Sou'Wester Lodge, Seaview, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Potentially an 8 or 9, very friendly, helpful staff. 1892 Lodge w/four suites in converted upstairs Ballroom area unique as are all the various trailers for rent on daily/weekly basis, all items for sale in Lodge fairly priced on honor system. Rules posted for pets on leash and pickup poorly enforced and not adequate for 'responsible' pet owners. Shrubs and trees are in dire need of pruning and thinning to assist w/new growth and protection of RV campsite areas. Mostly paved access roadways and mostly grassy areas for campsites w/nice central fireplace area for nighttime fire and central kitchen for both RVers use and guests staying in unique vintage trailers. A must-see if passing through the area. Electrical service in RV area in dire need of updating as power surges and fluctuates with outages experienced. We had to pick up likely 3 dozen cigarette butts plus discarded peanut hulls in/around our campsite immediately upon check-in; some TLC would yield huge attractiveness; within walking distance of beaches and fine dining next door; excellent meals @ The Depot. We camped at Sou'Wester Lodge in a Motorhome.

L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park, Buxton, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Fortunately able to stay in WEST loop, campsites and tent sites much larger seemingly than more crowded, smaller sites in East loop. Camp hosts helpful and rangers provided very good information, cleaning and individual campsite cleaning began virtually as each former night's tenant departed which was highly visible. Others have already cited adequacy of biking and hiking trails. Cabins area very impressive as well as horse stalls and full hookups, 18 as I recall, in equestrian area. Very impressed with park and those who maintained this park w/highly positive attitudes and an expressed appreciation for visiting. We camped at L.L. Stub Stewart Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Vernonia 10 miles away w/fascinating Library, Chamber of Commerce and adequate choice of restaurants/supermarkets. Be SURE to try BLUE CAFE in downtown, best Mediterranean food in Northwest! Locally owned and operated, we had conversations with other diners from Seattle and Portland areas who visit this restaurant due to its menu and quality of food.

Fort Stevens State Park, Hammond, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Paved streets and campsites. After weekend rain and high winds, camp hosts and rangers worked very long hours recovering w/cleanup efforts. Noticeably vacant spaces due to rainy weather conditions much to our surprise. Burn ban in effect and understandable though campfire would have been nice. Loop I sites found comfortable, some open allowing use of our DISH Tailgater. Sirius radio reception fine, daytime, for short periods. We were actually not outside enjoying this spacious state park. With excellent nearby shopping and no sales tax for purchases meant we spent more $s than in other states. We camped at Fort Stevens State Park in a Motorhome.

Cape Lookout State Park, Tillamook, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

All paved roadways in camping loops, paved campsite pads, mostly dirt areas surrounding parking spaces w/fire pits; camp hosts circulate wood sales from 5-8 PM to each site, beach accesses multiple depending on campsite loop, some open areas allow mobile satellite dish access, cell phone service limited. Compliments to both camp hosts and Ranger staff to make 5 day stay an enjoyable, memorable occasion. We camped at Cape Lookout State Park in a Motorhome.

Ashley Inn, Tillamook, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Courteous, helpful check-in, questioned $24.90 rate, was told increase occurred recently. All spaces available except 3, was told to pick a site, park and return for paperwork completion. All paved asphalt roadways, concrete pads w/patio, adequate space for RV and tow on both pull thru and back-in spaces. Electrical and water readily acceptable, Wi-Fi from Inn worked well, still checking for dump station availability elsewhere but managed 4 days well w/o dump. Nearby Starbucks, Burger King and across from Kroger/Fred Meyer Supermarket where many RVs overnight on their parking lot, too. Would stay here again despite price increase charged minus dump accessibility due to location and proximity to Herron and Tilamook Cheese factories. Breakfast @ $5 not especially a great deal unless one simply doesn't want to eat in your RV, very pet friendly and open spaces for walking pets nearby. We camped at Ashley Inn in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Tillamook Cheese w/tours and cheese tastings, great shopping area, excellent ice cream and popular restaurant, Herron French Cheeses and Wine Tastings, Burger King, McDonalds, various fresh fish outlets raw/fresh and cooked, 11 miles to Cape Lookout, some 18 miles to Cape Meares but caution, HIGH caution on poorly maintained Tillamook County roads, their Commissioner of Roads should be terminated due to high traffic and popularity of area and so poorly maintained roads to national treasures

Desert Rose RV Park, Fernley, Nevada

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for only 1 night. Arrived late after dark and left early next morning, but the park didn't resemble the well-kept and maintained appearance from stay several years ago. Dusty, landscaping looked under-maintained and appeared to be in desperate need of both TLC and watering. We camped at Desert Rose RV Park in a Motorhome.
