Pymatuning State Park, Andover, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent park - beautiful views of Pymatuning Lake, a private boat launch for the fishermen, nice playground for the kids. The campground beach was small, but it was adequate. We stayed in site 155, a nice site. The only downside was that site was full sun, but ReserveAmerica says it's "partially shaded". When I looked at the Google Earth picture for that site, there were trees there, but they've done some logging. Some sites wouldn't be that great for campers, as they don't have a great amount of room off the right side, and others have slopes, but they're pretty accurately listed. Nice, mostly flat roads, great for bike riding. My 5 year old son actually learned to ride a two wheeled bike here. It was a great camping experience, and we booked sites again to go back in a few weeks. Very pet friendly. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring extra blocking for your jacks, just in case. Try to avoid sites 134-144, there's some type of machinery or pump in the adjacent property that makes a 24/7 humming sound.

Raccoon Creek State Park, Hookstown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

An aging park for sure - narrow roads throughout, but not a problem if you know what you're doing. The website lists the "maximum RV length" as very short, but I have a 26 foot TT and backed clear up to the wheels hit the curb in the site, and had no problem once I was unhooked. Very nice park, would stay here again in a second. The only real negative that I can say about the park is it's proximity to Pittsburgh Intl Airport, I love watching planes though, so it wasn't a problem for me! The other thing is that the "playground" for the kids is a sorry excuse for a playground. In all though, a nice park. We camped at Raccoon Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Mosquito Lake State Park, Cortland, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here over father's day weekend. We had initially reserved site 137, but it was a mud mess, so I asked the people out front if we could see different sites, we decided on site 12. The DW said that the latrines were disgusting, but I said we have a camper, use that restroom. Sites in the woods are close quarters. All in all though, I'd come back. We camped at Mosquito Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.
