They have a dump station and drinking water. It was beautiful! One of the cleanest Campgrounds I've ever seen. The Camp Hosts, Pony Patrol, and all other employees were exceptionally friendly. We saw the wild horses several times a day. The beach is gorgeous and just a short walk from any campsite. We have already booked our next stay in September. We camped at Assateague State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beach, bike riding within the park. We went to the National Park (10 minute drive) to rent kayaks very inexpensively. There's a ton of places to buy firewood and camp supplies

Thousand Trails / Chestnut Lake, Port Republic, New Jersey

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second season here. Very friendly, clean and relatively quiet. This is a Thousand Trails CG so the nightly rate only applies to those without a membership. The pool is terrific, with lots of Chairs and shade. The clubhouse is nice, has a pool table and poker table, tv and place to play games or do crafts. They have boats you can take on the lake for free. Some spots are tight and some are in the blazing sun but all in all a nice place. We camped at Thousand Trails / Chestnut Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Rancho Sonora Inn & RV Park, Florence, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park. It is well maintained and the sites are level, clean and have some natural vegetation and trees between most sites. They have activities almost every day, yoga, cornhole and card games in the evenings. The people and staff are very friendly. The pool area is gorgeous with grass, nice landscaping, a grill and kiva fireplace

The only negatives are the wifi, the un-heated pool, and the spa is only heated from 4:30-8:30 every day. It's pretty far from town, which is also a positive since it's quiet and makes for great star viewing at night. We camped at Rancho Sonora Inn & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

USA RV Park, Gallup, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice! We only stayed one night on our way home, but it was nice. Great amenities and super friendly. We heard about this place while staying in Colorado and decided to stop there. Couldn't go in the pool because of thunderstorms, but really enjoyed a nice play area for the dogs and complimentary coffee in the morning. They also have a bbq pit where they cook food every night except Sunday. The food is great! We camped at USA RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

South Rim (NPS Campground), Black Canyon Gunnison Nat'l Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This was a nice campground. The only problem was I called to see if they had water available to fill our fresh water tank and they said yes. When we got there, they only had a drinking fountain so we had to go 4 days using bottled water. There were deer everywhere and it was very quiet and peaceful. Be very bear aware in this park. They had a "problem bear" alert while we were there, and although our neighbors told us the bear showed up twice the night before we got there, we never saw him. We camped at South Rim (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Bayfield Riverside RV Park, Bayfield, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful campground. Flowers everywhere and very friendly owners and staff. I heard them helping someone who had their truck pulling horses break down and they put the horses in their corral and took them to the Ford dealer to pick up the truck when it was fixed. With the pond and streams running through, it's very peaceful and there are plenty of places to walk your dogs. We stayed here 9 nights. The only drawbacks were the street noise (if you can't get a spot on the water I wouldn't go) and if you want to put up a dog pen you need to ask for a gravel site or you won't have room. They don't want pens on the grass. And you have to ask for a fire ring if you want a campfire. We camped at Bayfield Riverside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Goulding's Lodge & Campground, Oljato-Monument Valley, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was a pull through, with a great view. The campground had a nice store, and amenities. There were at least 3 stray dogs running around which was very scary for us when walking our dogs. The loose dogs seemed friendly enough, but still a dangerous situation for dogs and their owners. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area, Show Low, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We loved this place! We stayed in Cinnamon Teal Site 18 (Cinnamon Teal 19 is probably the best in the park if you can get it) We were greeted by a very friendly Ranger, our site was clean and level and had a great view of the lake. There was a nice woods line between our site and the one on one side. The only thing we didn't care for was the "sharing" of the sites. A lot of sites, ours included, had "piggybacked" which places their vehicle directly next to your trailer and then you kind of share the rest of the site space. It was still very nice though. The campground had nice clean private showers, a nice walking path and plenty of space to walk the dogs. I would definitely recommend it to others and would stay there again! We camped at Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Rancho Sedona RV Park, Sedona, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park, especially the sites near the creek. The biggest problem was the "rules" which we knew about ahead of time, but made an unexpected atmosphere at the campground of unnatural quiet, even during the day. Even in the dog run, there was a "no barking" sign. I think everyone was afraid to make a sound. Except the trash trucks that came in at 5:30 in the morning. I'm talking the BIG ones, with the loud motors and air brakes that come to dump the dumpsters. Management spent a lot of time driving around in golf carts and I almost felt like I was being watched like an inmate. They spent a lot of time cutting the grass, it was hard to tell what was already cut and what wasn't cut yet, but the grounds were clean, shady and pretty. They also don't allow any campfires. I'm by no means a rowdy camper, and have no problem with normal rules, but I don't think I would stay here again. We camped at Rancho Sedona RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The beauty of Sedona and all the shopping you want is right outside the campground. We really enjoyed the fish and chips at the Oak Creek Brewery.
