Pomo RV Park & Campground, Fort Bragg, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean, well maintained park! The sites were large and private with trees and bushes surrounding them. Plenty of space to park your vehicle. We used their laundry room as we were here a week. They also have a small store in the office. We camped at Pomo RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The park is about a mile south of Fort Bragg which has many things to do. Beaches, movies, theater, music venues, restaurants and, of course, beaches and mountains. There is a large dog park in the city with an area for smaller dogs. Some dog friendly beaches are nearby. The village of Mendocino is 9 miles south of Fort Bragg.

Yanks RV Resort, Greenfield, California

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This is the nicest park that we've stayed at during our 2-years of RVing! Yes, the wind comes up in the afternoon, but once the air museum is built on the north side that should help cut it down a bit. The slots are all concrete slabs - including your hook up area - with an adjoining patio area with picnic tables. There is a nice clean pool, with an outdoor fireplace and couches next to it. A laundry room and exercise room is available. The dog park has plenty of grass and trees - though if you have a small dog it may be able to squeeze through the fence, so keep an eye on it. There is also a dog washing area. Two horseshoe pits a located next to the dog park, which is across a small parking lot from the conference center. (SEE PICTURES) Yanks Air Museum - with 200 restored aircrafts - is scheduled for opening in late 2017. We camped at Yanks RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

The park is about 1 hour from the east entrance to Pinnacles National Park and Mission San Antonio - east of King City - next to Fort Hunter Liggett - a US Army training facility, which also has tours during weekdays. King City has San Lorenzo Park, a county park with a Agricultural and Rural Museum featuring vintage farm equipment, historic school house, etc. next to the Salinas River. Monterey is 1 hour north of the park with Cannery Row and the world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium!

Morro Strand RV Park, Morro Bay, California

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We try to get out in our trailer at least once a month. We've done this for two years now and I have to say this park - though clean is my least favorite. The spaces in the south park are tight, perpendicular to the road and narrow. It is downwind from the city's treatment plant - making it unbearable to sit outside. On the plus side - it is an easy walk to the beach and about a 15-minute walk to downtown Morro Bay. We camped at Morro Strand RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cachuma Lake Recreation Area, Santa Barbara, California

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Lake Cachuma on December 27-30, 2016. We were pleased to see that the park was clean and each site was level with a concrete pad and patio. The paved roads are nice and wide! There is a $2 fee per pet per day. The lake is really low due to the drought CA has been experiencing over the last few years.

The park has a well-stocked general store with a gas station, a good-size dog park divided into two sections, a swimming pool (closed during the winter season) and one of the best nature centers. The store and nature center were within 100 yards of our site!

As the weekend came closer, the park filled up quickly! I'm posting pictures, so take a look! We camped at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort, Plymouth, California

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed three nights. This is one of the nicest, cleanest parks that we've stayed at in our 2-years of RVing. The roads and sites are paved, though the roads are a bit narrow. The only drawback is the sites are perpendicular to the roads. I would prefer an angle to make it easier for backing in.

There is a great little coffee shop/ice-cream parlor by the office with gifts, and RV accessories. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Yosemite Lakes RV Resort - Thousand Trails, Groveland, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Located about 14 miles outside of Yosemite off of Highway 120 - Yosemite Lakes is a Thousand Trails park which is affiliated with our RPI membership. The park is clean with full hook ups for RVers and tent campers. There are also cabins and yurts available for rentals. Sites are available by the river, under trees or in the sun - if you prefer.

The only real complaint was the number of flies that always want to hover around your head.

The Country Store is about 1/4 mile away on Hw 120, but their gas is very expensive - about 40 cents more per gallon than in Groveland. However, it has a good variety of items - wine, RV accessories, and souvenirs.

This is a family oriented park with a 9-hole mini golf course, badminton, volleyball, basketball, a swimming hole in the river. NO CELL PHONE SERVICE and in the lodge VEEEEEERY slow wifi! We camped at Yosemite Lakes RV Resort - Thousand Trails in a Travel Trailer.

Yosemite National Park, of course. However, be sure to visit some of the historic communities like Groveland - we had a great lunch at Dori's Tea House on their gated patio area with our dogs! Public parking is behind the ReMax Realtor next to the old town jail!

Cotillion Gardens RV Park, Felton, California

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of families with children - which wasn't a negative for us even though we don't have children. The swimming pool was clean. We only had electric and water hook ups - no sewer for us - though about half the campgrounds have full hook ups. There is a dump station, but no spray hose to clean your sewer line after dumping - I assume due to the drought. A well stocked store is within the campground. Tent camping is available throughout the park. We camped at Cotillion Gardens RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

DO NOT TAKE HIGHWAY 9 FROM SANTA CRUZ - IT'S TOO WINDY! Use the "Mount Herman" exit from Highway 17 to get to Felton.

The campground is next to Henry Cowell State Park with a giant redwood grove and visitor's center within a 15-minute walk. Santa Cruz and Capitola are a 15-minute drive away.

This was an easy drive from the Central Valley.

Canyon Creek Resort, Winters, California

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $2.00
Overall Rating:

This is a membership park and it is our "home base". We have been members for 1-year and have camped here 4 times. Each time we return they have added something new. At this visit they had new fencing, plants and decking for all of the cabins and office areas.

Most of the campers who visit have their dogs with them, so we would like to see a dog park set up near the office area and/or near the bathroom at the campground area by the dam. We would also like to see a small shop where camping accessories can be purchased since the nearest town is Winters, 10-miles away. We camped at Canyon Creek Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Pelican Point RV Park, Half Moon Bay, California

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $76.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park for 3-nights which cost us what we use to pay for one night at an upscale hotel in Moss Beach. The view here is great! Sites are a little close together, but each one has a concrete slab for your RV and gravel for your vehicle.
The staff was friendly and helped guide us into our spot. We're definitely coming back! We camped at Pelican Point RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The beach is an easy 5-minute walk away, golfing, shopping downtown, restaurants, surfing - though at times great white sharks are in the area.

Bodega Bay RV Park, Bodega Bay, California

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This park is clean and the staff is friendly. They have a big movie selection in their store, bocci ball court, horseshoes and ladder toss games, a small pet run and modern clean restrooms. Geared to an older RVing crowd.
The park is an easy drive to nearby state beaches or you can take a walking trail to the state beach next to the park.
A great Mexican restaurant is at the entrance to the park. We camped at Bodega Bay RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

49er RV Ranch, Columbia, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We were visiting historic Columbia, CA which is only .5 miles from this park. The staff were excellent. Each guest gets guided into their spot by two staff members, which is very helpful because the park is on a hill and some of the stalls are tricky to pull into.

Friday nights includes free BBQ hot dogs, beans, chips and a drink and s'mores around the campfire.

Our fee was based on our RPI membership. They also had a two nights for the price of one special which we purchased.

A small fenced dog area is available in the front of the park.

Prospectors can buy supplies and practice panning on-site. We camped at 49er RV Ranch in a Travel Trailer.

Delta Shores Resort and Marina, Isleton, California

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 4-nights. It was a busy park during the weekend because it's on the Sacramento Delta. Other than fishing and boating there isn't much to do. If you like visiting small towns, there are a lot nearby. The park has a nice pool and a mini-golf course - nothing fancy though. Sites are pretty spacious, but the sewer connections are too high! Many full-timers live at the back portion of the park. We camped at Delta Shores Resort and Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Marina Dunes RV Park, Marina, California

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

We were on our way home from a wedding in Carmel and decided to stay in the area longer. A quick call to the park confirmed there was space available. The park is clean with many amenities. Their store even had a nice variety of sweatshirts available at a fair cost - better than the local big box stores!

Highway 1 goes right by the park, so it is a little loud outside, but the beach is right across the street. We camped at Marina Dunes RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Canyon Creek Resort, Winters, California

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $4.00
Overall Rating:

This was the "tour our site and buy the plan" weekend. This is a private park, but they do allow you to stay for the weekend at minimal cost if you take the tour. We bought the Coast to Coast Premiere package for around $4k. Our second camping experience in our trailer. Staff was very polite and helpful with anything that we needed. The campground is clean, has a nice pool and new playground equipment for kids. This is a wilderness area, so the "grass" is mostly weeds. Overall a very restful weekend. All the dogs that we saw were on leash. We camped at Canyon Creek Resort in a Travel Trailer.
