Bruceport County Park, South Bend, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

There isn't much to this park except the closeness to US 101. It's a bit run-down and the bathrooms need much repair. A warning, if you have a longer rig be very careful near the back of the park, there is an impossibly tight section to navigate that might require you to drive out of the park backwards. We camped at Bruceport County Park in a Travel Trailer.

Thousand Trails - Oceana, Ocean City, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

I'm so angry with this park for one simple reason: they have tire puncture spikes installed on the exit road. Seriously!!! Sure, there are some small short stop signs visible from the road, but if you're arriving for the first time or after dark and don't see them, it will cost you dearly. I'm lucky I picked the right entrance coming in. Be very careful here!

Otherwise this was a great park with walking trail access to a beach. The nicer sites are in the back, but those sites have no sewer access. At the time we stayed the playground was off limits, presumably for repair. If they removed the tire puncture spikes I would have given this park a 8. We camped at Thousand Trails - Oceana in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The beach is very wide with flat hard sand and gentle waves. You can drive on it. It reminded me of Daytona Beach.

Three Rivers Resort & Guide Service, Forks, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

The sites are narrow and difficult to navigate. If you have a big rig, you must pick a site near the front since the back is impossible. This place was dirty from pine needles, damp and densely shaded. The park is minimally serviced by the gas station. The showers were nasty and cost lots of money. The laundry facilities were broken half of the time we were there. What it lacked in cleanliness it made up in location. It's close to both La Push and the Hoh Rain Forest. It is also featured in the Twilight series as the treaty line. We camped at Three Rivers Resort & Guide Service in a Travel Trailer.

The beaches at Deception Pass and Rosario are fun. We also took the short (and extremely steep) drive to Mt Erie which has great views of the area.

Narrow sites and strict rules about almost anything you could think of. Kids and pets are possibly unwelcome here. I wouldn't return. We camped at Nor' West RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tolt-MacDonald Park & Campground, Carnation, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

There is a big open field in the middle between all the campsites and several bike trails through the area. It's a pretty, and a relaxing place. However the only dump station nearby is at the same business that runs the laundry. Both are expensive. We camped at Tolt-MacDonald Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The sites were a bit narrow, but not too narrow. The staff was one of the kindest we have experienced. My kids loved the bouncy house and the game room. We camped at Mount St Helen's RV Park - KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This place was very picky about their grass, otherwise it wasn't too bad. The majority of the sites were pull thru. They also have a pool and a hot tub. We camped at Mtn. View RV (formerly Mtn. View Holiday Trav-L-Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA , Arco, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA was one of our kids' favorite places to stay ever. Not only was there a pool and playground, but FREE WAFFLES every morning and an ice cream social in the evenings. There are only a few minutes from Craters of the Moon. The owners are some of the friendliest we've met. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Ask an Arco resident what the meaning of Number Hill is. The answer and the history might surprise you. The nation's first nuclear reactor is only a few miles away and offers a tour.

Yellowstone Valley Inn & RV Park, Wapiti, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $56.00

The location is about the closest RV park you can get to the east side of Yellowstone. It was overpriced for a gravel parking lot. They did have a pool and a restaurant. We camped at Yellowstone Valley Inn & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Creekside Mountain RV Park, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

There are no public facilities but all sites are full hookup. There are only a dozen or so sites and a few would be tricky for a big rig. The owner is quite friendly but lets their dogs go unleashed. We also enjoyed the direct access to the Mickelson biking/walking trail. We camped at Creekside Mountain RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Chain of Lakes Regional Park, Rice Creek Campground, Lino Lakes, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived after hours because a different reservation fell through. The camp host was wonderfully helpful and the campsites were spacious. There are trees and tall grasses separating the sites so you might see one neighbor at most. As with most campgrounds in Minnesota there are mosquitoes everywhere. We camped at Chain of Lakes Regional Park, Rice Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Squaw Creek Campground (Linn County Park), Marion, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has an excellent playground, clean but minimalist showers, and a few short trails. Since it is so close to Cedar Rapids / Marion the cell coverage is great. I plan to return regularly. Note that there are 2 loops to this park. The loop with sewer connections is reservable, but costs more. The other loop is first-come first-serve. We camped at Squaw Creek Campground (Linn County Park) in a Travel Trailer.
