Bucksaw Campground COE, Clinton, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We usually love COE parks, but this one wasn't our favorite. The sites are very large, and we were in one of the FHU sites. There are no signs telling you where the numbered sites are and we headed down the main road and discovered we should've turned left to get to our site. Not knowing the campground, we ended up having to back up as we were on a tent loop that didn't look like it went through. A little signage would be nice. Utilities worked well. The campground appeared to be pretty rundown. Not sure why, but there were a couple of loops that were closed off and no longer being taken care of. That made it look really rundown. All utilities worked well. No AT&T coverage, Verizon very weak. There were tons of trees and hard to get satellite coverage and there was no over the air stations. You can't even see the lake from this campground. We probably wouldn't stay here again. We camped at Bucksaw Campground COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Fleming Park/Blue Springs Campground, Blue Springs, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great little park. The sites are fairly large, the FHU utilities worked very well, AT&T and Verizon coverage were good. Some sites will need a lot of leveling and others are level. We were in one that needed some leveling, but not bad. There is some road noise from I-470 but mostly during the rush hours. Every time you exit, you must go through the dump station. It wasn't busy when we left, and since we had FHU, we didn't need to dump but would've been held up in line if there were people dumping. The lake is nearby but not accessible directly from the park. Nice playground for kids. The park is very convenient for touring the KC area. No WIFI. We camped at Fleming Park/Blue Springs Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Prairie Band Casino, Mayetta, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. FHU, all utilities worked well. WIFI was pretty good, a little busy at night. Sites are concrete with grass in between. Would've rated a 10 but there is absolutely no shade here, and KS is known to be hot in the summer. They do not take reservations. The laundry was very clean and only cost $1/wash and .75/dry. Close enough to Topeka to enjoy the "big city" benefits. Very quiet. We camped at Prairie Band Casino in a Fifth Wheel.

Stallbaumer RV Park and Campground, Seneca, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here one night. Didn't have reservations, but there was a # to call before you parked. Unlike what others had mentioned, we were told it was $30/night for FHU and an additional $2 for WIFI. Cable was another charge which we did not use. We had a Good Sam discount. We were a little disappointed that all sites pull in towards the pond, so those with back windows see the hotel. It was lit up at night and was very bright shining in the windows. We did hear the road noise from Hwy 36. It is a very nicely kept park. The WIFI we paid for was extremely fast. Utilities worked fine. Level sites. We camped at Stallbaumer RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Minooka Park COE, Sylvan Grove, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice COE park. We were here over a weekend and it was really crowded. The sites in Loop A and B were very large, C-E loops were a lot closer together. They are water/electric sites and the utilities worked fine. No shade. Sites were pretty level. There really isn't any sites that have good access to the water. Also, the rules are definitely not enforced. They say 2 vehicles per site and 1 RV and 1 tent or 2 tents, but everyone around us had many more than that. At one time there were 6 vehicles, 2 boats, an RV and tent at one site. Made for a very noisy bunch. Every site around us had many more than the rules allow. That would probably only happen in the A-B loop as the sites are really long. Don't know that we would stay here again not due to the campsites, but not having much lake access sites. We camped at Minooka Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Bear Creek Lake Park, Indian Paintbrush Campground, Lakewood, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This park is truly a hidden gem! We never expected to have a campground in the city where you can't even see the city. This is a huge city park with lots and lots to do in it. They have horses, boat rentals, beach, lots of trails and biking. Electric only sites. Good cell coverage. The sites are HUGE. Easy to get to from C-470 There is a little noise from the C-470 traffic, but we didn't notice it inside. No shade. We would definitely stay here again. James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section), Fruita, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This being a state park in CO, you do have to pay a daily fee on top of the camp fee. We have an annual pass but I believe the daily fee was $7. We were pleasantly surprised to have FHU in a state park. All utilities worked well. There is lots to do (fishing, playground, trails, bikes) but it was too hot for us to get out and enjoy them. Temps in mid-90s and not much shade at our site. Some sites had more shade than others. They were all pull-thru sites. Satellite, no problem, AT&T and Verizon, good coverage. Very close to the Colorado National Monument. If there was a down side, it would be that they have a sprinkler system that runs a lot and it left spray on our vehicle that we had just washed! Would stay here again. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Fifth Wheel.

Uncompahgre River RV Park (55+ park), Olathe, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very quiet 55+ park. All utilities were excellent, including the WIFI, best we've had yet. Sites are level, you are led to your site and guided in. As you come in, it is a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, we were in what I believe must be a new section and it was quite a sight, but in fairness to the owner, the lawnmower had broke down and the weeds were taking over what had been planted grass. You can tell they take pride in their business and are very friendly and trying to do a good job of keeping the place up. There were lots of dead trees laying around that took away from the beauty also. Laundry was spotless, $2/load wash and dry, 6 machines each. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Uncompahgre River RV Park (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Gunnison KOA, Gunnison, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We have been full-timers for 2 yrs now and this has to be the worst experience we have had yet. Check-in was 2, we arrived at 2:30 and was told the people had not checked out of the site, checkout is 11. We were told they appear to be in no hurry so they took us to a site to sit at until our site was open. 3 1/2 hours after checkout and they aren't gone?? It was too hot to shut off the truck so we left it running for a/c. We asked if we could be put in another spot and they said they were all taken? What about the one they had us in temporarily?? After waiting 45 minutes the people had finally vacated the spot. We were led to our site and it was mud! Ruts were so large he tried to pull us further forward. The people next to us moved the next day due to the mud. Then we had neighbors that were construction workers that drank and talked very loudly with obscenities all evening long. The police showed up at 11 pm the last night we were there. Not sure who called. The only positive of the park was they were trying to make it look nice. Very crowded, and very poor management. Also, it is right by the airport and planes left as early as 7am and late as 10:30 pm. Very loud as it is right at the end of the runway. We would never stay here again. I've never rated a park this bad, but really wish we would've left immediately due to the bad management. We were in the "new" section which was supposed to be bigger, but still very crowded. We camped at Gunnison KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Pikes Peak RV Park, Manitou Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very small park in a very great location. I so wanted to give it a 10 but there were just some of those "point deductions" that didn't allow me to do that. One being no WIFI and the other is that it is on a very busy road (Hwy 24 Business Loop) The owners are very friendly and greet you as you come in and help you park (which is great since the spaces are so tight). There is significant road noise although it seemed to really drop during the night, so may not be a problem to many. There is a free bus that stops right outside the park entrance that takes you right into downtown Manitou Springs and you can catch another free bus to the Cog Railway or Incline. All utilities worked well. It was hard to get satellite coverage due to the trees. The place is immaculately clean. The laundry is also very clean and plenty of washers/dryers ($1.50 each I think?). They have a gate that goes out of the park right into a city park. Great for walking the dogs. The sites are all gravel and some had a patio. We will stay here again if we are in the area. The rate is a weekly rate. Think the nightly rate was $45. We camped at Pikes Peak RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hitch'n Post RV Park, Wray, Colorado

Overall Rating:

Very small park (17 sites?). Very nicely kept grounds. Most sites are pull-thru and FHU. There are a few back-in W/E sites. Sites are level. There is a laundry we but we did not use it. Open so satellite signal no issue. AT&T and Verizon were fair signals. All utilities worked good. WIFI was good. You are in the middle of nowhere out here, so not much to do. We were only here for a night and it was peaceful. Great for a place to relax! Very nice owners. There is no shade, but there is a row of evergreens on the south side of the park that make a great wind block. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Hitch'n Post RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

North Star RV Park and Mobile Home Community, Valley Center, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here several times as we are from the area. This really is a pretty nice park. All utilities worked well. Easy to get satellite. WIFI was iffy. This is a great place to overnight as it is close to I-35 but far enough away that the noise isn't a problem. There is a small playground for kids. There is a pool, but I don't believe it is ever open. We've been there 4 times and it's never been open. Weeds growing up inside the fence. This really is a nicely maintained park, but there are some mobile homes that are vacant on the other side of the park. Most have been vacant for years. The owner is very picky about who he allows to stay and the rules he has set forth. We always feel safe at this park. Will stay here again. The $18 is a weekly rate, and he adds $4.00/day for electric that you prepay and then he refunds whatever you don't use. There is also a $4 charge to use a credit card. We camped at North Star RV Park and Mobile Home Community in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Very nice city park with water and electric hookups. All utilities worked well. There is an honor box to pay your fee. The park is right next to the Arkansas River which they have named their city lake. Lots of shade, didn't try to get satellite or OTA channels. No sewer but there is a dump station. Right across the street from a very nice park for kids. Very nice fishing dock. Good cell coverage and there is free WIFI that worked very well for us. Every time we got out of it, we did have to sign back in, but it worked very well for us. Would definitely stay here again. There are trains that blow their horns, and they came through at midnight and 7am. We camped at Ellis Lakeside Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Karrer City Park, McCook, Nebraska

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $5.00
Overall Rating:

As many have said, this city park offers free camping, but accept donations. There is a donation box on the restrooms building. We only stayed here one night. There are only 7 sites, in a half-moon shape. All sites have electric and there is a water spigot in the center park area. Electric was good. We got 1 OTA channel, and didn't try satellite since we were only there one night. It would've been tough to get it as there are trees all around the edge. If you are out by the road, you could get it for sure. It was strange, we showed up at 3 and there were 5 other campers there. This is definitely not a quiet park. You are sandwiched between a railroad track and US Hwy 34. The train does not blow a whistle, but we were so close to the track that it rumbled. Trains came through at midnight and 7am. Lots of truck traffic on 34. People showed up at midnight to camp and had very loud motors in their RV. Not sure we'd camp here again. Too noisy and no security. We camped at Karrer City Park in a Fifth Wheel.

America's Best Campground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

As about everybody else has commented, a lot of the sites aren't very level, the park is located on a hill and the sites are fairly close together. We did not have neighbors on either side, so we were fine. The picnic table is right next to the neighbors sewer/utilities. All utilities worked well and satellite reception was good. Both AT&T and Verizon had good signal. The park WIFI was good with the exception that many sites are blocked due to streaming which made it impossible to get weather when we lost our satellite signal in a storm. The park is very clean, the laundry is clean and $2/load. They have a carwash for your rig. It rained the whole time we were there and some of the sites had washout but they were quick to fix them. It is VERY convenient to Branson without having to be in traffic to get to the park. Would stay here again. We camped at America's Best Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
