Moonshine Creek Campground, Sylva, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very picturesque wooded setting. Not for bigger rigs (we are 30'). Friendly, clean, well maintained, good camp store. Near Hwy 74, but not super convenient. We camped at Moonshine Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Dumplin Valley RV, Kodak, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful, manicured grassy (barefoot worthy) meadow on an active farm. Grass sites are "tiered", may need some leveling. There is no shade so it might get pretty hot in the summer. Very uncrowded when we were there. Single set of bathrooms/showers were clean and functional. No tables or fire rings. We camped at Dumplin Valley RV in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient and pleasant for a stay over when traveling 40/81. Close to Interstate, fuel and food. Great staging jump off for Sevierville, Smokies and Gatlinburg. Lot's of outlet stores nearby.

Askew's Landing Campground, Edwards, Mississippi

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice quiet smaller place. Full service, nice little lake, nice proprietor. A significant number of full-timers. Shady spots. We camped at Askew's Landing Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Good staging area for Vicksburg activities. The camp, Bridgeport Plantation is an actual Civil War battle site.

Mississippi's best kept secret on one of it's worst kept roads.

Fort Clinch State Park, Fernandina Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed on the riverside. Secluded, wonderful camping spots. Sand base, and not too level at that. Close to beach and fort tour. Quite a ways off I-95.but close to A1A. Very poor cell service and no wi-fi. A hidden gem. We camped at Fort Clinch State Park in a Motorhome.

South of the Border, Dillon, South Carolina

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good stop on I-95, a good mid-point between the Northeast and Florida. The park was almost empty when we were there. There were some low-lying off-limits spots that still had water from the big storms last year. The famous SOTB attractions are right there and fun and funky even if not particularly awesome. There is even a high bay self service Truck/RV wash. The park is open and flat without much shade or privacy. Attendants were helpful with propane. We camped at South of the Border in a Motorhome.

Didn't try any of the restaurants or food services. They get mixed reviews on line.

Stoney Creek Resort, Greenville, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

You should probably pass by this one. They lost our reservation but were nice and attentive at the store. We were put in a back back back row between some shady permanent campers. The hose bib leaked and made a nice puddle. The bath/shower rooms were bad. Awakened in the morning by sewage plant smell. This was really disgusting, like being outside the gate at a treatment plant. Mmmmm...bacon and eggs and sewer gas. Overall, not an uplifting experience. The many comments about the approach road are basically true, but it wasn't all that bad or impassable. We camped at Stoney Creek Resort in a Motorhome.
