Heron Lake State Park, Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in Blanco loop with water and 30 amp electric. Nice long half circle level pull through with covered picnic table and fire ring. Huge sites with Ponderosa Pines, Pinion and several varieties of Juniper screening line of site between sites. Roads and sites are good gravel and level. CG is quiet and less busy than in the past as there is little boating activity due to low lake level, which is really the only negative we found. We camped at Heron Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad in Chama is great. There are several nice hiking trails that run through the several campgrounds and along the lake all the way to El Vado Lake State Park. Lot's of cool geocaches in the area also.

Heald's Haven RV & Campground (CLOSED), Salmon, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Very small park right on the Salmon river in remote Idaho. Beautiful location, great service from the owner. She went out of her way to make sure our spot could get good satellite reception. Everything worked well and the place is immaculate. Quiet and peaceful, just like we like it. Will return this year. We camped at Heald's Haven RV & Campground (CLOSED) in a Motorhome.

Jim & Mary's RV Park, Missoula, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautifully maintained RV park. Tons of flowers and well kept grassy areas plus large shade trees. We had 2 issues that kept this from being a 9 or 10. The traffic noise from US 93 is pretty loud, and the train tracks are close enough behind the park to produce annoying noise, including overnight. The other issue for us was the beautiful evergreen shade trees make satellite TV usage impossible for at least 60-75% of the sites, including ours. However, even with all that, we would stay here again. The service was great and the place was booked every night. One other item, some sites (ours) were water and electric only, no sewer. We camped at Jim & Mary's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fairmont RV Park, Anaconda, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Quiet open park, little road noise. Expensive considering lack of facilities. Price likely due to walking distance to hot springs and resort. Easy to navigate. Gravel roads in good condition. Grassy sites with little shade in the large pull thru sites. Utilities all worked as expected. Laundry clean, 4 washers and dryers (one out of order), didn't use restrooms or showers. We camped at Fairmont RV Park in a Motorhome.

Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground, Manila, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Nice open sites near the water. We stayed in loop B, electric sites. Level, paved site. Well groomed grounds. Didn't use the restrooms nor showers. Our only issue was the dump station was an extra $6. To add insult to injury, the Credit Card Reader was broken, so we had to get someone from the office to come and sell us tokens to dump. At least the fresh water was free. Great views of water. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We drove the Sheep Creek Scenic Byway twice it was so beautiful. Lot's of gorgeous rock formation and scenic drives including one by Green River/Rock Springs to see wild horses. And of course, tons of water sports on the Reservoir.
