Petoskey KOA Holiday, Petoskey, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

If only all KOA parks were like this park! Our usual preference is to stay at privately owned parks, but we were lured to this park by the previous excellent reviews. The office staff were most welcoming and helpful as were the employees working around the campsite. We ran in to some dangling branches when initially parking, and the staff responded quickly with branch clippers. The campground appeared to be very family oriented with organized programming for youth and play areas for younger children. The only negative was having to cross a very busy three-lane highway on foot if you wanted access to the bike path. But once on the bike path, you couldn't ask for anything better. We would definitely return to this campground. We camped at Petoskey KOA Holiday in a Motorhome.

Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping, Mackinaw City, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a huge campground with many family oriented activities. We spent three nights here and found it to be adequate for our needs. There was easy access to a well groomed bike path which allowed us to pedal to Mackinaw City. The campground also provides a shuttle service to the Mackinac Island ferry and discounted tickets. Unfortunately, all garbage has to be carried to the front office dumpsters, which can be a very long walk if you are at one of the more distant camp sites. The owners should consider investing in a better garbage hauling service, as the dumpsters were overflowing on a Wednesday. Also, the WiFi connections and internet service, provided by Tengo, did not work at all during our three-day stay. We most likely would not stay here again. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

Aune-Osborn Campground, Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We spent three days in this park and although there is little shade, the park is in an excellent location on the St. Mary's River. We did not have a river front site. However, we were close enough to see the large ships passing from our site. There is easy access to fishing, lock tours, and the town. The only negatives were the lack of shade and the Canada geese. Regardless, we would stay there again. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Motorhome.

Woodland Park Campground, Grand Marais, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

If you can tolerate a campground run on a first-come first-serve basis, and you want to enjoy some beautiful scenery, then this campground is worth a try. We arrived early on a Wednesday afternoon and found that no sites were available. However, we were placed in an overflow site (dry camping) for one night and all went well. The office staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, and we quickly learned the informal rules for seeking out a new site for the next day. The bottom line is that you find the site and then tell the office, and you have to be quick. We ended up in a site with a great view of Lake Superior and easy access to the beach. We were able to ride our bicycles to the Dunes and the town, although very small, was nearby with lots of charm. The campground is not fancy but the location was well worth the time and effort. We camped at Woodland Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Northforest Campground, Tomahawk, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We spent one night in this campground while on the way to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The location was farther from the main road than expected. However, the staff were very welcoming. We encountered a problem with our electricity hook up about 7:00 PM on a Saturday. A staff member responded promptly, and the problem was resolved. Our site was pleasant, but we noticed many sites that were quite crowded and located in a field. The park appeared to have many seasonal residents. Due to its location (distance from main routes), we would most likely not stay there again. We camped at Northforest Campground in a Motorhome.

Amana Colonies RV Park, Amana, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Spent one night here while en route to our final destination. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The site was adequate but it was truly in the middle of a sunny and huge field. There was no shade. However, the site did provide access to a nice bike path to Amana and easy access to shops and restaurants. We might stay here again as a stop over, but not for more than one night. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Gotta Getaway (Formerly Lazy J RV Resort), Bellevue, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed in this park for one night while on a journey to the midwest. Very good location in terms of access to the major highways. Office staff were very warm and welcoming. Park was well maintained. Our site was grass, however, there were other paved or gravel sites. There was not a lot of space between rigs, but the atmosphere was still very comfortable. Great spot for a brief stay. We would urge caution (drive slowly!) when entering and exiting the campground due to the moderate pitch of the driveway where it meets the road. We camped at Gotta Getaway (Formerly Lazy J RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Bald Eagle State Park, Howard, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at this park for one night on July 16, 2015 in our 35 foot RV. It's a very nice park with nice facilities and beautiful views of the Pennsylvania hills. Easy access to the lake with opportunities for swimming, fishing, and other family entertainment. Also found opportunities for a little bicycle riding, exploring the different sections of the campground. The bathrooms were not in the best of shape, but we have seen worse. We would definitely stay at this park again. We camped at Bald Eagle State Park in a Motorhome.
