Ogston RV Park, Saginaw, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Park is about 8 miles from the outskirts of Duluth and about 13 miles from the heart of Duluth and the lake. Most sites were for overnight and short term and were pull-through with sufficient space for slides and awning. All hookups were convenient and worked well. While our site was right beside a WiFi tower, the reception was the best we have experienced at any park. No cable but major network local stations can be picked up on antenna and all sites are satellite friendly. Club house in center of park contained a restroom, 3-4 washer/dryer laundry, and a single shower all very clean. Only check or cash accepted. We camped at Ogston RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Within the 8-9 miles there is a Walmart SuperCenter and a major mall with large chain stores like Dick's, Best Buy, Target, JCPenney's, and Kohl's among many other known stores and restaurants.

Lebanon Hills Regional Park Campground, Apple Valley, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice place to stay when visiting the twin cities. This is a regional park in the center of a major suburb. Thus, the park is secluded yet it is convenient to about any type of store you may need just a couple of miles away. Very quiet with lots of paved trails. Sites were plenty long and sufficient for slides and awning but a little close to adjacent sites. Some trees around but was able to find a satellite opening. All hookups worked fine. Water hookup is at front of site and required my extra hose to reach. There are two sewer hookups so shouldn't be a problem for anyone's normal connection. Point was made by the office that mats were not allowed to protect grass. We camped at Lebanon Hills Regional Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Trails RV Park, Walker, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Lady in office was very accommodating and calculated two night max PA discount versus Good Sam and gave us best rate. Park is about 4 miles from Walker stores and Super One foods. About a dozen sites are pull-through and exclusively for overnighters and short term stays. These pull-through are very long and will accommodate any size rig and also are very spacious and open (satellite friendly). The back-in sites also were spacious and seem to be open to the southern sky and I would assume would be satellite friendly. Laundry had two washers and dryers which were $1.50 (I believe) and had 45 min dry time which was plenty. Cable only had 11 channels but covered the main local NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX stations. WIFI was hard to connect to. Never could connect to the closest towers with strongest signal but occasionally could connect to weaker signal towers. Park was convenient to Itasca State Park and lake Eastern entrance with Southern entrance return through Walker. Great paved bike trail at entrance to park. We camped at Trails RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Autumn Woods RV Park, Rochester, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here a week while having tests at Mayo Clinic. Absolutely the perfect place to stay. Only about 10-15 minutes from the clinic and a $5 round trip shuttle is available if desired. We had a tow vehicle so we opted to drive and utilize the $25 weekly Mayo parking pass but otherwise it is $12/day. We had a back-in basic site (Site 52) which was gravel but level both side to side and front to back. Site was plenty sufficient for slides and awning. In the Basic site area, the trees were very young which provided for good satellite access. Our site was near the front of the park and the road noise from a major artery some have noted was no problem. There are two laundry rooms, one with 2 washers and dryers and the main one with 4 washers and dryers. Both very clean and cost $1.50 wash and 40 min dry. They are very accommodating for Mayo patients. You don't even designate your length of stay. Just check in and the site is yours until you check out and you pay for the length of stay. Lady in the office is a jewel. Definitely would stay here again whether going to Mayo or just visiting the area. We camped at Autumn Woods RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sharp RV Park, Saint Joseph, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We just overnighted but it is ideal for that. Can't beat full hookups, easy in and out, close proximity to gas, restaurants, and shopping, and Passport America rate of $14. We were in one of the 3-4 overnight sites which were very easy to get in and out of but were closest to US-169, which was noisier but tolerable. All were gravel and level. All hookups were convenient and worked fine. Wi-Fi was great. Could even stream my recorded Dish DVR stuff from home with very few pauses. There is no cable but antenna picked up about 30 KC stations. We'd not try out the bathrooms or laundry. Not even sure if they had one. Would definitely stay here again if passing through or even staying for a few days. We camped at Sharp RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Walnut Grove RV Park, Merriam, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is about our 4th time to stay here. I gave it an 8 because of the great location. Very close in, essentially in the middle of the Shawnee Mission area. A lot more convenient than some of the outlying parks which are 10 miles out of town. If you get a back-in site they are plenty wide for slides, awning, and parking of a vehicle. If you get one of the pull-through overnight sites they are barely wide enough to get your RV in. Essentially not wide enough to even set lawn chairs out. Thus, ask for one of the back-in sites. Sites are gravel and quite level. We just backed in and unhooked. WiFi worked well. We were even able to stream some of our Dish DVR recordings from our receiver at home with very few freezing or lockups. While we did not use the laundry or restrooms, I checked them out and they were quite adequate. No problems with electricity water, or sewer. We were only there for a couple of days and did not set the satellite up but there were plenty of local stations and since it was right in KC, the reception was great. The park is just a mile off of I-35 in the middle of a residential area. Thus, access to other parts of the KC area is quite easy but there is no noise given the residential surroundings. As previously, we will stay here again when in the KC area. We camped at Walnut Grove RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
