Pensacola Beach RV Park, Gulf Breeze, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $78.00
Overall Rating:

This is our first time here, and we love it! It is in a great location, and beautiful. You are steps from their little beach on the sound, or a few minutes walk across the street to the public beach. You can also walk to two great restaurants/bars as well as other ones that aren't as great, but okay. You can also walk to a number of little markets, shops and liquor stores ... so you don't even need a vehicle. The spaces are a good amount of space apart, especially for being on the water! They have hookups on both sides, so you can back in or pull in and be facing the water! The premium spots face the sound, so you have that beautiful view right out the front windshield if you're in a class A or C. There is a pad and a picnic table at each spot, and there's is a hole in each picnic table if you want to bring a large umbrella for extra shade. Regarding their little beach on the sound, you can walk the dogs there (with poop bags provided), but you do have to watch for sand burrs. Just make sure to check the dogs paw pads after each potty break. There are chaise lounges and umbrellas provided, and there are two spots where you can walk out and access the water. The pool is perfect unless there are more than a dozen or so people. They just don't have enough chairs, so be prepared to bring your own. They have four chaise lounges, and two of those are sort of broken. They have four wood tables with umbrellas, and four separate chairs, so needless to say, not a lot of places to lay out and get your tan (or nap) on. My only suggestions aside from adding chaise lounges, would be I kind of wish they had more tropical plants like hibiscus, etc. They have palm trees, which are perfect, but us northerners would love to see flowers we only get to see when we come south! We camped at Pensacola Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

You can find my reviews on Yelp for the Shrimp Basket, Red Fish Blue Fish, Flounders Chowder House and Casino Beach. Red Fish Blue Fish brings in their shrimp and fish fresh daily. Can't say the same for the other places, but Flounders has good chowder, food and a nice vibe too. For the cigar smokers, there is a nice liquor store across the street that has an okay selection. There is a big beach store next door that sells floats, clothes, sunscreen, etc.

Northgate RV Travel Park, Athens, Alabama

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Fair price for the basics. Easy to get to off the freeway, with level spots, good water, sewer and electric. Not much more to say than that. LOL. Highlight of our overnight stay was "Mary" the owners dog. She is about the sweetest thing ever, and loves, loves belly rubs!!!

For those that use a portable DirecTv sat dish, there are two high voltage lines that will make it impossible to get a signal on your Genie of anything better than 22%. We had to climb up and put our dish on the roof of the RV in order to get a good signal. We camped at Northgate RV Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Lake City Campground & Resort, Lake City, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little campground. Reminded us of a KOA with the spaces for tent camping and all of the little cabins. We only stayed the night coming from FL to KY, and we would stay here again. Nice pull-thru spot with a mix of blacktop and grass. You do need to put blocks under the jacks, but they had blocks provided at all of the spots we saw. Good for setting up the DirecTv sat. We would stay here again! We camped at Lake City Campground & Resort in a Motorhome.

Harvest Moon RV Park, Adairsville, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We only stayed the night, as our reservation elsewhere got screwed up, and Harvest Moon could get us in. Really nice little place that's easy to get to. Nice big pull-thru spots and easy to get a sat signal for DirecTv. We didn't use the WiFi, so I'm not sure how good/bad that was. Not sure what the problem was, but there was no hot water for the showers. We would stay here again. We camped at Harvest Moon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Coastline RV Resort, Eastpoint, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for three night and would highly recommend this resort to anyone! As one reviewer said, the bathrooms are spa quality! The rest of the place is right up there too! A gal that works in the office was so helpful when making our reservations, helping us find a rental car, and holding an Amazon order I had shipped there. We also needed to alter our return reservation, and it was no problem, and we now have a credit there we can use the next time we head that way. They do not give refunds! The road noise was not an issue except when a fire truck went by, but otherwise it just was not that busy during our stay. We were in the second row, which meant we could face our RV forwards and have a beautiful view of the water out of our windshield. If you get a front row spot, you cannot face forward. Easy to connect the DirecTV sat, as there is wide open space around the spots!! A very quiet area, but driving to the area towns takes just minutes! We will stay here again for sure! We camped at Coastline RV Resort in a Motorhome.

If you love Seafood Gumbo, you must go to Hole in the Wall Seafood in Appalachacola! A husband and wife run the joint, and she makes the gumbo, and he shucks the oysters. The gumbo is to die for! From Key West to New Orleans, we have never had Seafood Gumbo that was so delicious! Oh, and one bowl can be shared between two people .... it is a huge bowl, especially if you are eating oysters and other food. Gosh, just writing about it again has me drooling for it! LOL

Two Rivers Campground, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Hubby was working in Nashville for the week, so the dogs and I came along. We had heard good things about Two Rivers, so we gave it a shot for the week. It was a nice place to stay, although the spots seemed rather close to us. The dog areas are up near the very busy road, which took the dogs a day or two to get used to.

We were in spot #113, over on the Camping World side, but there was no noise or anything that made that bothersome. We did have trees behind us, but that didn't hamper us being able to get a DirecTV signal on the satellite. Our neighbors moved to another spot, because they woke up to what they thought was rain, but it was sap poring down from the tree hanging over their rig. The sap was lol over their dogs paws, which was also messy.

Note: The picnic tables are the tiniest little tables I have ever seen. I did see four adults eating at one, but we considered them two-people tables.

I have to give kudos to the two grounds/maintenance guys, who were always busy cleaning up after trashy people, trimming tree limbs, blowing leaves, etc. They noticed that our water was dripping at the spigot, came over and added a washer for us, fixing the problem. Very nice.

We did drive down to check out the KOA, and if we returned, we would probably give the KOA a try. The spots seemed a little wider and the whole place was very nicely landscaped. I have friends who have stayed at both Two Rivers and the KOA, and both places get great reviews.

We would stay here again! We camped at Two Rivers Campground in a Motorhome.

You can take the shuttle downtown for $10 round trip. Right down the road there is a little honky tonk called Scoreboard. They have live music on the patio Wed-Sun, which isn't too bad. The also allow dogs on their patio. The food is good, especially their hot chicken, which was premiered on the Food Network. Good food, good service, and a nice place to chill close to the RV park.

Paintsville Lake Campgrounds, Staffordsville, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in spot #20, which is three spots down from the spot closest to the water. We didn't pay for the wifi, and had sort of good service with Verizon. Telephone and texts worked fine, and emails came in in batches.

This is an adorable little campground. I won't repeat everything that has already been posted about, except the pea gravel. It is tiny and sticks to everything. We put a bath towel on the first step into the rig, and then another bath towel at the top of the steps. This really helped get the gravel off of our feet and shoes before coming into the rig.

Sadly it rained almost the entire weekend, so we didn't get out with the dogs much. But, we were able to walk over to the marina, and see what boats could be rented, and the little restaurant that is there. We can't wait to go back next summer, rent a pontoon, and eat at the little diner.

The camp host shows true pride in the campground and his/her camp spot. Every spot has a large hanger pole, where you can hang a lantern, your family name sign, or a pretty plant. That made it feel so homey! Every spot also has a pretty large gravel patio area, with a picnic table and fire pit.

The showers aren't huge, but there are curtains between the shower and seating area. There is also a very clean little laundry room. Behind the bath/laundry house are the primitive sites, which also look so cozy!

We will definitely return!! We camped at Paintsville Lake Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Cave Country RV Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice little campground, with courteous owners. We stayed in site #3, which had no fire pit or picnic table, but they did bring us a table after we requested one. They told us they were short one picnic table, which I understand, but I don't really understand not having a fire pit at every site.

We were with a small group, and used their clubhouse, which was very nice. A great place for a group to hold a meeting or enjoy a meal together, complete with kitchen area and a/c and heat.

Really nice fenced in area for the dogs, as well as other green space for walking them.

No pool and no playground, which meant no children, at least while we were here. It would have been really nice to enjoy an afternoon in the pool, given the temps. Maybe they have nothing for kids to do, just to keep it a quiet park. (?)

The only other negative is the way they have the place laid out, with all sites facing the afternoon sun. We pretty much spent the afternoon chilling out inside our RV until the sun started going down.

Even though there is some traffic noise, and a train track, this is a pretty quiet park. Would have given an overall higher rating if there had been a swimming pool. We camped at Cave Country RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Follow the River RV Resort, Florence, Indiana

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We like this park for several reasons, so we have come here a few times since purchasing our RV last fall. 1. It's close to Belterra Casino, and the shuttle will come get you and drop you off. 2. It's very close to where we live, so it's just a 45 minute drive for us to get here. 3. The place has never been real full when we have stayed there, so it's easy to find good open spaces to walk the dogs. They also have a long walking trail that goes down through the woods, and winds around by a creek that obviously has come out of its banks during heavy rains.

We were in spot #55 this time, which is one of the sides where you don't get the afternoon sun in your face. With the awning open, you can have shade through the afternoon, and you're right by the lake for some good catch and release fishing.

After arriving this past weekend, we were getting set up and had the a/c running, the TV on, and then half of our power went out. We thought it was a fluke, and reset the breaker at the pole. Later when hubby turned on the microwave, the breaker popped again. Went to the office and they gave us a 50/30 converter plug, and told us to plug into the 50-amp. We did that, had no more problems, until we went to unplug upon leaving time. We then found that our plug had black burn markets, and the plastic was melted. We had to replace the plug, and have called the owner to make sure he is aware of the problem, but he has yet to return our call.

Park is wide open, so getting a sat signal for TV is no problem. WiFi is spotty ... a lot of emails will come in overnight when less people are using it.

Baths are clean, but poor water pressure.

People still call this a new park, but it has been around long enough for them to now have problems that aren't being handled, like the breakers. They also have probably 90% of the pole lights at the sites that are out. Some money and landscaping could really bring this park up where they would be sold out all of the time. We camped at Follow the River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

While they do have a pool, volleyball and put-put, everything is so run down and not taken care of. There was a guy there painting picnic tables, and they sure needed it, along with everything else. Tons of clover, so tons of bees, which made it hard to walk the dogs. Not a lot else to say. We didn't see but one family outside enjoying themselves. I'm guessing most people were just there to sleep. We went to Elkhart to order recliners, and chose to have them shipped to us, so we don't have to make the return back. We would not want to stay here again. We camped at Elkhart Campground in a Motorhome.

We are here right now, for the first time, and love the place! Absolutely adorable, with the best owners you could ask for! They even called when we were a few hours away, to make sure that we had the right directions! A lot of regulars and full-timers, and their sites are very nice!! The owners work closely with those folks, so that the place looks fantastic! People do have golf carts, but use them very respectfully. No teens flying around on them! I won't repeat all of the good stuff that has already been posted by others .... it's all true! I took one point off, just because we are right by where they have everybody park their cars, which can get loud because of big, noisy trucks. However, we asked for a spot clear of trees, so we could get good satellite reception, which is why we are here and not down in some of the wooded spots. Ideally, it would be great if they had people park out near the road, which isn't far at all, just to keep the road noise down around the campers. Beautiful place and we will definitely be back!! We camped at Arrowhead Campground in a Motorhome.

Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for one night on our way to Myrtle Beach, and then again for a night on our return home.

The place is beautiful, wooded, and next to (built into) a mountain. A very peaceful setting with a little creek running through it.

On our first night, we were down on the lowest level, and while the site was fine, we could not get a satellite signal for our dish. But, not to worry, they have cable and a lot of channels compared to a lot of other campgrounds.

On our return trip we stayed up on the middle level, and had no problem getting a satellite signal for DirecTv. That site overlooks the lower level and the huge dog park area, and you can look up (way up) to the upper level sites.

I have heard that the upper level sites are amazing, but I cannot imagine driving our 32' Class C up there! We watched a guy try and drive his rig up there (the kind that has a front that looks like a semi truck) and it took him several times to get to the top.

This is a beautiful campground ... so peaceful ! We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $76.00
Overall Rating:

We fell in love with this place so much that we are heading back in November. We were by the lake in spot #125, which was perfect. We had adult and baby ducks visit us daily, and hubby could catch and release fish in the lake whenever he wanted. Verizon phone service was at full strength. Their WiFi was spotty, but texting worked good, and emails would come through overnight when usage was down.

When we arrived we asked the gals at the front desk if there were good places to eat within walking distance. They told us about a fast food place (maybe Bojangles?) by Walmart, but that was about it (we did not have a tow.) they need to be better informed, and tell us about the offerings right there on their own grounds! The arcade area sells all kinds of foods, from fresh ground burgers, pizza, chicken tenders, fries, and all sorts of ice creams and shakes! Fantastic!! They also have Breakfast by the Sea on the grounds, which serve up good, cheap breakfasts, including homemade biscuits (raspberry, chocolate chip, etc) that are so delicious we went back every day for the biscuits, after we found the place!! Needless to say, you don't need a car or to bring a ton of food, as everything you could want is right on campus!

Walking the dogs on the beach after 5:00 each day was wonderful. Hubby and I, and the dogs just loved our evening strolls!

Golf carts are limited to the folks that full-time there, which was nice. No teens flying around on them at all hours. The bath houses are super nice and clean, and easy to get to. The pools are clean and easy to get to no matter where your spot is.

Every spot has its own covered picnic table area (cabana?) Regulars there decorate their cabanas, and some even enclose theirs making them very private. We used ours to hang clothes line for hanging beach towels and bathing suits. Next time we are taking party lights, so our space doesn't look so baron compared to others. LOL

AAA+++ in our book!! We camped at Myrtle Beach Travel Park in a Motorhome.
