Southgate RV Park of Fayetteville, Fayetteville, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Site 78, not in middle grassy area, was long for our 40 foot motorhome and level. Wifi was very strong. Good expanded cable service. Owner promptly returned calls and gave site number and directions. Really informative website with park map and lot numbers. Good Sam discount off rate. We camped at Southgate RV Park of Fayetteville in a Motorhome.

Boonville Municipal Park Campground, Booneville, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

The city took the police department parking lot and added electricity, water, swear & cable to back of each parking space and called it a RV Campground. Sites very close together: open awnings and touch neighbor. Utilities at back of site so need long hoses, especially sewer. Price is right, you are well protected at police department. Great cable service. No reservations and fills up at hunting season. No other advisable campground in area. We stay here visiting family every year. Caution: Big Tree in middle of lots and small posts in front across narrow street...we crushed our motor home bumper backing in trying to skirt tree in back and not seeing post in front which was below eyesight of driver. We camped at Boonville Municipal Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Little Rock North / Jct. I-40 KOA, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here many times in the last few years as we have family here. It is weathered and worn, but they are working to improve it now. Big Rigs do have a problem with the turns in the roads, and all but the premium sites are close. Premium sites have a small patio, furniture, and grill, but are not satellite friendly and they have just recently changed cable providers, so you just receive basic cable and not very many stations. Wi-fi is slow and limited. They do have a nice pool and a great ice cream parlor. We camped at Little Rock North / Jct. I-40 KOA in a Motorhome.

Hinton RV Park, Sikeston, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stop right off I-55. All utility services (electric, water, sewage) were new and excellent. Very level packed gravel lots, comfortable space between neighbors with grass and young trees. Good wi-fi. Satellite friendly, we didn't use available cable TV. Long pull-thrus, we have 40 foot motorhome and still didn't need to disconnect toad. Wonderful, friendly lady who led us to site. Good Sam discount given. Make no mistake, no resort facilities, just a clean, convenient place to overnight. We camped at Hinton RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lynnville Park Campground, Lynnville, Indiana

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is a jewel. As other reviews explained, it's a local town park, on a nice lake, great interior roads, well manicured, and an especially helpful host at the gate. (After our stay, we even got an email thank you!) We stayed overnight on a Thursday so very few campers, actually did not see any trashy, rundown full time campers. Our site was in electric & water, long, gravel pull-thru, with spacious grass plots between sites, easy to level. However, we had difficulty getting into and out of site: trees too low coming in (had to cross through empty camp sites to get into ours) and hilly, exit road was too full of ruts for our 40 foot motorhome to manage, so we once again, backed around through empty campsites to exit. Camp host apologized and said those sites were for smaller RVs, and we should have been in Big Rig section where it is FHUs with 50 amps for $20, so if you are a Big Rig, be sure to go to that section. Have weekly rates. Satellite friendly, Verizon hot spot strong. We will definitely come back. We camped at Lynnville Park Campground in a Motorhome.

LaSalle / Peru KOA, Utica, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Owners/staff very accommodating. Large, spread out park, nice little creek runs through for fishing or ambiance. Large dog run, kid friendly. Nice pool. Lots of tents and cabins. Utilities were well positioned. No wi-fi at sites, only available in office. Not satellite friendly, just about entire park under trees. Cable available but with small selection of stations. About 2 miles from interstate in middle of cornfields. We were there on a Friday overnight, and park was completely filled with locals camping for weekend. We camped at LaSalle / Peru KOA in a Motorhome.

Little Bear Campground , West Liberty, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Pleasant campground right off I-80, but highway noise not an issue. Great staff and checkin. Some sites grassy, others gravel, we were in 13, a straight, level gravel pull thru, in a spacious grassy park like area. New dryers in laundry with new washers being delivered so good laundry facilities soon. Wi-fi at site was very strong. Satellite friendly. Beautiful large pool. Not a snazzy campground but very comfortable. The park is very convenient to diesel services. We camped at Little Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Des Moines West KOA, Adel, Iowa

Overall Rating:

As KOA VIPs, we have stayed in many KOAs, and this was one of the best! Staff outstanding, exceptionally kid and dog friendly, very spacious, well kept hard-packed gravel sites. 10% off $42 rate if KOA member. Can get a site with a hugh concrete patio with swing, chairs and table, and grill for additional $25. Fishing pond is serene. Only negative was wi-fi only worked 2 out of the 4 days we were there due to weather and electrical storms. Pizza made on location and delivered was delicious and inexpensive. Have cable TV, and sites are satellite friendly. We camped at Des Moines West KOA in a Motorhome.

Sioux Falls KOA, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Great check in procedures, nice staff, led to site, gravel site. Sites not too close together, but not level. 2 sections: one shaded under trees, other out in open, no trees, satellite friendly. Wi-fi strong. Didn't try cable. Laundry okay. If member of KOA, get 10% discount off $50 night charge. We used air conditioners so did not hear highway noises & we were right in last row next to I-90. We camped at Sioux Falls KOA in a Motorhome.

Prairie Pasque Campground (formerly Watertown Mobile Estates), Watertown, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We were wary of stopping here after reading other reviews, so were expecting trashy, unkempt hole in the road. We were surprised. It is a good overnight stop, which is what we needed, easy to get to and into, friendly manager rushed out when we drove in and walked us into site. There is a prominent sign and drop box for payment at the entrance. It is hard packed gravel, with a side section of mowed and edged grass for dogs. Lots of South Dakota wind, but no dust. Rained while we were there, and no mud holes. It has 15 sites, 10 backins, 2 have 50 amps and 5 pull thrus, 1 has 50 amps. The RV sites were in the front of a mobile home park, which was well maintained, with no trash but manicured yards, even tho the mobile homes themselves were older. Make no mistake, this is an old campground, not family friendly, no amenities, but better than Walmart, if you want full hookups. We camped at Prairie Pasque Campground (formerly Watertown Mobile Estates) in a Motorhome.

Red Trail Campground, Medora, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Staying here is like staying at a Badlands ranch, you are in the middle of them and campground is rustic. It is not a resort, but sites are good, level, and utilities are well placed. Sites are back in, so you do have to unhook your car to get into site. Owner/operators are accommodating. Owner escorts you to your site and directs you into site, do not think you can just back in using your mirrors, things are close and you cannot judge your distance. He is excellent at getting you into site perfectly. We were in site 47, along outer perimeter fence and had plenty of room, open for satellite, so did not pay extra for cable. Sites under trees were back to back and seemed tighter. Wi-fi was adequate, our Verizon was good. Campground is in pretty good shape considering harsh and long winters and numbers of campers in. Our rate of $29 is based on weekly rate of $195. Weekend was completely full, reservations are recommended. Be sure to specify what you need, ie 50 amps, FHUs, Big Rig, satellite, etc, to be properly accommodated. Located on edge of town, which is quaint with lots to see and do. Town ordnance against fires at campground, so no fire rings. We camped at Red Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure you visit Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and drive its 36 mile loop for a good feel of Badlands and sightings of wildlife. Don't miss the Pitchfork Fondue (it's an experience) and the Medora Musical. Another not-to-be-missed, is Theodore Roosevelt at the Town Hall. The fellow plays TR around the country and even at the White House.

Bismarck KOA, Bismarck, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Owner/operators extremely accommodating and helpful. Sites are packed gravel, level and you are assigned site for your size rig. We have Big Rig so had long pull thru in center area, site separated from next sites with spacious grassy areas and trees and bushes, yet assigned site specifically to get satellite service.

As mentioned, owners work with you to give you site you need. Wi-fi strong and excellent. Only negative was laundry too small for size of campground. Wonderful dog park, great playground for youngsters, and beautiful pool. Our site had a big mud hole right where we parked our car created by previous camper, owner immediately filled it in and packed it with gravel. So attuned to maintenance and upkeep, grounds were well manicured. Has received KOA 2015 President's Award which is well deserved. Will bring you a fire ring if you want a fire. Just ask for anything and they will try to make it happen. Discount off $44 if you are a KOA member. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bismarck is state Capitol and there are tours of the Capitol building. Don't miss the Heritage Center next door to the Capitol. Also, take a short drive to Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park for tours of Custer's house and the Mandan Indian village on the Missouri River. If adventurous, take a 40 mile drive north to the interesting Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and further north to the Knife River National Park.

Governors' RV Park and Campground, Casselton, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This is not a resort. It is a RV campground, plain and simple. We were there mid July and things were clean, the maintenance guy mowed the grass, yes, there is a nice stand of grass between the gravel sites. Sites are well defined, level, most are pull-thrus, and all are FHUs. The utilities are laid out in one of the best arrangements we have seen, easy to connect. You get a 10% discount with AAA. It is connected to the Days Inn, have to register with front desk inside motel. This is our second stay here and both times clerks were nice and friendly. Laundry was old, but clean when we were there. Every night the campground Is full, so reservations are advised. Easy to get to, right off I-94. 20 miles west of Fargo. Only campground in Fargo area unless you wish to chance fairground campground which is iffy due to fair events. Not a campground to "camp" in, but good to park in either overnight or while visiting Fargo events. No cable, but satellite friendly. Excellent strong wi-fi. Verizon strong. We camped at Governors' RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Alexandria Shooting Park and RV Campground, Alexandria, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Traveler John's review is spot on, except now rate is $20. We were there over 4th of July weekend and only 5 other sites were occupied. Sites are actually in a grassy field, mostly pull thrus, E&W only, but sites are defined by chalk lines and are more level than they look. Limited number of 50 amp sites. Plenty of sites unless there is a shooting match in which times they are filled. Office may not be open, so get an envelope, mark your site number and put in cash/check, drop in honor slot. Town of Alexandria has many amenities. 300 lakes in area. We camped at Alexandria Shooting Park and RV Campground in a Motorhome.
