Fort Chiswell RV Park, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at this park several years ago, liked it and decided to stay again. Called while on the road to get a site. They have expanded the park out into the field in the front of the park since our last stay and we were placed in the new section. This area does not have any trees like the rest of the park. Site was a pull-thru as most are and required a little leveling. Utilities are well placed and no issues with water or electric even though the park was almost full. However at this site the septic connection was well above ground level, unlike the others, which made draining the tanks difficult. Wi-fi worked okay. Nice pool. There is only one restroom and shower building for the entire park so it is a bit of a walk from the new section if you want to use their facilities. The restrooms and showers are kept very clean though. The park is surrounded by fields and farmland with cows. Good place to stop for a night or two on your way north or south. We would camp here again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Twin Bridge Meadow Family Campground, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Choices for campgrounds in this area are few. Needed a place for one night and this fit the bill. Campground is a bit of a drive from the highway thru town. Check in at the office, which is near the house and barn, was easy and the man at the desk friendly. Our site was in an open grass field that looked liked it was used more for rallies. Utilities at this site were on the wrong side which made for a awkward parking position. There are sites along the river that have trees and are more like a campground. Lots of families and kids having fun in that section. Restrooms and showers are basic and could have been cleaner. Okay place for a night stay. As I said before choices in this area are few. Would probably continue on or stop earlier somewhere else next time. We camped at Twin Bridge Meadow Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park. We were only there for one night on our way north but wish we could have stayed longer. Check in was quick and easy, staff friendly and we were escorted to our site. You are in the mountains so the interior roads are a bit steep but not a problem. We were in the lower section so our pull-thru site was terraced into the slope. The site we had was nicely graveled and did not require leveling. Plenty of space and lots of trees and native flora. There was a table, fire ring and the utilities and septic were well placed and no issues with electric. Cell phone and wifi worked well. The restrooms and showers are the cleanest we have encountered. The showers are separate little rooms across the hall from the restrooms. Our rate was with Good Sam discount. We would most definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Fairview Riverside State Park, Madisonville, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice state park. Check in was quick and easy. Interior roads and sites are paved although a bit narrow. Our site and others were just wide enough for the rvs and the road width made it a little tricky backing in without going off the pavement. Water and electric worked well and were in good location. Nice grassy space between sites with tall pine and oak trees for some shade. Some OTA channels available and wifi worked well. Restrooms were clean and had the sink, shower and toilet together in a room. We would camp here again if in the area. We camped at Fairview Riverside State Park in a Travel Trailer.

If you plan to visit New Orleans from here you have to take the 24 mile bridge across the lake. There is a $5 toll into New Orleans, no toll out.

Pensacola RV Park, Pensacola, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We only stayed one night while traveling through Pensacola. Arrived a little late but the man in the office was very nice. Check in was easy, he escorted us to our site and waited to be sure everything was satisfactory. Interior roads and sites are all well graveled. Our site was level and utilities worked well. Park is very clean and well kept. Each site has a picnic table on a concrete slab covered with pavers. Plenty of grass space between sites. Restrooms were clean. Park is in a good location for exploring Pensacola. We would camp here again if in the area. We camped at Pensacola RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wills Creek RV Park, Fort Payne, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night on our way home. The park is a little off the highway but easy to find and no road noise. The woman in the office was very nice and friendly even though we arrived a little late in the evening. Interior roads and sites are gravel. We were able to choose our site as we drove thru. Site was level, hookups were in good location and utilities worked well. All sites FHU. No cable or OTA channels and wifi only works near the office but that wasn't important for one night. Adequate space between sites with grass and small trees. Restroom and showers were a little walk from the campsite but were very clean. Would camp here again if in the area. We camped at Wills Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Davis Bayou Campground, Ocean Springs, Mississippi

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at this park for one night on our return trip home. Did not have a reservation but were able to get a site as they were not very busy. Reservations, if possible, would be best as this is a small park. Check in was easy and rate reflects Golden Age discount. Roads and sites are paved, needed a little leveling. Water and electric only, dump station available. Restroom and showers very clean. Utilities worked well. Good campground to use as a base to explore the area. Would camp here again if in the area. Rocky Top Campground, Blountville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Nice family owned park. Check in was easy and we were even given a little welcome bag with candy, crackers and a newspaper in it. Escorted to our site by the husband who made sure everything was good before he left. Interior roads are paved. Although this campground is on the side of a hill the sites are terraced and level. Plenty of room between sites. Among the nicest and cleanest restrooms and showers we've encountered in our travels. Wi-Fi worked well and plenty of cable tv channels. Would stay again if in the area. We camped at Rocky Top Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Western Village RV Park, Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night on our way home. Check in was quick and easy. Pleasant staff. The site we were given was actually two sites that back up to one another but they had us use it as a pull thru. This made the connections a bit awkward. Large, active family park with plenty for the kids to do and good location to explore the area. Interior roads good. Had to disconnect to level front to back. Nice clean restrooms. Wi-Fi and Verizon worked well. We camped at Western Village RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Greenwood Lodge and Campsites, Bennington, Vermont

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Spent one night on our way home. Small family owned campground with a bit of an odd layout. Nice owner that cares about his property. Call for reservation and he will give you directions and not have you rely on GPS. Interior roads good. Site was level. No shade at our site but others are in wooded area. No septic but dump station available. No problems with water or electric. Restrooms very clean but odd shower set up. We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Travel Trailer.

Bar Harbor / Woodlands KOA, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

This is a smaller KOA compared to others we have stayed at. Check in was quick and easy and staff was friendly. Nice pool near the entrance. Interior roads were good. Our site was directly across from the restrooms which is a long building with individual bathrooms{shower, sink and toilet}. They were kept as clean as possible considering the use they got from the group campers using them. Site was grass and needed a little leveling. Had a picnic table and fire ring. Very close to neighbor sites. No problems with electric, water or septic. Recommend using the free shuttle that picks you up at the entrance to go to Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. We camped at Bar Harbor / Woodlands KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a night on our way north. Not many campgrounds to chose from in this area. Check in was easy and staff explained all there is to do in the campground. Lots of stuff to keep kids busy, well stocked camp store. They do charge a ten dollar resort fee so we took advantage of their "free" pancake breakfast. Extra charge for drinks, bacon and sausage. Interior roads good, our site needed some leveling. Sites close together as in most KOA's. Restrooms and showers were clean. Good location if you want to explore the area as there is a lot to see and do. We camped at Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Manatee Springs State Park, Chiefland, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped here for two nights on our way south. The loop we were in had FHU sites and ours had gravel rather than sand as did some others. Needed a little leveling. Good space between sites. Utility hook ups were new with 30 and 50 amp. Enjoyed all the deer roaming thru the campground. Restroom and showers were newer than in the other loops and were clean. Nice swimming area. Refreshing 72 degree crystal clear water. BBQ was good and there are boat tours and canoe and kayak rentals available. If in the area would camp here again. We camped in a travel trailer. Campers Inn Inc., Panama City Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Based on past reviews we didn't really know what to expect. On arrival we were happy to see a nice pool with some covered area with tables and lounge chairs. Although we had a reservation there was someone already in our site. The office staff worked quickly to get us into another site close to our other family members we were camping with. As others have noted this is an older park and is lacking in some areas. However, the management and staff are making improvements. The pool has been refurbished as well as the restrooms and showers. No there isn't a lot of lush green landscaping but this park is very near the beach with sandy Florida soil that is hard to get anything to grow in without a lot of water and attention. The roads are a little rough but no worse than some other campgrounds. Staff is always out checking on things and available. Trash is picked up at your site. Utilities were on the wrong side but not a problem. Overall a good experience and we would camp here again. We camped in a travel trailer. We camped at Campers Inn Inc. in a Travel Trailer.

Cotton Hill COE, Fort Gaines, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped at this park for one night on our way to Florida. Check in was easy and the people in the office were very friendly. Our site was on the lake and near a small swimming area. Some campers near us had boats that they could beach at the back of their sites. There was a slight grade to the driveway of the site but the parking pad was level. As with most COE campgrounds this one did not disappoint as there was plenty of space between sites and no problems with utilities. Restrooms were clean but small and a little dated. We would camp here again. We camped in a travel trailer. We camped at Cotton Hill COE in a Travel Trailer.
