Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground, Bryce Canyon, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful location, just outside Bryce Canyon National Park. Lots of mature trees for shade, pool/spa (spa had very weak jets), office/store with all regular necessities, laundry, etc. The biggest drawback is that most of the place is dirt/gravel, so it's very dusty during summer and may be muddy during rain. Walking distance to store, restaurants, gas stations, etc.

Our motorhome has slide outs on both sides. In our first site (pull-through space 111), the trees were so close we couldn't open our slides all the way, and we couldn't get our rooftop mounted satellite dish to work. The neighboring site's fire ring was very close our rig, which would've concerned me if they had used it. The second night, we moved to site 223, which is a back-in site in a new section of the park. There was no shade at all, but the surrounding views were great, and we were able to use our slides and dish. The new area gives each site their own lawn area, which is great for dogs. There were also cows visible from the adjacent property, as well as a small lake. We camped at Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Kanab RV Corral, Kanab, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Good price for what is offered. Most sites are back-in only, so we had to disconnect. There is a small pool. It is older, but it was very clean. It does close early (7:30 pm), so you have to watch your time if you want to use it. The biggest problem is that the whole place is mostly dirt/gravel. When we went, in the middle of summer, it was extremely dusty! During rainy season, I imagine it might get muddy. Overall, it was a decent place to spend one night. We camped at Kanab RV Corral in a Motorhome.

Cherry Hill Camping Resort, Fruit Heights, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

If you are traveling with kids, this is a great place to go, as it has a full water park! For a couple who preferred quiet, not so much (although the park closes at 8pm, so it was quiet after that). The office/store is well equipped and has all the regular necessities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The spaces are long pull-throughs and had lots of shade and grass. We didn't use the pool, as it was very crowded with kids. It's an older park, but it was a nice place to spend a night. We camped at Cherry Hill Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Mountain Home RV Park, Mountain Home, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We were lucky to get a same-day reservation at this little gem of an RV park. The price is very good for everything they have (concrete pads, grass, trees, full hookups, pool/spa, billiard table, horseshoes, basketball court, grass fenced-in dog run, laundry, picnic area, etc.) Their service was great from the office staff to the gentleman who leads yo to your assigned space and makes sure you know how/where to connect everything. It's literally in the middle of nowhere, but it's a great oasis for those passing through or even to spend a few days. I have to compliment them on their recreational amenities. Their pool/spa have been recently redone with salt water and the smoothest plaster ever! My only complaint was the spa jets were very weak. In fact, most of the park feels new (except for the many mature shade trees), and they are in the process of expanding. For the money, you can't beat it! We camped at Mountain Home RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

I wish I would've asked if I could've selected my site. I don't know if more were available but, when we arrived, it was 106 degrees outside, and it would've been nice to get a site with more shade.

Walmart and many eateries within walking distance.

Rancho Sedona RV Park, Sedona, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $73.00
Overall Rating:

We made same-day reservations and were lucky to get in, as all spaces were booked except for two. Our space was an "executive" space at the back of the park, nearest to the creek that runs along the rear boundary of the park. This space was great, as it was well shaded by large trees and had a large grass area to the rear of our motorhome. It was also close to the creek access point. The creek is an easy walk, just over a berm that separates it from the grass area. This keeps it quiet from the screaming/laughing kids in the creek. It was a great way to cool off, as the temps during our stay were just above 100°! They even have a rope swing set up, which was very popular with kids. The only reason I didn't give this park a 10 overall was that it didn't have a pool or spa. If it had those, they would've been the icing on the cake!

You can tell the park is very well managed. They are clear about their rules in advance and there were no problems during our stay. The staff was friendly and professional. They let you check out DVD's, games, and books at no charge. They sell bags of ice, which is convenient. The whole place was immaculately clean. I watched the clean up process of the site next to ours when that customer left. They raked/smoothed the gravel, blew off fallen leaves/debris, and rearranged patio chairs for the next guest. They have a community fire pit. They also had a volleyball court set up on a large lawn area. No one used these during our stay, though, because of the heat. If/when we return to the Sedona area, we will definitely stay there again! We camped at Rancho Sedona RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The park is a short drive to town (too hot to walk!) It was about a 20 minute drive to Slide Rock State Park. Be warned: Slide Rock State Park fills up, so get there early. Also, they don't allow pets in or near the swimming/sliding area.

Toutle River RV Resort, Castle Rock, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is the type of RV park we would stay for only one night as we pass through. It is flanked on one side by the noisy traffic of the I-5 freeway and on the other side by train tracks. Trains go by All Night Long and they blow their horns and shake the place so much you feel like you're in an earthquake! The grass was all dead during our stay, so the views weren't too nice. There were some sites with large trees next to them for shade, but we didn't get one of those. There's a river nearby, but we didn't have a chance to see it. We camped at Toutle River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Seven Feathers RV Park, Canyonville, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This is a "must stay" park if you're in this area! It has everything you'd want for a great vacation spot, including an indoor pool/spa, shuttle service to town and their casino, very helpful staff, and immaculate grounds! Although it's part of the casino, it is actually across the freeway from the casino in a quiet setting surrounded by forest. If you are going to go there on a weekend, you MUST make reservations early, as they do fill up! We will definitely stay here again! We camped at Seven Feathers RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ventura Beach RV Resort, Ventura, California

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice full-service campground with all the amenities. Compared to others, however, it's very expensive! Beach access is nearby, but you have to walk, bike, or drive under the 101 freeway to get there. You don't see it from the campground. Also, the freeway noise from the 101 is constantly noisy, but you get used to it. We camped at Ventura Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Valley Camp, North Bend, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great little "no frills" campground. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty of nature, with full hook-ups for your RV. The sites are in a grass meadow. If it is full, which it rarely seems to be, your RV is very close to your neighbor's, similar to a parking space. However, if it's not full, they will spread out the RV's to allow for lots of space between them. The camp is surrounded by forest with tall trees, so finding satellite reception is not easy from all sites. We had to move around to get it. The camp hosts and management are very nice and helpful. There are walking trails, streams, and wildlife to enjoy. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 rating is that there's no pool/spa and no enclosed pet area, so dogs must be leashed at all times. If we're ever in the area, we will definitely return! We camped at Valley Camp in a Motorhome.

Elks Lodge #2724, Oakhurst, California

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

General info: This is a no-frills location to camp. It really is no more than a dirt/gravel lot with electricity and water hook-ups (no sewer or dump available on site). No on-site staff, so the payment is do it yourself style by placing a check for the correct amount into an envelope provide where you write your personal info, as well as your vehicle(s) and dates of stay. You then drop the envelope down a mail slot.

The Good: There are large trees nearby that provide some shade. It is very close to the entrance to Yosemite, off of hwy 41. It feels secluded and lonely, but it's well lit. Sites have available wood picnic tables. Checkout time is a generous 6pm!

The Bad: Completely dirt/gravel, so expect some dust in summer or mud during rain/snow season. Poor weed removal maintenance. Upper level has low hanging oak branches, which would probably damage taller rigs. Lower level is fine and easy to maneuver. 30 amp only. Low water pressure. No amenities (cable TV, pool, etc.

If we were going back to Yosemite, we would probably camp here again. It's worth the money for no frills when compared to other parks on our trip. We camped at Elks Lodge #2724 in a Motorhome.
