Mark Twain Cave Campground, Hannibal, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Great campground for families. So much to do on site: the cave tour, panning for gems and fossil dig are really fun (small fees for these), and the onsite winery is nice for the adults. The park has a great playground with a large sandbox and toys available for the kids. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back! We camped at Mark Twain Cave Campground in a Motorhome.

Scott State Park, Scott City, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The scenery is beautiful and we enjoyed biking and exploring the park (a hike up to the lookout is a must). However, the beach area is absolutely disgusting. The beach and docks are completely covered in goose droppings. If you are hoping to build sandcastles with your kids and enjoy swimming at the beach, this is not the place to go. And from the looks of it, it's been this way for a long time. Buildings are in poor repair, many trails were so overgrown that they were impassable, trash and beer cans were everywhere, and the staff in the visitor center were unfriendly. So sad that this beautiful park is so neglected. It needs a lot of love. We won't be back. We camped at Scott State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out nearby Monument Rocks! Worth the extra drive (north towards Oakley).
