Trailway Campground, Montague, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small City owned park that is run by a wonderful couple. Very easy and welcoming check-in with direction to our site and help parking. Some people may consider the sights close, but we thought they were fine. They are gravel sights with a paved patio. We were at back of the campground so we didn't get much road noise. We came here to ride the paved bike trails, which there a miles and miles of, and they are awesome! The trail comes right up to the campground but you don't get strangers coming through. The towns of Montague and Whitehall are darling with plenty of unique places to eat if you enjoy eating out. White Lake and the Marina is right across the road. There is a grocery story right across from the campground so no traveling to get groceries. Cable TV, you have to get the box from the office but it was no hassle at all at check-in. Also good free WiFi. We would highly recommend. We camped at Trailway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Shipshewana Campground - South Park, Shipshewana, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great campground, in a great location. If you are familiar with Shipshewana you know about the HUGE Flea Market and all of the wonderful shops and Amish made items. The campground is located just south of where the Flea Market is held. It is about 2 blocks from the Shipshewana Event Center and two sides of the campground butt up to horse pastures.(no odors) Out the back window of our travel trailer we watched two draft horses graze. Since I am a horse person this made me a very happy camper. The campground is ground stone roadways and pads. Most sites are full hook-ups but we did see that they do have some electric only. There is thick and mowed grass next to the pads, a few mature trees are disbursed through the park. Nice showers and bathrooms and a very nice laundry room. Check in was quick and easy with a very friendly staff. We paid $42.00 a night which is a little higher than what we like to pay however for the area it is very reasonable. We highly recommend this campground. We camped at Shipshewana Campground - South Park in a Travel Trailer.

Vacation Station RV Resort, Ludington, Michigan

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice campground. Not real big, has quite a few seasonal sites that I'm not sure if you rent or buy but very well kept and very nice people. We stayed in site 52. It's a back in with a woods in back and we were very happy with where we were. We were almost across the road for the very clean and well kept bathroom/showers. They have a nice pool with a patio that is shaded. The store was good and staff very friendly. It's very close to the town of Ludington and Walmart but it sits back so you don't see any of this. It's a very private campground. We would highly recommend. We paid $47.74 a night. A little pricey but we felt it was worth it. There is also a lake. We camped at Vacation Station RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Ludington is a great town. Ludington SP is beautiful, however we would not camp there. It was packed and the sites were very very close. But it has great trails for hiking. Vacation Station is not that far away. Also the USS Badger is great to watch go out and come in.

Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping, Mackinaw City, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This was our 2nd stay here this year. Our first experience in June was very nice but we were not happy with our site #610. But I checked out all the sites and when I made reservations for our stay in Sept. I requested site 102. Phenomenal!! Our view was spectacular! We were right across the camp road for Lake Huron, with Mackinaw Island also directly across from us and the bridge just to the west. It was so beautiful. We had great weather, the campground was quite because schools were already in session. Most of the campers were retired like us. We really love this campground. It is extremely big, but I love that because there are so many places to ride my bike and walk. This was my favorite camping trip of the year and we will be back! We highly recommend. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Travel Trailer.

Dayton KOA, Brookville, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

We needed a campground in this area because we wanted to visit the National Museum of the US Air Force. This KOA had the best reviews and they did not lie! This campground is beautiful, clean, well maintained with the cleanest, nicest shower house we have ever seen. All tile, with a TV and spotless. It's a KOA so of course you pay for the amenities so it's pricey. It's just the two of us so we do not use the amenities for the kids but we still felt it was worth it. There is a farm in the back with goats, a llama, and pigs. No farm smells but wonderful hearing them. We were parked right by it and really enjoyed our site (112). The staff is very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend staying here. It's one of the best. We camped at Dayton KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping, Mackinaw City, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in June 2015 and found it to be a nice park. However, we stayed in site 610, which is bridge view but was so tight we could not put out our awning all the way and had to fold our outdoor run in half and it still went into the scrub brush. We require 30 amp and there where numerous other sites available for bridge view that were vacant the whole time we were there that had twice as much room. I don't understand why felt they had to cram everyone together in those tiny sites. The mosquitos were thick, but luckily they didn't bite. There were bug swarms as others mentioned but this is to be expected this time of year in that area. People should know that. We will go back but request a better site. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Travel Trailer.

Covert / South Haven KOA, Covert, Michigan

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first camping experience and close to home. We felt it was very expensive considering what they have to offer. Since we know the area and live 6 miles away it was just a practice run for us. They are nice people, not many people in the park in April and we only spent 2 nights. Maybe in the summer there would be things for people to do but not much when we were there. Not a lot of shade but nice sites. Park was clean and well kept. We camped at Covert / South Haven KOA in a Travel Trailer.
