Town & Country RV Park and Campground, Savage, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Clean restrooms-granite countertops with bronze fixtures, wow!

Great staff so polite and helpful. If ever I am in the Minneapolis St. Paul area I will stay there again. Quiet place. Nice pool and jacuzzi. Had to pay extra for a pull thru but, level and fresh gravel. We camped at Town & Country RV Park and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Timberline Campground, Waukee, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Restrooms not cleaned daily. Skeet Range next door started shooting @ 10 AM on Sunday. Trailers parked together even when there are plenty of sites to choose from. Jack and Jill pull-throughs, so only one trailer can use its awning at a time and two fire rings between trailers. I could see at least 20 fires from my campsite. Air very heavy with smoke after dark. Tent sites not level. My site had a truck in it and I had to find the owner two sites over drinking beer and ask him to move from my pad. Not too noisy except for the gun fire. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Wakonda State Park, La Grange, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Nice state park. We stayed at Boulder Lake a 20 acre fishing lake. Tents, trailers, RVs, popups, and even a family in a horse trailer-no horses.

Stayed on a Friday night and had to pay for two days as the reservation system would not allow for a one night stay on the weekend. We called and tried to get one night but, not able even on the phone. Also had to pay a $8 reservation fee. It was like a local family park lots of kids and attentive parents. Very happy place. Fishing, bicycles, skooters and kids doing kid things on the playground with thier parents. After dark very quiet and the next morning all was quiet until way after daylight. I would go back. The rest room and shower facility shows it's age but really clean. Stayed on a handicap site, level, flat and, close to the water spigot. All other sites were gravel and not to level-bring big blocks. Most of the locals had 6x6 blocking and more. It is lakeside and everybody seemed prepared for a bit of a grade. We camped at Wakonda State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Campground host was courteous and friendly. Saw the Game Warden and Park Rangers cruising multiple times. The county sheriff was parked at the ranger station when I left. They lock the gates at night. You must call ahead if you are going to be late for check-in. This is a lakeside campsite bring lots of insect protection! Don't use the vault toilet at the playground.

Hillman Ferry Campground, Land Between the Lakes NRA, Golden Pond, Kentucky

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground most sites are gravel, some pullthroughs are tight and not easy for big fifth wheels. The scars on the trees attest to the fact that not all drivers are equal. Clean rest rooms, nice separate shower facility. We stayed in section D water and electric site D-02 right next to the restrooms, very close fit pull through for my 18' trailer. First week of August during mid week and the campground is only 10% full. The diversity of sites is amazing, there are some that I definitely could not park my trailer on. Most sites are flat but have a grade either to the road or away from it. It rains a bit here. There are quite a few seasonal setups. Apparently you can get a seasonal rental from the Forest Service which maintains this National Recreational area. I got a discount with my Access pass. The staff and workers were very courteous. We camped at Hillman Ferry Campground, Land Between the Lakes NRA in a Travel Trailer.
