Cornwall / Charlottetown KOA, Cornwall, Prince Edward Island

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent KOA; we had a waterfront lot; lots of room, easy to navigate although the entrance by the office is a little tight. Sites are grass but they keep them nicely mowed. 15 minutes to Charlottetown. Great staff. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cornwall / Charlottetown KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Hartt Island RV Resort, Fredericton, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

Definitely one of the nicer parks in Canada, never mind in North America! roads very wide, sites are very large; we took a spot on the waterfront and were not disappointed! Staff are very friendly, hookups are well placed. If the roads were paved, i'd give this park a 10! Would definitely come back here (and we hope to in 2 weeks) We camped at Hartt Island RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $96.00
Overall Rating:

Not sure how the ratings got this high. First the location is outstanding, close to the whole area; lobster pounds at its finest. But the owners know its location location location! This park is NOT worth 95 dollars! Check in was very slow, they wouldn't let me in without a "guide" which took 10 minutes waiting before he got me to my site. We were in the section (lot 127) by the bathrooms; the water pressure is non existent! I had my water pressure gauge at 17-20 pounds when running!! I spoke with a man on a cart and he said this has been an inherent problem and that if I wanted to try and resolve i should go talk to he owner. I went to the office; she seemed genuinely concerned and would take care of it right away; the gentleman was standing close by and saw his reaction; he knew nothing was going to be done!! Wi-Fi was also non existent!! Not sure why so many parks say their wifi is good when its not. Would not stay here again. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Shore Hills Campground and RV Park, Boothbay, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground, we were in the open section. our pull through was the longest I've ever seen! Lots of room, and all connections well laid out. Each site has a raised composite wood deck which is very nice. The gravel roads can get a little dusty. Location is the thing here, just 8 minutes to Booth Bay; if you love lobster this is one place to go. Only reason I didn't give a 9 was they don't take Visa so make sure you have cash. And I like to get confirmation emails on bookings but they don't do that; just the old fashioned way. The staff are very friendly as well. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wildwood State Park, Wading River, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

One of the nicer state parks, paved roads and sites, good services, lots of space between sites. Didn't give higher rating as they don't prune trees as they should; many lower branches which might scratch taller coaches. Very nice beach area. Great location to explore the end of Long Island. BUT if you're coming across the George Washington bridge, be aware of very narrow lanes and lots of big trucks. Could barely fit my truck with our 41' 5th wheel on site. We camped at Wildwood State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Butterfly Camping Resort, Jackson, New Jersey

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

This park has really narrow gravel roads; we were told to NOT go one way as i'd hit a tree!! With the number of trees in this park (NOT a resort as the sign advertises) why not just cut it down?? We ended up in the one "pull through" site based on the length of our 41' fifth wheel. Good thing as most of the sites are way too short. Anybody hooking up their trailer as they were leaving? were sticking out into the road so you couldn't pass until he was gone. Dumb! Our "30 AMP" power could not even handle our smaller AC unit, first time in about 50 parks I've been to. I asked a worker who was driving by in a cart, he explained that the owners were "upgrading" the sites to 50 Amp. NOT! there was no sign of any upgrading as I drove through the whole park. The sewer pipe was sticking out of the ground way too high; with my supports under the hose, I still had 4" of uphill climb for my sewer. This park is not worth $63.00; should be in the $30 range. Not impressed with this "resort". We camped at Butterfly Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Big Timber Lake Family Camping Resort, Cape May Court House, New Jersey

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The Passport discount for 2 of the 3 nights allowed. I wouldn't think this park is good value at $55 a night. They don't have a clue on what sites can fit a 41' 5th wheel. We were given 183; I made it in but reeeal tight. Now considering there were over 100 sites open for all 3 nights they certainly could've given me a better fit to get in. I shouldn't have told them I have PA when I booked, I should've got a good site first then told them I'm PA. The hookups are at the back of sites; my cable wasn't long enough. Water was good. Roads a little tight for big rigs. 15 minutes from Cape May. We camped at Big Timber Lake Family Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Ramblin' Pines Campground, Woodbine, Maryland

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

I struggled where to give my rating. Based on a few things I have given a 6 due to 1. they put us on 1X (don't take this site!), it is right beside the entrance and office and the busiest place in the park; there were I'm sure other sites they could've given, we were right beside the park host (really not sure why, this is an rv park with an office), their site should be 1x! 2. they have an entrance gate with a wooden bar that swings up, it is only activated by a staff member who sits in a cart a 100 yards ahead by the office; so if he's gone potty? you don't get in!! stupid system. And $62 per night is way too much for this park. The roads inside are easy to drive if you get a site further in. Hookups were good but no cable on this site, a staff member had to split off from a site behind us. All sites are gravel and fairly wide. We camped at Ramblin' Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Solomons Island Navy Recreation Area (Military FamCamp), Solomons Island, Maryland

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We ended up at this park with friends of ours who had access as military. Roads are quite narrow, the site we had was hard to get our 41' 5th wheel in, and the craziest thing was the sewer connection was under the middle of the trailer!! as well I could not back in as the water and electrical was on the wrong side!! Grass was very long, looks like it hadn't been cut yet this year. Not impressed. We camped at Solomons Island Navy Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Fredericksburg VA / Washington DC S. KOA, Fredericksburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Good value at $45.00. Lots of room to het our 41' 5th wheel in and out. Staff friendly. They have a small store, a food truck open at certain times, a small lake which we were camped on. The road in the park is a little bumpy with potholes, just take your time. We would stay here again if in the area. The road leading off the highway is about 2 miles and very narrow. I would've given higher marks if the interior roads were better. We camped at Fredericksburg VA / Washington DC S. KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

North Landing Beach Riverfront Campground and Resort, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Ok so this park is worth its value as it stands alone; the sites are decently spread apart, they do separate the "full timers" (migrant workers) from the transients, its a big park and was very empty while we were here on May 12 weekend. We were in site 611, which we had chosen on the map ahead of time. What we didn't know was this site and the others on the point had NO cable; and as an avid golfer the Players Championship was on and couldn't watch! They did offer i could move, but once you're all hooked up you really don't want to move again. Water connections are a bit odd, you have to lift off a cast grille which was flush with the ground to get at a recessed connection, bit odd and could be a hazard if not careful. The main problem of this park is its location; the address says Virginia Beach BUT you are at least a half hour south (actually close to the NC border) AND the road to get here is about 25 miles of VERY NARROW/no shoulder to peak of roads!! I am a very experienced driver with my 1 ton truck and 41' 5th wheel; but this was the most stressful stretch I have ever driven in over 50,000 miles of pulling this combo! If you're squeamish about narrow roads? Don't come down this stretch to this park. Having said all this I wont penalize the park in my review of the road. One other thing, they advertise waffle breakfast at the clubhouse; we went there on the first morning and were told they weren't doing it that day because the cook wasn't feeling well. We camped at North Landing Beach Riverfront Campground and Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground, Waves, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

One of the better RV parks we've been to on our North American trip. Wide paved roads, paved pads, we chose the closest spot to the ocean on the front row, well worth a couple extra dollars. This park is secured and gated. Friendly staff, as long as you're friendly! I say this as another guy who came into the office right after me; he was grumpy right from the get go; he had the gall to ask for double discount (Good Sam and AAA). C'mon buddy!! Nobody gets double discounts. Don't be a grump!! When I see people complain on rvparkreviews I wonder really what they were expecting. I believe I give honest reviews as anyone looking on this website should get. Anyways, this is a good park for the money!! Only reason I didn't give a 10 is that its not "pristine". New Bern KOA, New Bern, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first go around on this very long trip with KOA, and I was reminded why the value is simply not there; we paid extra to be close to the water, we ended up in the second row (obstructed view). When we arrived there had been a torrential downpour that morning before we arrived, and wouldn't you know it? our site was the lowest in the park. I asked the staff if we could move to another site (we scoped out a few that were dry); we were told the one site in particular was booked. Guess what? it was still empty till noon of next day!! The roads are not gravel but a white powdery kind of mulch; even the next day there was dust coming off the road even at 5 MPH! Any park charging $80/night (before discount) really should have paved roads, never mind paved pads! The other thing was my 25' sewer hose barely made the hookup at the same time trying to get my steps land on the patio concrete (not thought out very well) I would not come back here for $80/night. We camped at New Bern KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

One of the best State parks in North America! Lots of space between pads. Get the pull throughs with sewer if you can, they are HUGE! Nicely paved roads, each site is very clean.
